Sorry Cryptic you forum search engine has to be the single most usless - unfriendly engine I have even encountered. I tried to look up information on the Tribble Yu and was informed Yu doesn't meet the minum 3 word requirement . So tried Stats for Yu Tribble again same error . Do you mean 3 letter or word ? and if it does happen to be letter nice going. FYI the current stats showing on the Yu tribble appear to be incorrect for the level as they are the same as the Highison which is the level above the Yu.

Here is a Thread with most of the stuff reguarding Tribbles

This is to prevent searches for "to", "a", "oh", etc. because those words appear in virtually every post.
Stupid Question then.....Why make an item with a Two Letter Name, "Yu", if the search is limited to Three Letter Wods or more??????????
The OP is right, that does not make sence.
It's because a small search like that can cause massive hits to the search engine. Imagine searching for the word "to" in the word of Shakespeare.
The idea behind good searching is figuring out ways to broaden such a narrow search. Tribble Information threads would most likely talk about all the variants (including Yu). Is it likely that Yu has a thread dedicated to it? No, but the idea of tribble breeding has several threads, including a stickied one in the Starfleet Academy discussion.)
For information about tribbles you can check out this tribble breeding and evolution chart.
As for the search engine, no word can be less than 2 letters. It would be a major strain on the engine for searches with 2 letters.
Or, ya know, you coulda searched on "Tribble Breeding" and gotten a good number of results, including a couple, oh, STICKIED in the Academy Forum, which is where most people would start their search.
Better than blaming a search engine with a minimum-length keyword requirement, anyway. Basic rule ogf Google: "If you don't get any results, REWORD YOUR SEARCH or USE LESS SEARCH TERMS". In this case, dropping the "Yu" would have gotten you what you wanted once you got back the breeding stickys - which show up on keyword "Tribble".
Learn2search, for cryin' out loud.
Because most rational people would have searched on "Tribble" or "Tribble Breeding". The limit makes sense, when you consider just how many two-letter hits you'd get in doing a Body search. That is, if you can think "outside YOUR box", that is.
Yes, I have to agree, this is true. I type entire phrases in the forum search and /every/ time it tells me I need to meet the 3 word minimum. BROKEN BUSTED KAPUT. It does not work.
The best searches you'll get are from Google. Just do something like 'your topic+star trek online' and you will usually get a 90% match.

The search term you specified (so) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.

what about lol, nerf, 'klinks too powerful' and 'i'm quitting'?
All in all, it's not usually that hard to re-word your search to find useful results. Though granted, it can be irksome at times when you're trying to search for specific names that fall outside the accepted criteria. In this case though, it's a pretty industry-standard system -- best to take it in stride and do what you can to work with it.
According to that logic the error is never ever between the chair and the keyboard, it's always the software...
Should they also change the all item and NPC names in game that has a word with just 2 letters as well?
Sorry, but I hope they won't bother with it.
The search will look for each word you type, and each word must have a minimum of three letters, because it treats each word separately and shows you the aggregated results for both sets of words.
If you wish to search for a phrase, use quotation marks. I searched for "yu tribble" and it worked just fine because it searches for the whole phrase as a single search term.
And I think STO uses a common forum system, so it's the same as a lot of other forums out on the Web, with the same search system.
Want to search for a phrase? Quotation marks!
This.
I'm surprised the OP didn't lay demands that either they fix this or they are leaving the game, considering the content in forum posts lately. Time and time again, i'm seeing people on this forum jump quickly into claiming this and that are the worst possible things in the world, without even understanding how things work in the first place. Do people have any thought about what they are trying to do? Try typing in a few letters into Goggle and seeing how much comes up. Plain stupid really when you spend a little more than a second thinking about it.
And yes Callasan, the problem here lies in with people living and thinking inside their box, and not looking at the bigger picture. The world does not, and will not ever revolve around them, so why they think it does, and why they assume they are always in the right, makes me so angry. Think people, seriously!
Just FYI - Cryptic didn't design the BBS search engine - it's just the way the VBulletin software is. So, I take it you've either not been to many Forum boards that use the VBulletin software - again, it's a rather common 'off the shelf' software for nternet bulletin boards.
Yep. It's also why I don't use vB.
But it doesn't matter what software you use, they all have the minimum restriction. Its a setting, and they could turn it up if they wished, but they won't and they should not. Because such a small string search would hammer the database on a large forum like this one, and make it unusable.
So until you have even a small amount of knowledge about database search functions, you really have no business telling Cryptic or anyone else how to manage their web software.
What you really need to do is learn to use the search engine to its full capability.
Like for instance, if you wanted to search for the Yu Tribble, search "Yu Tribble" INCLUDING THE QUOTES and it will search for both words together and will work just fine.
Its somewhat alarming that you exist on the Internet and haven't learned simple tasks like that, I can't imagine you get much use of out Google or Bing or whatever if you can't search properly.
Maybe time to take a few days off of STO and get yourself some learning, so next time you storm in and get angry at Cryptic, you'll know better.
