    I'm...

I apologize. I can't think of a single constructive thing to say. And I don't feel comfortable speaking my mind on it because you haven't done anything worthy of that kind of hatred.

It looks like something you slapped together in MS Paint out of parts that Cryptic designed. Not a worthy entry in my opinion.

In my opinion the ship would look better without aerodynamical stabilizers on warp gondles. A couple of heavy coaxial gun mounts on the soucer section would not harm as well.

    the front profile looks cool

    the side profile looks horrible

    the up profile looks.... odd

i'd say remove the necelles on the side, lower the thingy on top of the saucer, then you might be on to something... but then somehow it looks like the NX-01

as a random ship in STO? sure why not?

as the 1701-F? mmmhhh no thx

I think it's a creative entry, but I also think it's a little too much. They're still going for a 2 nacelled ship I think. I'm going to search for the entry that I think is the absolute right aproach (also believe it's already a Sto fan favorite). I'll edit this post afterwards

    EDIT:

    Chris Madden's entry:

As awesome as that one is, I think it may be too close to the latest treks design, which CBS doesn't have the rights too.

I also think that it may be a step in the wrong direction, atleast for the Enterprise, but would be awesome if they added it in as a later tiered ship

I was actually hoping for something in that direction:) I still think it's well balanced and doesn't resemble it too much. The sleek nacelles makes us think about the enterprise J wich is a good thing IMO cause that's where we'll end up fighting the Guardians of the Spheres

Well the J also had no "neck" so going from the Sovereigns neckless design back to the Constitution is a step backward IMO.

The thing is, as cool and retro as it is, I don't think it is the way they wanted to go...

    Okeh...

First off, there is absolutely no chance you're going to win the contest, right? Taking a ship from SFC, changing a few details, and submitting it here as your own is both plagarism AND copyright infringement - you haven't made enough changes for the latter, and you've admitted to the former here in this thread.

    That being said...

    1) Ship does not fit any kind of design lineage between the Enterprise-E and the Enterprise-J...and that is what the contest is asking for: the next step along the path that leads from the Sovereign and the Ent-J.

    2) Number of nacelles does not equal power of the ship - the total power that the ship has is determined by the size and number of warp cores it has - the nacelles are not the cores. Your ship in that regard looks overweight - again, needs some rethink.

Anyway, that's just off the top of my head - not something I'd vote for, even if it had a chance of winning. That's my opinion - take it for what it's worth.

I have to agree about the design. It's great and it's very well drawn. Buuuuut, it's way to similar to the XI Enterprise . It's like the JJprise had a baby with the in game Excalibur class. I like it but I think what people like the most about it is that it's a very very well painted painting. I think that less of the votes are going to the presentation then the design.

Enterprise should be a ship of exploration. Not a ship of kicking the @#! of anything it comes across. Which is what this ship looks like it would do.

Keep in mind, it's a ship being designed when the Federation is at war with 6 different civilizations. The Enterprise is designed to be the flagship of Starfleet.

Quote from memory alpha "Enterprise-J "as a multi-generational vessel, that had large parks, entertainment zones, and entire universities on board. The ship is so large that turbolifts would be replaced with site to site transporters. [It] had one deflector, recognizably descended from the NX. I opted for spindly nacelle struts because I felt it suggested a technology beyond what we were familiar with. They are beyond transwarp. They can fold space, and they are exploring other galaxies besides the Milky Way."

Assume that in the Enterprise J time, our galaxy must be at peace to allow us to design a ship of this calibar to explore other galaxies. With that being said, the Enterprise F should be a step in the current direction. A ship capable to lead a fleet into battle. It should not have any characteristics of older class ships no matter how nostalgic you feel it is. I would think along the lines a battle cruiser type soverign. Something built to fight. It is not an escort with quick spike damage, nor is it a support ship, but one that holds it's own and makes the enemy fear it getting closer.

Look at the Scimitar, it was massive compared to the Enterprise-E. How many Enterprise E's do you think it would take to fight that monster and win?

If I had to take a wild guess: Tourangeau will win again (his design here: http://www.startrekonline.com/enterprise/gallery?filter=search&keyword=Sean%20P%20Tourangeau). Yeah, people have gone "eww" at the hammerhead look, but I kinda like it. Sorta keeps in the theme, and has an interesting look to it at the same time. He designed the Luna, and that's become a semi-popular design, so I figure he's got a good shot at it.

I don't believe the Luna is semi popular because of it's aesthetic appeal. It is popular because the game mechanics the Dev's put in it are very good. An ugly ship could be given great game mechannics and be popular because it wins.

I think the ship is a bit too gaudy to be honest. Actually the design would be OK, except I don't like the double hulls/deflectors at all. A single, wider hull would be better.

Have you seen some of the other entries?

I think that it's the thought that counts anyway. Even if the submission is crude, at least if it gives a sense of what the individual is going for, that can then be refined into an actual ship.

I actually don't mind that one either, maybe a bit too out there for Starfleet designs though...
