I played this game 6 months ago, let my subscription lapse. I honestly wasn't sure if this game was worth buying another subscription for... to be honest, I'm still not. Regardless, I wanted to come onto these forums and ask some of hte playerbase what they thought. Imagine my surprise when there was a major lack of foresight when it came to the forum administration policy where the "locked from posting in forums" is extended to _all_ forums, with no way for potential subscribers to post questions on the worthiness of this game. Can't post in general discussion, or in feedback or in any of the technical support sections.
I'd also like to suggest that Cryptic consider allowing a technical support thread in these forums, I had issues trying to resubscribe earlier, the Atari Support section was a JOKE, a joke with no frigging punchline. I was about 5 seconds away from just throwing this game away forever due to the bureuocracy of getting a few questions answered.
Something _has_ to be done, a new unrestricted forum section for users to post queries in, or perhaps relaxing the forum restrictions a bit so as long as you account has a subscription (whether it's expired or not) they may post in one or two sections instead of being locked out completely like a non-subscriber.
I subscribe to 7 MMOs. Everyone of them has Subscriber-Only forums. That's basically the industry standard to keep trolls and other undesirables, such as Gold Vendors, off the forum. And there is a whole Tech section of the forum.
Yes, and when there's no other avenues to contact tech support or make enquiries into the game except through subscriber only forums, your'e basically saying, "Pay 14 bucks just to talk to us", aren't you?
You're coming back to the game with an attitude. That tells me you've wasted your "14 bucks" as nothing they do is going to please you, in game or out.

Trust your instincts, they are almost always right.
Ignore flamers, you posted this as a suggestion, I think personally a desire to help is a perfect attitude. Thank you for sharing.
Count, all things regrading forums and the support method are typical of every one of the 40 or so MMORPGs I have played. Yeah, it can suck when trying to get an answer. In the forums technical section you can usually get an answer from other players or a dev pretty fast. The support section of the Atari site network is no worse or better than any other game. That kind of service is REALLY expensive and is the first thing outsourced because of that expense. Always go to the players before going to support as a general rule of thumb for any MMORPG.
which really brings me back to my original point, doesn't it? How do you "go to the players for help" if you're locked out of the one place you know has:
a) players of the game
b) people who like/know the game
is one of the few. odd when i have problems google tends to solve 99% of them yet some dont seem to be able to use that resource be it lack of understanding or patience.

Forgive me but can you not contact atari tech support without an account? it may be a run around but if you have patience you get your answer. *hopefully*
on a side note i somewhat agree wtih you
but seeing as you are posting you msut have ressubbed? === WIN for Cryptic and Atari. it may be bs but its BS you payed for.
and yoru lack of knowing that there is a tech support section is disturbing

I was planning to resub anyway, but I'm still not sure this game is worth 14 bucks a month for though... But that's a completely different story. I'm just highlighting that the lack of technical support and general inquiry support in general (Atari's support was generally worthless for all the issues/queries i had) is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed.
