Okay, with all this talk about the $25 KDF ship, everyone is ignoring the bigger issue. Cryptic released the TMP uniforms.

So I have a question:
Who is planning on buying this ugly uniform to wear? Why?(we need to know so we can adjust your medication ;))

I'm sure I'll be getting it. I live variety and choices and the ability to mix and match things. :)

I don't mind the uniforms... TMP sucked, I felt bored from beginning to end watching it. However, the uniforms themselves look fine to me.

But I was the idiot that bought the DS9 uniforms with left over Cryptic Points. I could have just swapped the colors between the shoulder and undershirt on the First Contact uniforms and had more-or-less the same thing.

Its a uniform I would use, I'd just never buy anything from the C-store. Another problem is cryptic only releases one uniform out of a set, so that they are never really right. The Uniform they released is the TMP captain/admiral uniform. Not the one all the crewman were wearing, and not the uniform they used on away teams, which is usually the only time we see our officers/captain in game anyway. Just like they never released the crewman uniform from the Wrath of Khan+ movies. Hard to put together a correct crew when you only get about 1/3 of what they were wearing historically.

The poor klingons don't even have any of their canon uniforms. We have fragments of two, and thats it.

I won't be getting it so don't adjust my medication. I'm good at current levels.

    Never liked "Disco Trek" myself.

...i guess when my Nerd Rage over another $25 Ship has ended i will decide that i buy the costume on the next sale because i just dont want to give Cryptic any more C-Points then i realy need.

No realy, i usually buy all the clothing options and if it isn't a "must have NOW" one. like the ENT pack (well it had a Ship!), then i wait for the next sale.

Right now i am still waiting for the next sale to get the Troi *Uniform*.

If i wasn't so pi**ed about the Ship i probably would have bought the TMP Uniform today, now i'll wait.... just because of that.

I loved the TMP Uniforms. They were way better than the TOS Uniforms and with the right colors, they have great potential to represent Futuristic Uniforms.

I was thinking about it but they aren't canon, as the uniforms in the C-Store don't accentuate the package as well as they do in TMP.

    :(

How can you not have loved TMP? I mean, we hadn't seen Kirk, or Spock, or Bones for 10 years when it opened in theaters!

Trek was just a fond memory, canceled and over, and then BAM, a MOVIE! With awesome special effects, and THE ENTIRE ORIGINAL CREW signed up!

Oh, let me guess, you didn't see it in the theater, and probably weren't even alive.

Well, for those of us who were actually there, and have been Trek fans for 40 years now, TMP was amazing.

I will never forget how excited I was, standing in line with my friends to buy tickets to see TMP. What a great childhood memory. :)

No, I wasn't born yet. And while my dad and brother were HUGE TNG fans, I myself didn't start appreciating Star Trek until I started watching DS9 reruns after that show had ended.

So, no, I felt not sense of nostalgia seeing TMP, and it was just horrible, IMO.

Speaking more generally, I recall hearing George Takei (on one of those anniversary specials I think) saying that the reason the TPM uniforms weren't used again after that first film was because when the actors had to use the restroom they required someone to help them in and out of the uniform, and the actors did not want to have to suffer that kind of indignity again.

    Amen.

You'd better believe I bought the TMP uniforms! Why? Because, as others have noted, they fuel some wonderful nostalgia. They're representative of a unique era in the Star Trek timeline--and they are, in and of themselves, unique when compared to other uniforms. And I know I can't be the only one who's an absolute completist when it comes to Starfleet uniforms. My time-traveling starship crew has got to have them all!

I hadn't seen TMP until I decided to write about in my end-of-quarter paper in Humanities. I guess it was dstahl's numerous posts that got me to watch it and my critique of postmodernism after the Korean and Vietnam conflicts served as the basis.

I felt TMP is trying a high-concept metaphor without Kubrick's technical flair. It's not a bad film, per-se. It's just obviously outclassed by Kubrick's deeper film. 2001: A Space Odyssey-lite is what I'd call it.

TMP is a good movie, but not a great one. The pacing is slow and it is more of a scientific investigation than an action movie, like all of the later movies became. It's like watching an episode of Law & Order, as opposed to Cops.

That said, I also bought the TMP uniforms, because more costume options is always good.

For your information, some people like the TMP uniform. It had a nice pattern but a bad color scheme which is why most people hated it. I mean, I bought it. You dont see me hating it. It's also canon. I have a bigger issue with them putting in the overpowered pizza cutter known as the Enterprise J .

I'd get it, if it weren't for the still-growing set of gameplay-affecting items that can only be bought in the C-store. They're not getting another penny from me until those can be earned in game.
