Dan, remember you making a comment on the last Ask Cryptic about "thinking" about getting rid of Ker'rat? Well man, just do it!

Just today while doing the Front Line / Resource mission you had someone enjoying themselves in making a mockery of people's religion and when asked to stop, the individual resorted into personal attacks regarding their posts on the forum.

Then on top of that, the usual Spawn camping by both sides, Klingons PvPing instead of competting, trash talk in zone chat, bugs, yadda yadda.

Just do us a favor boss, put the zone out of it's misery. It's the right thing to do.

You'd have the same problem in any PvP zone they'd replace Ker'rat with. Trolls are trolls no matter where they are at.

yeah, lets be clear the trash talking is because of the individual player not the zone. he will be a problem in any zone he is in so thats not the problem of ker'rat.

if someone acts that way then ignore them and report them.

in saying that the zone needs to go and something better in its place.

Something I've noticed is that these players usually aren't found in Arenas, or will not do arenas.

The problem is kerrat is a semi open pvp zone. Once it's filled Reinforcements can't arrive to save the day. Which is one of the many common tactics that certain spawn campers use regularly in addition to their spawn camping. If it were a true open pvp where passersbye could just open a can (for either side) alot of the griefers wouldn't be around for very long.

I was on wrapping up my daily when the conversation went down (or part of it) and yeah. Some people really do need their accounts permabanned.

There was a post about this not long ago.

Its the only zone where you can join in and kill some people without having to wait for a queue, or if you don't feel like joining one. It just needs improvements not deletion. And griefing happens everywhere, even normal zone chat. So people having arguments or flamewars in the chat is no reason for deleting the zone either (Thats why you can minimize the chat window or ignore the players or chat altogether).

No,they should not nuke it (this is what i posted in the other one):

-They should do a season 3.1 (or part of season 4-5) update where they change the Borg for True Way foes (since there are now True Way in the ETA sector. Plus it would remove the ''why are there Borg here sitting and doing nothing in the middle of ETA, and feds and klingons are fighting eachother instead of together with the borg'' plothole).

-Fix the ''ships getting stuck in the nodes'' problem by changing the objectives for some others, since it is True Way enemies we would be facing there. This would make the FFA aspect make sense here.

-If they add some random and multiple spawn points it would also help against the spawn camping.

-They could add some optional objectives where federation diplomatic ranks come into effect, where you could try to convince True Way ships or squadrons to back off or retreat using diplomacy instead of combat -for extra points-, where as the Klingons would have an ''kill x amount of ships in x amount of minutes'' also for extra points.

-Some PVP objectives could be added as well, like holding a zone against NPC ship attacks and/or enemy faction ships attacking it.

-Then at the end the faction with most total points (all the points of that faction's players summed up) wins the match, and the top 5 players (for each faction) with most individual points get scaled loot (just like in fleet actions)

With these changes Kerrat would at least be more interesting/playable while they add more changes (or a revamp) in the future.

Anywhere you combine PVP with those who suffer from what I like to call "Anonymous Social Syndrome" (or A.S.S. for short) you get boys with the need for excessive posturing, childish fits of anger and profanity and the need to make themselves feel better over others by blindly attacking about such things as their ability to play a game, all the way to their skin color and/or religion.

    The solution is-
A: Remove all forms of global communication.
    B: Cut PVP completely.
    C: Remove testosterone.

    I lean towards C, personally~

I don't understand why Kerrat need to be taken out. It's really the only place where you can have some type of open PvP. The game is lacking content, why take some out.

If you going to Kerrat to farm for gear and want to complain about getting blown-up, then you're doing it wrong. Complete the objectives while preventing the other team from doing it. I come to Kerrat to stop feds from completing the objectives. That's the point. If you don't like that, well, don't come to Kerrat.

No need to ruin it for others. What's wrong with farming fleetactions, or ESCs if you're not having any luck farming in Kerrat?

As others have said, Trash talking and flaming have "Zero" to do with Ker'rat itself.

What Ker'rat needs is proper fixing.

1.) Somehow once and for all fixing the broked Borg Spawn
2.) Fixing the spawn points and making them spawn-camp proof, which could easily be done by putting a faction zone of death on the opposing factions spawn areas, something like: "Warning, you are entering enemy controlled space, turn back or you will be destroyed in <Countdown>"
Its a very effective means to eliminate spawn camping.

I was in Kerrat during this exchange and the "religion" comment was not offensive in the least. Saying "Oh my God" is more offensive than what was said.

Yes, delete Kerrat....if you want Klingons to be bored to death. I can tell you that there will be many unsubs if this happens.

Interesting. So you'd say a fundamental element of the Klingon faction's health, for you, is fighting the Federation players?

I enjoy Kerrat, is my only PvP pleasure, if its quiet then I work on the objectives if the Klinks are active then its just pure fun. I see occasional camping from both factions but its a great "drop in and play" map and without it I doubt I would pvp at all, I just cant be bothered with the queue system.

Well when they advertise a faction as PvP centered, what do you think?

Nuking Kerrat isant a bad idea, but if done please replace it with something else.

I really really hate bothering with a que system in order to fight other players so much to the point that I don't anymore. With Kerrat I can just jump in and blast away Klingon/Federation players all I want.

The problems with Kerrat is that it is that the pve portion of the game is full of bugs that still have no been fixed and the ridiculous spawn camping that is allowed to go on there. As a few here have suggested keep the concept but drop kerrat for good.

    To the OP:
Smack talk is a part of competitive play, there is always going to be players who take it way to far. Its just a fact and you have tools at your disposal to ignore or report it if you find it offensive.

If nuked replace it with something else that is not full of bugs and spawn camping please.

Seem like most posters just want a few things here.

    Open Sector PvP like Ker'rat
    No Que
No bugged ships trapped inside something.

Honestly, I dont know why they dont just make a arena pvp map with some npcs of something other than...the borg.

I really look forward to a open sector pvp, and I do like Ker'rat for offering this, but I hate the bugs and the borg imo doesnt belong.

^ Indeed. Just get rid of the Borg NPCs and give players a safe spawn point and the only ones who wouldn't be happy are the goldfarmers who farm the zone.

Open PvP is fine, but when you mix PvE in with PvP, then you got a major recipe for disaster. If Cryptic got rid of Borg Hunt, make it a pure Open PvP zone with no missions, and seperate zone in points, then there won't be a problem at all.

If there is no other Klingons doing the scanning while you PvP, it just becomes an excuse to PvP, because what you are doing isn't going to stop the Federation from winning if there is no actual competition. And it's too easy to take advantage of the Borg.

    hey guys ..

please take thi the right way ... I'm not trying to start a flame war ... BUT ...

IMHO the one thing that WOW does a good job of is their PvP. There are several ways or types of PvP. There are some that are one on one .. 2v2 .. 5v5 ... and 50 man raids.

THERE are ways of raiding capitol cities in PvP as well.

There are some things that we can learn ... and grow.

It's a PvPvE zone (no, really, this is what Cryptic called them once) - Klingons attacking you while others run the mission is the point (and vice-versa).

Also, if someone gives you grief about religion /ignore them or just switch instances.

I concur. Switching it to TW makes a lot more sense. Moreover making several spawn points and placing them on opposite sides of the map for each team would go a long way to solving the issues.

Indeed. And I mean this is how FPS games solve the camping problem (well mostly solve it at least xD. That and maybe a 5 second spawn protect so you can warp the heck outta there or full impulse out).
