Fleet Action Revamp Idea Thread

Devs have already said they'd like to revamp Fleet Actions, so that you can create private instances. They've also talked about "raid tools" to make large groups to deal with them. Here's some more ideas.

Let's queue up!

Perhaps the way we do PvP now is better suited to Fleet Actions. Instead of flying off to some system and being dropped into a battle that's 90% finished, maybe we could have a queue, where you can have PUGs and premades and always start from the beginning. The level equalizer in PvP will eliminate the need for level banding all together.

Make them scalable!

Adjust the level and number of enemies to the team laeder's level, and the number of players. They can be little solo skirmishes (with no first place rewards, of course), or massive raids where 20 captains are competing for 1st place.

Make them about the war!

People say that the war between the Klingons and the Federation doesn't matter, and is just an excuse to PvP. This is true. The war is purely waged between small groups of kids trying to pwn each other, thus turning an epic story into a brainless Halo deathmatch that virtually nobody bothers to participate in.

Instead, let's make a series of FA about raiding the enemy faction's planets, or defending strategic points, or securing supply lines, or hunting cloaked BoP/Defiant wolfpacks, or patrolling the Neutral Zone. Fleet Actions should have the players engaging in activities which feel like part of the war.

Make them PvP!

But let's not leave PvPers out in the cold, either.

Much has been made of Kerrat's numerous flaws. There's nothing else quite like it in the game, and frankly, it just sticks out like a sore thumb. It doesn't make sense as a PvP mode unto itself.

So instead, let's make it a new kind of fleet action, a PvPvE Fleet Action. Since the war now includes fleet actions (see above), let's make a series of competitive PvP fleet actions. Players from both factions compete to accomplish war-related objectives (sort of like cap and hold, but . . . y'know, good.) With the raid tools, they could have massive objective-based battles without the nastiness and unfairness that open PvP seems to bring to the table.

Make them more random!

Mix up the enemies a bit each time you play. Perhaps one time, the first enemy group is a bunch of fighters, and the next, it's a bunch of battlecruisers. Maybe you go to fight the Klingons, but sometimes, you bump into the True Way, instead. Surprise us. Give us a reason to come back.

Give the players control!

With the Foundry coming, perhaps it's time for the playerbase to take a crack at designing some Fleet Actions.

Give us unique rewards!

Ignore people who complain about the Borg items. This game needs more interesting loot, and it needs more than one or two sets.

If you do fleet actions a lot, you ought to be rewarded with unique equipment at all tiers (same with crafting, PvP, ect).
