Either that or someone experienced in it that can acutally help and use vent HELP ME! I love the game to death and all but please do something about it.
Thank you!!!!
P.S. Totally unrelated but when do Vulcan Ships come out?
Agreed and withholding part of the game until we finish it is akin to selling only PART of the game I paid full price for.
What are they offering in way of compensation?
Infected has nothing on the cure or KA, are you sure you aren't playing on advanced or elite? Pug infecteds only last an hour max with a semi-decent group
Many teams fail because many players are fail. Running all willy nilly into rooms filled with Borg is only going to result in failure.
That said, I think the hardest thing about Infected is finding a a decent group.
I'm doing it on the lowest possible difficulty and they can still kill me. One other problem I have all the time with online games is NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO LISTEN! I'd do it again if a buddy of mine would help. He killed the Queen twice in one night by himself due to a glitch. He was awsome but like I said no one knows how to listen.
I'm doing it on the lowest possible difficulty and they can still kill me.
So let me get this straight, you're upset because an adversary in a game, during a challenging missions, is able to defeat you. Riiiight. Yup, Cryptic, please nerf this. The OP is able to die on this mission. We can't have that.
He killed the Queen twice in one night by himself due to a glitch.
Oh yeah, that whole using a glitch to beat something is so totally epic. Man it takes real skill to do that. If only every PUG had players like this, then every STF would be easy....
How about instead of getting upset that the missions that were designed to be the most challenging, are indeed the most challenging, you try and ask for help, or research how to beat it more easily.
I've beaten this five or six times now with a different PUG each time, with no TS or Vent. I know it can be done and frankly, infected is the easiest STF.
wow just wow. my fleet mates and i run it often and do not have much or any trouble with the mission you need to find a fleet that runs these often and know how to get throug them. they only hard if your group has no idea what to do. we like to help others out when we can. so if you see me in game send a tell and will if we can get a group set up to help you through the mission. my main toon flatsnake@flatout. my fleet uses skyp as our voice to do missions and chat.

I am bar far no expert in the game but if I am able to do Infected with a group of 4 other PUGs, with no voice chat, and beat it, than it is not impossible. Play smart, have half decent setups and make sure you work as a TEAM.
I'd be happy to even get a group to try Infected myself. Been playing since June and not once have I ever managed to find a group for...well...any of the STFs really.
To be honest I agree with OP.
I tried Infected once again yesterday ( never managed to complete it ) and I have to say it´s really frustrating.
Drones moving crazy fast almost running around I mean WTF?
Drones one shotting me with full shields and full health......
I haven´t bothered with STF´s till now and I think I go on avoiding those. No fun - not at all.
And this is truely a pitty as these should be our endgame raids.
But so - no thx.
- take only geen - blue or purple gear with you.
- if you die a lot try to take a medic with you. (im a Medic and i saved my team many times from wiping)
- make someone riad Leader.
- read all the same guide, and try to do the STF by the Guide
- don't run into rooms
- make it clear for every team member what his / her job in the team is. (pullers, medic, dome setters etc)
- use you're skills (and take the right kit with you) (the dome of the Engineer is very useful)
- COMMUNICATE with each other! (especially the pullers)
- look for a fleet (we do Infected every day, FED and KDF)
i hope is useful advice.
also note; when in we first did Infected with my fleet it took us also 4 hours and a lot of wiping
I am by far no expert in the game but if I am able to do Infected with a group of 4 other PUGs, with no voice chat, and beat it, than it is not impossible. Play smart, have half decent setups and make sure you work as a TEAM.
This is the only advice anybody will ever need to beat an STF
All of them can be completed with white MK X gear, and sub-par kits, if your team actually knows how to work together.
Your time spent complaining could be used finding people who team well with others, and joining their fleet, or becoming friends with them.
Gozer, don't nerf the STF's. In fact, make the next ones even more challenging. This kind of content appeals to me, and many others! We could use a bug clean-up on Terradome... and random purples... and MK XI random purples at that.
EDIT
By Purples that are random, I mean completely random modifiers and gear. After all, we can craft or grind emblems for gear, we as STF raiders deserve a truly random gear selection from our raids.
Also, the loot tables need a LOT of attention to detail, in fact, I think the loot system needs a re-vamp. I think the wildly successful Diablo 2 could be a great example of an addictive loot system. STO's system is lack luster at best.
/EDIT
A lot of attention to detail is what needs to be done for the STF's. Actually a lot of STO suffers from a lack of attention to detail. I assume the team isn't big enough to cope with all these issues at the same time...
