Captain's Table is Eye Sore

I really feel that having that glowing light in Sol and Quo'nos is a real eye sore. It sticks out and really doesnt make any sense for it to be there.

Also given that the Captain's table has the similar amenities to Space Dock and the Great Hall, it really serves no purpose being there. It would be much more useful if it was placed in a sector that was out of the way or if it was not placed anywhere. But instead was accessible through a type of transwarp command(not on same cooldown as others) that would take the player there.

Just my thoughts.

    To me, what would make more sense is to make the Captains' Table a place withing ESD and the Great Hall that is only accessable by people who have been given access. For everyone else, the door stays closed.

    I don't really mind where it is at. I just wish it had a greater usefulness. I stop by everyonce in a while (just because I can) to check it out always hoping to see more people there. It is usually just one or two people not really doing anything. I know there are more lifers than that lol! Hopefully Cryptic decides to rework the Captains Table .

    Never mind the blue portals that permit access to the Captain's table... The actual captain's table is an eyesore... (The interior.)

    I agree that the entrance could be moved - Maybe to a location on the ESD/Qo'noS maps that is hidden away in a corner (Like behind Earth/Qo'noS)? An alternative would be to do away with the portals altogether and give lifers/vets a transwarp ability that takes them to the captain's table.Or maybe one portal could be added to a neutral part of sector space which can be visited by Feds and Klingons. Although the portal being moved/replaced/ect. would be nice, it's not a priority.

    the capt.'s table was for life time members . now there going to let ppl that have 400 days of game play in thats not right to start with ... the capt.'s table is better because not that many ppl can get in it you dont have all the bs like sol . and there should be warp hole to capt.;s table in ever place there is a base k7 ,24,d9 and more.

    I don't mind it. What I do mind is where it's located for Klingons. Do you have any idea how many times I've transported down to Quonos by accident? Or how no matter what path you take, just approaching the anamoly has the transport requester pop up?

    It's annoying. And then there's the fact that when feds transwarp to ESD, it's right there, no obstruction. When Klingons transwarp home, they have to travell around the planet which results in a lot of nasty collisions with the planet. Steering around the planet doesn't help unless you steer WAY AROUND it. As in take the longest route possible. and even then you STILL have to close off half a dozen transport to Great Hall request dialogs.

    I agree. The Captain's Table is a place out of time, not in any sector of space. The portal is temporal in nature. It should be something you can access from anywhere simply by clicking an icon in your tray: "Mr. Robbins, begin calculations for time-warp." If you are in Gamma Orionis and use the icon to go to the Captain's Table it will return you to Gamma Orionis upon exit.

    I agree with you. I've suggested a few times to Cryptic that they change the... blob in space... to a transwarp gate as that would make alot more sense.. I hope they do something like that when they have the time.

    It should be a random glowing door to a bar with a sign above it that says "Captain's Table" on every social zone ground map just like it is in the books.

    I think a good analogy in the Cryptic engine is in Champions Online. A door to the PowerHouse in that game is on every social area map. Captain's Table should be like that in STO - part of the scenery. A building/doorway normal people would just ignore, but that only people who knew about it would go to.

    They should make it accessible from your ready room. That is closer to the lore of it, as I understand it.

    But I do agree the portal seems very out of place, and isn't even convenient.

    honestly i think it would be better suited for an "altered transporter pad" on ESD. it really does look terrible hanging around outside ESD in space.

    it should be added to the menu bar, or as a ground/transwarp 'power' that doesn't affect recharge on the other ones.

    Why not make the captains table entry point a door on the ESD? Even better, just get rid of it since it is completely useless. Do people even go there anymore?

    I've seen ideas around threads asking for the Captain's Table to be the top deck of ESD or some special hall on the Klingon homeworld. Both accessable from doorways,etc.


    Also I'm for instant travel via transwarp to em too :p

    I'm only a 331 day vet though....so I'll have to wait :D . It's going to suck though when 400 hits....I'll feel bad for the lifers. The amount of immaturity I have to /ignore everyday on ESD will be going to the Table...at times I'm embarrassed to be a part of the near-400's, yet again it was worth being here sinse Beta/Headstart :p

    People that don't like it could just not go there and stop complaining about it, since nothing requires you to go there...... nah too simple.

    I'd like the door myself, no to a transwarp gate, and the l'il light blob doesn't bug me at all.

    just put this door on the lower level of ESD and problem solved. nothing is down there right now so it seems this would be a good fit.

    Why feel bad? I don't feel bad about it. I mean hell, I am a lifer, signed up for just before the game was released. I have been to the "captains table" once. Shortly after it was created. Just like then it is still pointless and useless. I don't even see why it was created in the first place. Waste of time and resources if you ask me.

    I think the Captain's table needs to be a deck on the NEW earth space dock. that thing out in space is UGLY.:mad:

    Agreed. It doesn't have everything ESD has. So if I'm a the dock, why would I divert through more loading screens to a place that has less.

    I would much rather a "Magic Doorway" or at the very least, put it someplace useable. Maybe put a "Gateway Nebula" at every dock. That way I can use it to basically teleport from DS9 to ESD or something.

    Maybe Cryptic will do something about this when the new ESD is up and running haha

    I like the doorway in spacedock idea.

    Though the Captain's Table needs some sort of 'special use' It's merely a copy of ESD/Qo'nos that serves no purpose. It needs something unique.
