I know that sounds kind of funny, but dont read too much into it. I decided to start a new Fed and Klingon character to experience how far the game has come from the beginning, and with the difficulty slider, the sector space revamp, new PvE for Klingons, and the new crafting update, its just so much more fun than it used to be! And the really great thing is, at the pace I plan to play, with the weekly series and Foundry coming to holodeck soon, I dont think I'll ever run out of content on these characters. I would definitely recommend starting a new character to experience the game again and see how far its come. I think you'll be impressed

PS: I also decided to make my first C-store purchase and pick up the NX ship and uniforms to use for my LT rank and those are really nicely done

Couldn't agree more. In fact I was thinking about how fast they pump out content and changes that I'm going to have to start a new character every season just for the new experience.
Maybe I'll try it with an open mind. I usually believe everything the GN says.
I think it just depends on how you play. For example, I'm alternating between my Fed and Klingon and also harvesting anomalies in between missions to craft my low level gear. You also have the option of doing some of the new weekly episodes at low levels now.
LOL!
I agree with ya on all points ... save one: the "C" store. IMHO stuff should be available via grinding or other means via game play as well..
Aside from that you are absolutely correct.
I ESPECIALLY love what they did with the "SPACE" ... enable or not the astrometrics ... EXCELLENT !
ive done this about 12 times over now.
i find things i missed from previous toons, and as you say, with all the new additions in S3, it makes it more fun to start over.
glad you liked it as well...enjoy.
LOL, its kind of funny how similarly you started off your last two posts

I tend to be somewhat contrarian. I think I would have done well substituting for John Cleese in the Monty Python "The Argument" sketch.
I guess then I have a pretty dumb question. Why would I want to craft at low levels when
a. I get great, if not better stuff in drops,
b. The game is easy, so I don't really need the loot.
c. I don't enjoy ground combat on higher difficulties, so I don't mess with the slider.
d. Pretty soon, it will all become obsolete if I just play on normal, mash the spacebar, and level up.
Why bother with it all when you don't need to?
A, B and D pretty much apply to all MMO's which is why I've rarely bothered crafting while leveling.
C I agree with you 100% on, and if they had seperate sliders for space and ground (and using it actually made the enemy ships smarter rather than merely more powerful), I'd happily ramp up space combat.
sigh, why did thry make sto an mmo. Hopefully, ugc will make the game interesting by making a good story the prize instead of a shiny.
Just what else were you hoping they make it into?
TBH, its kind of like a mini-game to me. It something productive to do other than combat, and if nothing else you can sell the things you craft to vendors for extra cash at low levels.
Well, I came to this game being a star trek fan, having never played an mmo. My biggest expectation: I wanted to feel immersed in the Star Trek universe, being a captain with my own ship, the whole seeking, discovering, strange new worlds, blah blah.
Instead, I got an endless amount of repetition that killed brain cells. The story and all the Star Trek "droppings" were like a thin veneer of dodo on an mmo. Stafleet didn't act like Starfleet. The Federation had no moral compass. To top it all off, the stories were there mostly to try and disguise the repetition and lack of creative storytelling. Don't get me wrong, there are several exceptional missions, and Cryptic is finally learning how to tell a Trek-like story.
But, I'm still here, because I really, really want to play the missions written by the fans who love and understand Star Trek. I'm more than happy to play ugc, because I don't care about loot, crafting, and anything that is yet another shiny to make a player feel like they have not completely wasted their evening doing the same thing for the 1900th time.
I'm really excited that the game is becoming more than a mmo with a Star Trek skin.
I guess that makes sense, but what will you do with 1.4 million ECs?
Have you been testing? Theres no "hopefully" about it; the Foundry is the TRIBBLE
BTW, I recommend trying the mission "The Syndicate Extraction" by Galactrix. Probably the best UGC mission I've played!
OK, will do. I was playing Armsman's "A Relic's Return" tonight. A phone call made me time out, but the story was pretty awesome so far. You should do a review of "The Syndicate Extraction" for sbugc, GN. I'm sure that many people would appreciate you candor and insights.
Hey now...you obviously haven't played MY mission then.
OK, maybe you have and you didn't like it.
Now I'm sad.
(shameless beg for players to test it) If you haven't - its facility of fools. I take all feedback well..even the text-based beatings. (/shameless beg for players to test it)
LOL no havent played yours yet sorry. But I will
You were right. Syndicate Extraction was a really well written and executed mission. It was a lot of fun. Don't play mine now. It won't compare well.
The only annoyance for me is the bound gear. When I'm done with it on one character, I'd like to pass it to my lower level character. For this reason, it would be better if the bound gear was account bound rather than character bound. It's not much to ask since it only gets recycled anyway, then I just build a new one to replace it. It's just a waste of my time having to replace this gear if I start a new character once the old character has outgrown it.
DStahls statement that all other factions will be the same way will the major content going to the Fed side makes me sad. Lots of unused potential and a bad name to Cryptic.
I also rolled a new Tac Officer (for the first time) and yes it's fun to play from the beginning and the new sector space (or rather the ability to turn the fishtank off) is a great improvement to the overall feel of the game.
Also the lore text popup for each star system is fantastic!
(arent the buttons upside down though?)
Not to be a buzzkill, but I dislike the resource collection minigame though. It is dumb! Sorry but that's how I feel, when I am forced to repeatedly press 4 buttons pressed by a time limit. Reminiscent of jumpgate-hacking in PuzzleQuest Galatrix (if any of you have been subjected to that torture) except that was more enjoyable.
Overall though it's great to see the direction the game is going!
Sounds cool!! Is there a forum/thread anywhere that lists all the Foundry new missions?
