before starting: no this is no thread about how "bad" or "good" STO is.
The Guramba Siege Destroyer:
Design: really good and totally fits for me.
Powers: really some new mechanics, maybe have to be balanced
Availability: only c-store at 22
Are you serious or think we players are dumb cash automatons ?!?
Technically the ship is ONLY a costume, with an additional morph animation and some new database entries for charging mechanic. One ship makes about <1% of game content. Only because some of us want to play "their" racial ships, we have to PAY an additional tremendous fee on top of our subscriptions?
If this your "Cryptic" Style of marketing, that is enough for me (and many other players) i will not anymore PAY for anything, will not TEST any longer on tribble to squish bugs, will NOT PROMOTE any Cryptic titles via word-of-mouth.
Especially your next title "NEVERWINTER" has failed yet now for me before it is released.
YES im really ****ed of that sheerless endless "need" of money of companies.
We players normally get COMPLETE games or big expansions for that price!!!
LAST CALL
I do understand the need for generating money for titles that offer lifetime subs or F2P models, but 25 for <1% of "game content" is a total scandal.
If we had a method of gaining it via emblems ... maybe 500 as the other ships ok, if someone really wants it faster ... ok 5, bought and maybe spent 5 later on other "content", but with this scandal YOU WILL LOSE SUBS AND CUSTOMERs

PS: You will hopefully realize this bad move and correct it very fast....
That pretty much says it all right now. Its completely uneccessary to play the game. You dont "have" to buy it. Furthermore, as the equivilant of the Gal-X, they cant make the Guramba available in game without doing the same for the Gal-X. The problem with that is people have already paid $25 for the Gal-X. If you want to quit the game, thats your choice. But doing it because of something that is nothing more than a fluff costume is pretty silly IMO.
all companies have to make money to survive, this is not some fairy tale world of good will. Cryptic or rather any company is only in the business to make a profit, if alittle good comes of it so much the better. You seem not to understand this.
Cryptic is pricing items in such a way that they make the most profit that the market will allow. If this and the next couple high price items do not sell then they will lower the price for the next offerings.
tldr: don't buy it, its that simple. eventually the price the market will bare will equalize.
I don't agree with a double dipping policy either, but i've learned to live without any c-store items i might want just fine. The game is great for me as-is. It's too bad you don't feel the same way.
I always find it funny when a lifetime member quits. The guy shelled out $250-$300, and quaffs over 25. Give me a break, and your gear.
Oh, they wont really quit. They'll get a little miffed and take a break, but then realize how much they paid and come back for a bit. And then the cycle will repeat itself

Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. If this is really just a costume for another ship already in the game, just use that ship.
Also, you can play dabo, built up some latinum and buy a holo projection for your current ship to make it look like something else if you are tried of looking at it.

It always cracks me up when a LIFER uses subscription fees as an excuse to whine about C-Store Prices. These people (And I'm one of them) paid their subs for (at most) 20 months in advance and then NEVER have to spend another dime on the game.
And the crocodile tears they shed when they claim they're thinking of the monthly subscribers is pure bull. If they were really concerned about the monthly players they'd be trying to get you guys your own lifetime subs.
Of course they aren't going to do that because it's your monthly subscription fees and C-Store purchases that keep this game alive while we freeload off of your wallets.

The LT option IS one of the "subscription" plans, so his use of the term was not incorrect. Furthermore, the current $300 LT plan = 20 months @ $15 per month, so until this game has existed for 20 months past the date you got the plan, then you havent gotten what you paid for.

