The incredible bouncing starship

I need some to tell me if they have the same problem or if I am just going crazier.

When entering a new sector my ship appears to to drop to the grid, hit it and raise a cloud of 'dust'
and them bounce up back to its normal position. This has only started doing this since the season 3
patch came out.

I've seen this a few times too, but I haven't (yet) noticed a pattern as to which systems or when.

Ya.........I get this from time to time........kinda weird...........Maybe Season 3 has been hittin the sauce cause its broken quite a bit since it popped one open.

This happens to me ALL the time. And I think its because I have astrometrics turned off.

I will warp into a sector space, the atrometrics appears, the ship hits the grid "floor" bounces up and settles.

If I warp into a system the camera zooms into the planet, then zooms out to the ever-present asteroid field, and then the sound cuts out while the ship is shown warping in.

I think it would help if they just got rid of astrometrics all together... or atleast made it so it wasnt set with a toggle button on the UI/

Don't take this the wrong way but I'm glad someone else has seen this.
I thought that I had been hitting the sauce too much lately.

It's more noticable in sector space whether astometrics is on or off.
Happens to a lesser degree when warping into systems

this happens to me since the game has launched.

i have a suspicion that it is a ping releated issue and that the people at Cryptic who basically have a ping of 0 will never see it whil i am in germany with a ping of 150 (well in that direction at least...) will have it on every warp in forever.

In Season 3 there only was a bug that the Ships stayed down after falling down, now they bounce back up again... but they never should fall down in the first place.

It especially looks stupid with the Borg Engine equipped when the green engine trail shows that your ship has fallen down.

the worst part is when your spaceship hits the 'ground' and a cloud of dust is thrown up, it looks terrible - they could at least remove the ground-dust graphics, this is the exact same graphical effect you get in COH when landing on the ground :P

I've had two occasions where I've fallen through the map and had it reset automatically before it puts me in the correct spot. Annoying, but not game-breaking.

annoying is bad enough for me to assign a Dev to fix it.... especially if it is persistant since game launch and Season 3 is supposed to be bugfixing and polish right? I don't realy see any of the old annoying bugs fixed by now.

Happens to me all the time too, with astrometrics on, and on both kind of maps (combat and galactic).
It also appeared with season 3 patch for me while eveything was working perfectly before said patch.
I suspect this to be more a latency related issue because of server than a GFX bug.

Never used to happen to me, but happens a lot now. It is definitely network related. I have cable and dsl backup and on either connection there is a ping spike every time your ship goes splat on the floor of sector space.

I get this a lot when i try and play the game over a bad internet connection. I think it is a latency problem, similar to the rubber-banding effect.

I had this happen a couple times after I logged in and actually took 50% hull damage.

Seems to be happening far too often for me as well. I haven't been able to establish what conditions trigger it though. maybe coming back from a ground mission or something but my observations have not shown consistency on that front.

For me it was gone since few days and now it is back.
It is definitely tied to server load since it does not happen at all when i play during off-peak hours but only at peak hours when eveyone is playing.

my guess its an issue with the ship position redraw upon entering the instances as it loading everything first then coordinates the ship and then cleans up the client to how they habe it setup. it should set the ship coordinates before the textures and objects are loaded since on the server side thats all there is just markers.
