I think the new sector space is an improvement, but only that... Giving us the ability to turn off the grid and changing the background graphics...and adding the warp streaks, thats all good and dandy. However, how about giving us the OPTION of controlling the ship from the bridge. Simply clicking on the navigation officer and he will give you a list of star systems to go to. You select one and your off. You can go to your quarters, go to your office, etc.. Why not even add more things to do ON BOARD YOUR SHIP to pass time until you get there. And if you want to control your ship in the current way, you have that option.
It sucks that you can only place trophies on board your ships and thats all. Also, why is it that EVERY ship has the exact same crew deck and engineering decks? Thats alittle redundant don't you think? I mean, my defiant class refit has the same engine as the rookie ship. come on?
Also...on the bridge. Where are the officers? On board a federation starship, the conn and ops stations are to be manned at all times....however, in the game, those seats are vacant.
Why not add a holodeck in the ships interior. That way, we can recreate the original enterprise bridge and interior and explore during downtime....or other ships/places.

Anyone else agree with this?
Yeah pal, don't know if you haven't been on the forums much, but I think everyone here agrees with this, for the most part. The ships have the same interior and not much to do on them right now because the devs said they'd get back around to making the interiors more useful after they fixed the more major stuff...like mission breaking bugs and klingon content woes. There are probably 200 threads covering this stuff if you want to track them down for dev quotes.
The things I don't mind not having from your list are:
Navigate from ship interior: Personally, I quit playing Bridge Commander a few years ago. I hear a lot of folks still play it thou, so maybe that is where you can get your fix?
You asked... "where are the officers? On board a federation starship, the conn and ops stations are to be manned at all times....however, in the game, those seats are vacant."
Are you kiddin? Its standing room only on my bridge. As far as which stations are to be manned at all times on a starship - its a video game about space ships. Sorry if your immersion suffers, but again, the Devs have had much bigger fish to fry. Until very recently, your own toon had sit-in-chair issues so cheer up. Things can only improve for you.

There's a pretty big gap between 'fight from the bridge' a la Bridge Commander which didn't even work all that well in Bridge Commander and 'let the ship keep going on autopilot through the empty, relatively pointless expanse of sector space while you're doing something else inside your ship'.

What does bridge commander have to do with STO? I really don't care what you would or wouldn't mind. And this is an MMO, advertised to be an immersive game in the world of Star Trek. So, yes...if this GAME isn't in detail completely star trek, then it isn't truely what it's advertised and it breaks licencing aggreements with the owners of the Star Trek universe.
One thing I am completely sick of is star trek games where it's nothing more than space / ground shoot em ups. Star Trek isn't about War!!! And I'm sorry, the expanse zones are just a cheap and easy way to give us exploration.
They could put in random events that spontainiously pop up no matter where you are or what sector your in. Say your flying to k-7 and you get a strange energy reading that you have to make a detour to get to and investigate. It turns out to be an ancient ship, or an energy vortex that must be analyzed, etc....
Also, I don't like how the zones are set up. I'm a Vice Admiral, and the only way I can get any challenging actions is if I go to the borg or the devidian zones? I get no challenges in sirius, or regulus?
Also, here's a detail the devs forgot..... The briar patch..... there is supposed to be a solar system inside the briar patch....remember the soh'na? The planet that is essencially the planet of youth?
When will the hallways and rooms onboard the ships/planets be more to scale? They are WAY too huge.
Not sure if you know this but there are 3 ship interiors to choose from. Small, Medium and Large. When you select your bridge in ship customization there is another tab and that changes the layout of your engineering and crew decks.
All those things sounds great, but the mechanics dont currently exist. Also, they take time make. Do you think the Devs should quit working on actual content(aka things to do) so you can be on your bridge during travel? Its a matter of priorities, and ATM one of the factions isnt even complete(by the Devs standards).

You've got to be kidding me, right? You DO know that CBS approves absolutely everything that goes into this game, right? How is this game breaking license agreements? And when did you see a written guarantee that this game would be "in detail complete"?
That's got to be one of the most irrational comments I've heard yet.

Been a lot of this lately. Complaints along the lines of "why is something thats this way, been discussed ad naseum for months, and we were told would be this way for the indefinite future, still this way?" or my personal pet peeve complaint "This isn't Star Trek!".
OP, please read the older forum posts. All of your complaints (even the irrational ones) have been discussed and commented on by players and devs. Then, realize that what you like about trek and what makes it trek for you, isn't the same for everyone. I like the shoot-em-up aspects of this game. I also liked the Dominion WAR (yeah...a war...in Trek....whoa) story arch in the shows and find that its nice to see trek ships doing a little TRIBBLE-kickin for a change.
Basically, you've tried it. You don't seem to like it. Maybe you should spend your sub $ on something more to your tastes?
