Like title says, are you devs planning something special for our first sto xmas...like i dont know....
-releasing the new esd exterior
*add what you would like to be released for xmas
At first, the devs weren't going to do anything for Christmas. But then they were filled with the spirit of the holiday, and they put together this special video for everyone. Enjoy!
As I've mentioned several times before, we don't currently have any plans for an in-game holiday event.
Instead of spending lots of time working on an event that you'll only play for a few weeks out of the year, we're focusing our energy on continuing to improve the game you get to play year long.
Later on down the line, I'm sure we'll come up with some other holiday events, but those will most likely not be traditional "Holiday" events. As most current real world holidays simply don't make much sense in the STO setting.

You could always get set items and foundry out to holodeck

Does that at least mean we could look for themed events like the Devidian series?
I mean, there's a TNG episode with a colony of 19th century Irish guys that would work for St. Patrick's Day, roughly, something Caesar inspired for the Ides of March, maybe a family union or something for the holidays next year, etc.
I really can't speak highly enough of how the "Halloween" episode this year turned out, both in terms of working as a seasonal event and yet also working as permanent content.
Though one thing I will say for seasonal content, once core content is more robust, is that it gives people incentive to play year round and not skip months, particularly if you follow WoW's example and have, basically, month-specific accolades that chain together for a larger accolade for something like a ship. Miss a month and you wait another year to get it. There is some incentive there.

Hm, in Star Trek Humans foundet Starfleet. They foundet the Federation in Cooperation with other Spezies. Starfleet Headquarter is on Earth. The Presidents Office is on Earth. And there is more than one example of Christmas in Star Trek. Thanks giving is in TOS too. And you really want to say that "traditonal holidays" like these are not making sense as an holiday event in a Game with a Star Trek setting? You can't be serious.
How about First Contact day, with a re-enactment of Zephram Cochrane meeting the vulcans in Montana?
I'd show up for that.

Especially if we get the alternate "Mirror Universe" version as well.. as seen in the two-part ENT episode In A Mirror Darkly. Heh, clasic intro that...

Awww, not even a holiday tree in the lounge?
Ahhh, the Andorian tinsel, the Ferengi branch baubels, the blinking Lyran lights.

Glad to hear it. I can't imagine Starfleet stringing Xmas lights in their star bases.

Yeah? And?
We like playing something for only a few weeks out of the year. I mean, ****, most of us already did that with everything that was already in game. And then you introduced the weekly series...and now we're done with those.
Sorry, not a very strong excuse. And as far as "real world holidays don't make much sense in the STO setting," go watch Star Trek Generations, TOS "Catspaw," "Charlie X," and "Dagger of the Mind," DS9 "Blaze of Glory," and VOY "Deathwish," and tell me real world holidays don't make much sense.
Jeeze, use your imaginations. There have been a bunch of posts around the forums with people saying "Q play around and makes it snow in space." I'd have taken a Santa Q shenanigan.

Bravo, I used to think the 'holiday' events in most MMOs were pretty corny anyway, especially the ones in SWG. I'd rather you celebrated festivals that are actually in Star Trek. It seems more appropriate.
I'd like something nice in my inventory on Xmas day though, maybe give every character a random piece of Purple gear appropriate to their character level? Just as a token to say you love us ^_^

Ageed, well said Stormshade.
The same folks complaining about no "Holiday" events will be biting at your heels for content come December 26th.

Bottom line - find a better excuse.
I have to agree with yah
I mean... its ok to have ships that shouldnt exist in the time line but ohh my god cant have a xmas holiday event... THE HORROR

The notion of individual citizens celebrating their own culture's holidays is very different from the notion of the government sponsoring those holidays (and government sponsorship of Xmas would pretty much be required for Starfleet to string Xmas lights across ESB). Government sponsorship of Xmas, or any religious holiday for that matter, would conflict with Gene Roddenberry's vision of an enlightened, secular, multicultural society.

They are giving us another discount extended weekend in the C-Store....
>snor-kle<
Kind of like what they did during Thanksgiving even though Stormshade said they had something bigger planned.:p
I'd so love this.
That would work for me!!!! Using the TE dagger would also rock IMO.
Not goint to lie. But the current ESD reminds me so much of the main area from Super Mario Galaxy.

Or maybe a Festivus pole for my bridge.