On a sidenote, Gozer, should you read this... when will we have a new STF(S)? The 528th are eager for new challenges considering we dominate what's currently out there!
Infected has nothing on the cure or KA, are you sure you aren't playing on advanced or elite? Pug infecteds only last an hour max with a semi-decent group
As he said. All STF's are preset and their is no difficulty slider to adjust. This part of the game is like this for a reason. My fleet runs Infected each night in under an hour tops (that is we take breaks), usually 45 minutes. Granted, proto drones since season 3 got a major bump in health and power, but they can be killed. Wipe the easy ones first and then kill the hard ones. Also, Focus FIre on the same targets to take them down quicker. Domes - pop one in a door way and they can't come through after you. STF's are not going away nor does cryptic plan to make them easier for those people unwilling to team up. If you can't pug it, PM me at @StrykerV in game and maybe I can run you through it.
I am bar far no expert in the game but if I am able to do Infected with a group of 4 other PUGs, with no voice chat, and beat it, than it is not impossible. Play smart, have half decent setups and make sure you work as a TEAM.
I dunno, if it takes you 4 other PUGs to do it, that's quite something. I mean, taking 5 whole groups into a one group instance...that's how raids got started. No, seriously, that's why raids exist in MMOs, people taking multiple groups for what was supposed to be a one group thing in EQ
I agree though that they aren't too hard for the most part as long as a little bit of teamwork is applied:
1. A reasonable mix of weaponry, not everyone with exploit stuff, in other words.
2. Pull only one group at a time. This goes best if one person handles the pulling.
3. Kill the nodes.
4. Kill the big tactical guys last or at least not first.
5. Fighting retreats for the win! And move as a group when doing it.
That will pretty much get you through the ground parts in all the STFs, other than the shield dropping for the Cure. And you can find various strats for that.
That said, Infected is actually the most annoying one, due to the quantity of area covered with a pretty high mob density, many of whom root and otherwise annoy. It could stand to be toned down a bit, as it is the first STF and should be a bit more inviting to sucker people in.
The Cure shield dropping can be annoying, just need the right strat, not too big of deal. Do think it could be improved by having to drop one less shield, just to make it a bit less grindy. But that is not so much about difficulty as it is lack of doing the same thing over and over.
And for KA, well, actually found that one pretty easy. About all I'd like to see there is 4 generators, rather than 6. Again, a simple annoyance factor. If you can kill 4, you can kill 6. Having to do it 6x doesn't really add anything to the mission.
really? Hard? My fleet finished it in 45 minutes and didn't wipe once. If you do the STF's with a fleet with a well balanced team then you will be fine. Oh and always make sure you have a healer, make your life much much easier
And as stated before infected is the easiest of em all
INFECTED IS IMPOSSIBLE! PLEASE MAKE IT EASIER! MANY TEAMS I HAVE PLAYED WITH HAVE FAILED BECAUSE ITS TOO HARD! I am 6 above them yet they still can kill us with one shot! Please do something! I have finished this mission countless times already on both RA and VA, it is not impossible. You just need at least one person who has done it before and the team has to be patient. Willing to work together, listen to the person who has completed it and most importantly, you all need time. They are tests of endurance more then anything. Mind numbing repeated actions until you reach the end. If the bugs and poor design hasn't worn you out, you can do it. Bring hypos and shields and repel weapons.
1: Stop being a hero (Hence: Do you at any time or point in the mission run in alone, you're a n00b, and dead).
2: Look at what your team mates are shooting at, and shoot the same (Hence more shooting at the same targets means the enemy dies faster).
3: Stick together and work together (Hence if someone says "I may know how to beat this", you might want to listen).
Quite frankly: Claminig that it has to be nerfed is a sign of your teams inability to work together and get over the ego-run.
STF means Special Task Force and not Solo Task Force.
Every time i've run a STF we've failed, it has been because someone did'n work together in one way or another, and that's what is wrong here too.
Last night I tried it one last time. I had 3 guys on vent and one not. We failed with the guy offline so we decided to quit but then as we were about to quit a friend came on and he helped us beat the mission. Now this is a guy who has taken out the Borg Queen twice in the same night in 10 minutes. He killed her and we won. So this post is basically closed.

1) I refuse to abuse my keyboard that much
2) anything that is for a group should have a solo option without the awards granted for a group victory
and
3) whoever designed the STFs only gave us rewards so we go into the STFs to justify his/her position at cryptic
