How do you know it's a maintenance and not a crash of some sort?

    Anyway, yes, it's bloody annoying.

    Its not maintenance

the servers have crashed and they are trying to pass it off as maintenance

Looks at least like a crash of the login server. Either that or the "facility manager" has plugged the server off in order to use the electricity for his vacuum cleaner.

damn, just before the infected boss room ...

now that's what happens if staff is allowed to enjoy themselves during the holidays ;)

I doubt it is a normal maintenance. There is no warning on the forum nor were there one ingame.

So it is either an emergency maintenance or a server crash...

Anyway let's bet how long it takes to bring them back online. :D (my bet 90min)

Same here, why do MMORPG's always seem to decide to do extra maint. on servers during times when people are off from school or work and playing more?

    They wouldnt forget to tell us and there are always warnings like;

    10 mins server maintenance
    5 mins server maintenance etc

It is clear they have crashed.

It must be the one year reward come early :p

Must have been a crash... Had just started a KDF team for The Cure, and I got "Lost Connection to Server".

When trying to reenter, it stood at "connecting to login server" for minutes. Might have been the login server that got assimilated... Bad Borg, bad! :p

from a post i remember reading months ago, the server undergoing maintenance message on the website is automated... its then up to the devs or GMs to provide additional info.

This means that in the event of a system crash the website automatically displays server undergoing maintenance

there will be someone there. hopefully he just has to restart it assuming they dont have some kind of external technical fault with their hardware/ip provider etc.

CO is still running so I doubt it has something to do with their provider (Until they forgot to pay their STO bills. :D).

Hope it's just simple to fix, but if it's external, it can and will take some time...

Obviously you've never been around a large server/network environment. I am sure they are well aware that there is a problem with the server. The server status went into maintenance mode almost immediately when we all got kicked. I'm sure the Network Ops team runs a tight ship and knew there were issues before we did. This isn't your home network where the first response is always WTF? They didn't "forget" to inform us, once the night shift is done scrambling around troubleshooting the problem I'm sure they will let us know what's up.

Normally I would call you all a bunch of whiners and say get a life ... but we do pay monthly for this game. It would be different if we weren't paying for a service. So ... you may continue whining.

Well it must not be an external issue... Tribble is still up and accepting logins. Wish I'd copied my character over recently.
