So Cryptic, now that you made people invulnerable in PVP, when are we going to get Borg and Aegis weapons to counter?

i would like to see weapons get their own sets of some type (does not have to be borg or aegis) although the huge number and types does make it difficult.

When we can get this stuff via PvP I will support weapons. Until then, I would like to at least be able to pretend to survive against a borg fed group.

I hope the Aegis crafting set is expanded to see a greater variety of weapons, items etc. At least now the community can make the missions, so Cryptic will be able to concentrate on things like this.

Id like to see a weapon set that fires all aft cannon weapons at the same time in one colossal beam of pwnage. Beams can have one that fires all beams in a circle, shooting down/nullifying incoming fire(regular torpedoes and beams included) and does an aoe effect to boot.

The Aegis set could really do with a disc thrower weapon :p

I'm going to agree with the fact that it will be difficult, unless there are special weapons that use every type's bonuses/skills (phaser, disruptor, etc.). Otherwise, you end up with a situation like with the retrofit phaser beam array from the Devidian mission. I can't use it on a couple of my ships due to my preference for other types, and it is useless for my escort (don't use beams).

I disagree that we need special weapons, however. What are you going to do? Add weapon power? Make a 4-bonus weapon (an "epic rare," if you will)? Add some special power, like an energy siphon or something? I think just adding a new bonus (more than just CrtH, CrtD, Dmg, and Acc) would be best to improve weapons. On a side note, I would like to see single cannons on the aft weapon slots though, it makes cruisers more symmetric (one of my quirks) and makes the rear firepower increase over just turrets in the back.

It's not as if everyone doesn't have access to the new gear. You can run the STFs and you can craft. If you don't feel like crafting, there are tons of people that will craft it for you, given that you give them the materials for it.

Any PvPer who whines about having to do the STF missions should have his license to use the term "carebear" automatically revoked.

I'm not even slightly a PvPer, and I'm posting this while beating Inflected. Again.

They're deemed invulnerable a mere 24 hours after launching? How many builds did you run through during testing?

Actually with the Aegis set, you pretty much can make yourself invulnerable (to such a degree that it makes a farce out of old RSP.)

Pop Evasive, having already hit the defense cap and you have a 106.2 (without Elusive...... which makes it even higher) Defense. Most shots coming in at that point, even Accurate characters, with accurate weapons are going to miss you far more often than not. This has been repeated again and again in pvps both with teams and in pugs. I didn't need to have a ship that was built -even better-. And frankly given that I play in a Team (as in premade group and on vent) it was already a Turkey Shoot in pvp against pugs. Now our healers don't even have to work at it to make a joke out of incoming fire.

This is a horrible situation, because healing was already incredibly strong in this game.

This set is the very definition of broken. (and yeah I've got mine already. So no I'm not one of the Have nots complaining about the haves) The borg set is actually balanced now, due to the fact that it's special shield regen can proc at a -bad time-. And probably will do so the more fire that pours in, and it has a 45 sec cooldown.

The Borg equipment is Terrible in comparison, and is still a somewhat attractive option if it weren't for the Aegis. My equipment? Aegis, and soon to be one borg console.

The Aegis defense bonus really needs to be addressed. As it stands right now, barring a HUGE player skill disparity between teams, the team with all Aegis (or just a couple guys with it) are going to win, more than 9/10 times.

heh they do that everytime the feds get a new ship.

Regardless of how much the ship in Reality is brokenly underpowered.

Precisely. Aegis is very powerful in PvE and PvP. But the Borg gear, well I way overestimated it. The Regenerative shields are greatly lacking.

Yep, the Aegis equipment is superior, especially with the full set. Most people will run the Borg console and a full set of Aegis equipment.

Indeed. And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the majority of people use it in the Science slots.

And after doing some crafting, it got me thinking how Cryptic's revised crafting has pretty much trivialized emblems as well. So they really need to go back to the drawing board and rethink what should be drops, what should be rewards, and what should be crafted.

They are absolutely not overpowered, if you actually test both sets... the the Borg set is way more powerful. You can check my post here:

    http://forums.startrekonline.com/showpost.php?p=3234549&postcount=301

I extensively tested both full sets before they were released.

This is the problem with tagging on content after release that wasn't in the initial plan. I completely agree, crafting has made emblems a waste of time and effort - once I levelled crafting yesterday (didn't realise how useful it was before) I maxed out all the remaining slots on my ship that otherwise would have taken months of dailies - don't get me wrong, I am not complaining :p

Emblems were always a waste of effort, ever since Day 1!!! :p

The only thing they are good for is the shield strenght conosole and buying more ships.
    Other than that its worthless.
Mk X PvP weapons are superior to Emblem ones, as are the shields, and many "Badge" Impulse engines are superior to both Mk X PvP and Mk XI Emblem engines.

So its pretty hard to trivialize something that is already trivial.

Crafting is not so much faster. As long as you have all the materials it is faster but once you run out, and can't afford to buy them, it can take a while to find the rare trace you need.

Still faster than waiting for and doing dailies.

Actually I would have nothing against being able to craft custom weapons or having access to get Borg beam arrays, Aegis weapons, etc. As long as its not easy and takes effort.

Doesn't the BFG on the Nausicaan ship count as a new weapon?

Did many PvPs last night with my new Aegis set. One of us sucks at PvP because I was not anywhere near invulnerable. I'm sure it is me. Tell me more about your build, cause mine ain't working that well.

You and me both. Or it could be that some Alpha Strikers are going to have to change their tactics again, and they are upset. No, couldn't be that. We just suck. ;)

I would say that it does take effort, but now it is not nearly impossible to do it without going to the exchange. I did a lot of farming as I went along and saved all my rare particle traces. It paid off with the revamp of the system and the introduction of the Aegis set.

For a new character, there won't be instantaneous leveling. This will be truer once the rare particle traces that everyone has accumulated get used up and disappear off the exchange.
