Hi All & Devs: Just sharing my idea for a story mission for stopping the war with the kling/feds, new leader for klingones and using that kaless sword for that mission. Funny thing is I was dreaming this and I thought it would be a very good story missions for klingon General toon. Here are the story points
1)Call on a mission by leader of klingons
2)You get attack and someone steals the kaless sword
3)You go search for the sword but find out that Jimpok is getting the people ready for a all out attack of Earth and crush the feds (using the sword for this purpose - says kaless gave him the sword but he cant pick it up - he not the right owner of the sword)
4)You get hail by Worf about Jimpok plain so you set course for klingon home world.
5)When you get home world, there a large fleet to stop you but Emperor Kaless show up to aid you and the fleet set down. What you done for the Empire)
6)Before you land you get visited by a klingon from far future, saying that you must stop the war with the feds or the Empire is doom by a greater treat) - You must stop and kill Jimpok and destroy his house forever
7)Land on Homeworld, go to the council and says Jimpok must be stop and that the sword is yours. Then Emperor steps in and say your right and goes to the sword to give to you. Then Jimpok attacks the Emperor but you stop him. You pick the sword and start to fight. Jimpok man come in but Worf comes with a force of klingons too, stand off.
8)The fight starts between you and jimpok (hard fight) but with the sword Jimpok get nervous. You kill him in Emperor says your the new leader but the future klingon said to you that Worf must lead, so you pick Worf and he says your his top General. The war must stop agaist the Feds for greater good and Jimpok house is given to you - root all bad klingons (rename too)
9)Then you unlock Ambassdor rank for the klingons for a new toon you want and there no more conflict with the feds. Get to visit Earth and make peace.
I try to sent this too the Devs but one GM says NO so I posting my ideas on the forum. I hope this idea come true for this game, neat story and i hope everyone else like it too.
um..........ima have to go with the devs here. for pvp to thrive we need a war. the devs just need to come up with some better reasoning behind all of it as your progression thru the game as a fed reveals the war is a sham and in any of the series would be grounds to end the war. but obviously not here in STO.
It would be very lonely for me to be the only Klingon left killing feds ingame, so no thanks to ending the war even though you did put forth your idea very well.
The war is not needed to explain PvP. Since there are already Klingon house battles, and Fed v Fed sparring matches. There is no death penalty in PvP, and nothing is gained or lost through PvP, they can all be described as sparring matches to simulate combat. It is more logical than the current model of a war where territory and resources are never lost or gained.
how about an all out civil war, so that as you played though the story line you could take sides and join one that opposes the war with the feds or the the side that doesn't. maybe have some outcome that lets you sit on the fence. I dont think we should be at war with the feds but I dont want them interfering in Klingon matters so if you cross that board I will shoot you but otherwise were cool. hehe that sounds funny but rather Klingon at the same time.

except that theres also FvK not just KvK and FvF. as well its already been talked about by the devs about doing something about pvp in the future. "simulations" wont cut it with the fan base and you know that. the only reason people are unhappy with the war is because its storytelling is flawed. once the devs rework that issue then pvp will have meaning again.

Of course there is FvK PvP, My examples of FvF and KvK were to show that there are PvP instances that don't have to be prefaced with there being a full scale war on. I also take issue with the statement that the fan base won't accept that PvP combat is a simulation. The entire game is a simulation. The PvP gametypes especially are probably more a simulation than anything else. How do you explain Cap and Hold or Arena scenarios where your ship is destroyed but you immediately respawn with a new ship that is fully combat ready? There is no penalty for death or loss in PvP, and only a marginal increase in reward for winning PvP. The mechanics in place are closer to the model of a wargame than an actual war.
The Fed/Kling war needs to either be done away with, so we can cross-team on PvE, or made meaningful so players can understand why we can't cross-team when running the same missions.
