I still do great with 6 beam arrays and two torpedo launchers. If NPC's manage to stay behind you while you want them in your broadside you're doing something wrong. There's Evasive Maneuvers, Eject Warp Plasma, Deuterium Surplus, tractor beam, Auxiliary to Dampeners or just raising the turn rate of your cruiser with engines and RCS accelerators.
When the enemy starts to fly behind me.. sometimes I use Evasive Manuvers , or just lock on a tractor beam and unload 3 torpedos to their hull . Sometimes I cut engine speed down to half so I can turn better and keep them in range of my front torpedo launchers. I guess you could also use an engine battery to turn yourself quicker.

Say what?
More to the point. Thats a creative way to solve a problem you were having. Kudos.
I'm not sure why you are experiencing this, as I have not seen anything like this, or had any problems with it, regardless of what ship type I was in. I think either you're having bad luck, or you've started fighting different enemies.
That said, an all turret build is viable. You can see how it stacks up in the weapon power chart links in my sig. If you use CRF1 or CSV1 with it, it can deliver a fair amount of damage. With CRF1 you'll do more than with a like number of beams in broadside. Of course, CRF won't be active all of the time, but it has the advantage of working in every firing arc. CSV1 can do pretty good damage too if you can get 3 targets being hit at once.
So, I got 3 tac consols and all are +32 cannon - those stack right, for +96?
No. You get diminishing returns using more consoles of the same type. I'm not sure what the exact amount is, but the first will give you +32, the next will probably give around +16, with the last one giving +8.
You can see the bonus if you check out your ships stats. Add each console and it'll show you the bonuses they add.
Also, only armor resist consoles have diminishing returns, you can check by watching the tooltip. Every phaser console on my ship gives me roughly 78 more DPS.
I run 4 cannon and 4 turrets on an excelsior... very nice dps all the time... every angle... slow down and burn them to the ground every time... CSV3 and CRF2 FTW...
IT's really a question of personal taste. IF you are going ability heavy a full turret ship might let you concentrate more one that than what arc your weapons are in.I personally have never done it but thats more because Im a stickler for tradition than anything else.
I use an assault cruiser, and I have it fitted with two dual beams on the front, a quantum torp on the front, a tri-cobalt on the front, two arrays on the back, quantum on the back, and the transphasic clusters on the back. The Assault cruiser has the worst turn rate of any ship in the fleet(although I have the Excelsior, so it is SLIGHTLY better than the rest of the Assault Cruisers), and I have no problem with guys getting behind me.
That's the beauty of a cruiser. Sure, an escort is deadly from the front, but there is no reprieve when it comes to a cruiser.
i've been using 2 dual banks, one phaser on photon in front 2 turrets and 2 phasers in back on my galaxy retro.
in pve things usually die before they get a chance to get behind. pvp i rely on 2 ep2s, 2 et2, HE2 and polorize hull if they get behind me... when i get them in front of me they usually take off pretty quick.
one sheild cap, weapon power, hull repair and resistance for eng console

Incorrect answer. Diminishing returns only happens with PERCENTAGE consoles, not numeric bonus consoles.
Although I agree...go into space (NOT sector space, an actual system like Sol) and play with the console configurations, taking your cue from the damage listed in the tooltips for the weapons themselves. Don't use any other buffs.
is it the one where you have to gain like 10 pieces if something and turn it in? it has been a time since i have loged in and am just trying to remember since i have not seen that item.

Its the Fuel Depot one in Alhena, I believe. Ferengi-owned depot being attacked by True Way supporters.
Each time you run it you can acquire up to 4 of those Surplus items, which effectively are Evasive Maneuvering in a can. You get one from each surviving tank, plus one as a mission reward. Just remember to go to each of the tanks and beam it up.

The mission in eta where you must protect the satellites - Alhena system I think. You get one for completion, then you can raid the satellites for one each at the end of the mission.
Well, I'm at least glad to see I'm not the only one who uses turrets.
I've had them on my cruiser for months now (only 6 and 2 torps mind you). I just do it because I fly a cruiser and it's just plain simpler to do. Personally, I wish there was some beam equivalent to a cannon-based turret, but I changed to cannon useage for them all the same.

Item found in one of the Devidian dailies.

Turrets use cannon skills and consoles. Beam skills and consoles won't help you at all.
For PvE solo or PvP they just don't have the punch.
My only success was with a support-role sci shield-stripper that was quite effective (for that specific task).
But as far as DPS goes (and actual killing), a pure turret boat is a bit underpowered (looks coool as hell all lit up, though).
ymmv
