I havent' posted this before, but my tolerance has been reached. Enough with the tricorders, already! You can't take three steps anywhere in the game without being continuously assaulted by that high pitched tricorder noise. It's got to the point that I have to turn off my speakers because it's actually giving me a headache.
It's the big dilemma of the 24th century. We never just stop and smell the the pretty flowers like Spock did in the olden days. We must use our tricorder to tell us how aromatic or how non thorn shooting they are.

When will we learn?
Perhaps we should take the time to learn how to turn down the Ambient/Background/FX Noise in the Options Tab...
OH! I get it, it's living theater! Ok ok ok....AH!
I really can't stand all the warping around! As soon as I leave Spacedock it's warp in warp out. Every 5 seconds somebody is warping around me! *flail* I finally had to turn my monitor off.

...as well as smell the flowers.
Except that turning down those sounds is the same as turning off the speakers. You can't turn off the tricorders specifically while keeping other sounds.

Perhaps we know exactly how to work the sound options?
Perhaps it is not best to mute the drone at the expense of all other ambient sounds?
Perhaps it would be a very easy fix to tone down the constant drone or at least break it up?
Perhaps we should take more time to smell the flowers - especially those lilies on Lahra Prime (the ones that make a pleasant hum).

FYI. I made some jokes but in all honesty I can understand. Doesn't bother me but its like being in a casino and hearing those awful slot machines.
You think the tricorder noise is bad? Try doing you exchange business at Qo'nos with that constant 3 second loop of blips and blood in the background without going crazy!

+1 The tricorders are WAY overdone, and it does get to be extremely annoying. I have turned down my FX sounds so that it's a little less noticeable, but I don't want ALL my FX sounds to go away, so I keep the volume just barely there. Still, that shrieking is piercing, even when that quiet.
If I'm chatting with a friend on STO or looking through available missions, I will intentionally seek out a "quiet" area to do it. Yes, tricorders are around and being used in Star Trek... but not as much as in the game. Any chance we can get it reduced some guys?
i'm certain starfleet officers (or at the very least, those who served on voyager) can't even take a dump without first taking readings from the bowl. even basic stuff like checking out some rocks they whip them out, they're just freakin' rocks!
Oh, but it's not just Starfleet. My Klingon crew is always using them. I was on Defera talking to the Ferengi and several Deferi came by and whipped out their tricorders for a random scan.
I swear, if I was a Ferengi, I'd be selling tricorders, they're the most ubiquitous thing in the game.

..or going to a NASCAR Event and having to put up with all those Revving Engines.
..though it is a really cool way to demonstrate the Doppler Effect without having to buy a Vertically Striped Costume....
