Romulan faction Give Idea to Cryptic

Well i did a thread about unifrom and it has gone over board so this is for everbody that which to give idea to cryptic about What we want for Romulan Faction.

as for me I think cryptic will have a hard time coming up with content or story line for Romulan not only they need to come up with mission against Federation and other faction but you know there is a lot of conspiracy and coup d'etat going on in Romulan empire as it's one of their trait since they are base on Roman empire.

so my guess is that there will be a lot more ground fighting with Romulan. I mean KDF is more PVP space so RSE should be more ground combat with some secret impossible mission.

beside there should be 2 sub faction in the Romulan empire were we can choose either to be in regular army or be part of the Tal Shiar. this should make things more interesting

My suggestion is to have 2 sub faction to choose from.

Regular Army: Tact, Sc, Eng with bonus to space skills

Tal Shiar: Tact, Sc, Eng with bonus to Ground combat skill

Please fell free to add your own idea

I think the Romulans will be a bit difficult to come up with content for. The devs are going to have to open up new sectors on the galaxy map that are only accessible by the Romulans, or else close one or two sectors of Romulan space, but that would create problems with missions that are already established in those sectors. I would imagine that the Romulans would have a lot of missions trying to fight off the KDF, there should also be missions dealing with the Undine, taking shots at the Federation, and dealing with internal strife. The Tholians are supposed to be located between Romulan and Klingon space, so I can see some missions dealing with them as well. Missions dealing with the Borg are a no brainer, and personally, I would like to see more missions featuring Donatra, maybe a weekly series for the Romulans where they have their own Locutus type situation at the end of which you are tasked with defending the new Romulan seat of government and possibly freeing Donatra from the collective. I am probably the only one who feels this way, but maybe there could be a mission series dealing with time travel where the Romulans attempt to save Romulus from destruction, or perhaps they build their own version of the genesis device to recreate their homeworld and you have a weekly series where each week you have to defend the efforts against one of the other factions trying to stop you. Of course, there is also the possibility of a three way war between the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans. As far as I know, the Romulans have not officially declared war with the Federation. Romulan gameplay could be a bit tricky though. It needs to have some kind of element there to set it apart from the other factions. I don't want their gameplay to end up being like submarine warfare, but their tactics need to mirror with their culture. If I am playing a Romulan, I want to be able to use Romulan style tactics when I am taking the fight to the enemy. As far as playable species, Romulans, Remans, Hirogen, and Alien are all I can think of. Unless there are other species in the Romulan Empire that we aren't aware of, or Sela is trying to forge alliances with other Delta Quadrant races (i.e. Kazon, Krenim, Vidian, Malon). You could perform missions as a representative of the Romulan Empire where you are tasked with making contact with these races, kind of like the Federation Diplomatic Corps. The only difference is, you would be tasked with convincing these factions to throw their support behind the Romulan Empire, and upon completion of the mission, the race in question is opened up in the character creation screen for the Romulans, kind of like how you have to play for a time as a Federation character before you can create a Klingon character when you first start the game. I don't know, but I'm sure that whatever they come up with, it will be good. Stahl has done a great job with turning STO around, his predecessor just sucked.

I think the best solution would be to finally close the gap between the Arucanis Arm and the Hromi Cluster, ideally by including the "borderlands" Triangle Sector to create a conflicted zone of semi-neutral space where the Federation, the Romulans and the Klingons border one another. This would bring a lot of potential for the existing factions, as the major part of the Orion Colonies is situated there, which means a lot of Syndicate activity and piracy which nearby Starfleet patrols are dedicated to put a stop to - whilst the KDF is attempting a renewed offense into Romulan space in the hopes of exploiting the current fragmentation of the RSE.

This Sector could even be the perfect playground for the "Open PvPvE" space people have been asking for. Romulan PvE-only content would then focus on other sectors above Psi Velorum.

And yes, bring back Donatra! She and Sela could be the Romulans' equivalent to the Duras vs Martok thing going on in the Klingon Empire.

Yeah, that's going to be tricky. Though the culture would employ these things otherwise, in terms of gameplay mechanics the Romulans would likely have the same arsenal as the KDF, meaning cloaking devices and possibly Reman fighters (more Fed whine inc). Sadly, we as players mostly think alike and employ these tools in the most efficient manner we as humans could imagine, so PvP between KDF and RSE forces would look pretty similar if the devs don't come up with an idea for something unique.

I suppose that is very likely. The Federation, the Klingons and the Cardassians all had other species in their sphere of influence (sometimes as allies, sometimes as subjugated people). I would expect the Romulans to be no different - their territory certainly is vast enough. Perhaps another slave race like the Remans that is only now allowed to join the military because the Romulans, pressured by ongoing civil unrest and Klingon incursions, have problems recruiting the number of soldiers they need.
Canonwise, these "Auxiliaries" should not hold the same rank or potential for advancement as pure Romulans, but just as with the KDF I guess this restriction is likely to be disregarded for the game.

I'd rather not see any more Delta Quadrant species in STO, though - I can understand the Hirogen due to their nomadic lifestyle and relative proximity to the Alpha/Beta Quadrants, but other races would only make it appear as if the part of the galaxy that Voyager was supposed to take decades to cross is just "next door" in STO.
Maybe Cryptic can find one of the many "aliens of the week" from TNG that may live on a planet in or close to Romulan space, otherwise I'm sure they can come up with a cool design of their own.

Thank the Maker. I want to see Romulans, not a bunch of cyberpunk thugs.