This is not a costume guys, it has real ingame effects. The ship has a different slot layout and weapons to the other Klink ships. It has been stated more than once by more than one person in these forums that anything with an ingame "effect" would also be achievable by ingame means. They were not specific as to what kind of effects and they have never stuck behind any of their statements.
As to adding it as an after-the-fact refer-a-friend thing, that should have been done at the beginning just as there should have been a Klingon alternative to the TOS Constitution. Adding it to RAF is just butt covering on their parts and is intended to distract the customer base to let it slide this time.
The thin end of the wedge has come and gone, we are about halfway up and it's starting to hurt.
I actually paid for that TRIBBLE and all i can say is i changed back to a BOP the next day, save your money its useless. The main weapon almost never works , yes its bugged and its just not worth it ! Save your money.
I am a lifer, have been here since early Jan and I still have the 400 cryptic points the game came with I have NEVER spent anything in the C-store.
The STO digital retails for $2.50 on amazon and $9.99 for box versions at target. The way I see it, the C-store is called business. Everything in it is an added costume or novelty. If I think it is worth to have... I will shell out the additional money. BUT.. I haven't seen anythign worth to have ... yet.
Not another quit thread...well at least there hasnt been that many in awhile...that might mean the game is getting alot better. Just something to think about...if youve been here since launch just look at how much the game has improoved since then. Especially since DStahl has taken over...I'm looking towards a bright future with STO.

So, you are saying that it is not a costume but has different effects to the other ships. Not talking about how bad it might be, simply that it has a different ingame effect.

You are absolutely correct about the time not passing yet, but there are two reasons I worded my post the way I did.
1. I have no doubt that this game will last longer than the money I spent on my LT plan.
2. Because LT plans are not a limited time offer there will always be someone who "didn't get their money's worth" when the game eventually shuts down. (unless Cryptic decides to stop offering LT plans sometime in the future)
This is an uncalled for tangent, but the OP's avatar got me thinking: I wish they would come out with another Babylon 5 movie. Even if it is straight to DVD or a TNT special. I'd still like to see another.
Sorry for spinning this into a tangent, but your pic got me thinking...:D
Think they said something about adding it to the referral program the same as the Gal-X.
That's a BS carrot offer. To insult the faction that has been slighted from the word go is adding insult to injury.
It should have been a "thank you" for free or possibly something earned in game but $25? The OP is correct
when he says that is also the price of many complete games.
Honestly, I could see pulling this TRIBBLE with the Fed side since (in the grand scheme of things) they've
been coddled (in comparison to the Klingon side) but to ask for more $ from the side that paid you in full for
half of a product?

Never apologize for going off on a tangent in a whine-rant/i-quit thread. More often than not, your tangent will be better thought out, more informative, and more entertaining than the OP.

It's just WRONG.
So you think its a fleecing but it'd be ok to do it to players who only play fed? Wow. I didn't know that nerd-rage and unreasonableness is faction-specific.
and as far as the thing costing as much as some other complete games - take the cash and go play the other games. If you don't like the product or business model Cryptic offers, then show them by not participating in it. It'd be a nice change of pace on the forums if all the people who apparently pay-to-whine would either quit paying or quit whining.

Personally, I think $25 is way too much for a C-store item. That said, people have already paid that much for the Gal-X, and if this ship is really its equal as some have said then it would be "unfair"(note the quotes and add your own interpretation) to those who have purchased the Gal-X to have this ship cheaper or available in game. The real question is, would Cryptic get MORE hate from the current situation, or the one I just described? Theres really no way to know, but guessing is always fun

SciFy channel should pick up some decent screenplays for a change instead of airing the excrement that I have had to click through recently. I'd even settle for the original series.
The only way the prices of the ships will go down is if people don't buy them. After all the craziness of the GX on the forums. After all the tantrums and rage quits. Then they offer this ship for twenty five dollars people must be buying them.
How often you think you can tell ppl to leave the game before only a few lifetimers are left? The pricing for the Guramba is not very clever on Cryptics side, because many ppl are now angry and will not buy it BUT isn't that what Cryptic made that ship for? That we buy it?? If Cryptic put it into the c-store for a reasonable price like 1200cp i'm sure they can make alot more money of it than making also many ppl angry who allways supported Cryptic with buying from the c-store.
The whole Gal-X issue is something Cryptic should not do again. To say the Guramba is the KDF mirror to the Gal-X doesn't make it any better. The best Cryptic can do is to lower the price of both ships to a price between 1200cp to 1500cp.
$25 is nearly the price of Add-Ons that took years to develop where you have alot more content than one ship. How can the guys at Cryptic think that $25 is a reasonable price for one ship? I thought the guys at Cryptic learned something from the Gal-X issue, but maybe not.
