Please tell me they fixed the enemy signal contacts.

Silly as it sounds that was a game breaker for me... annoying signal contacts too high or too low and uncompletable missions to kill them. Please tell me they fixed it and I'll reactivate my account and come back.

I can't say if they've changed anything with them or not, but honestly the game has changed so much and has become so much better that it is definitely worth coming back, even if you don't like the enemy signal contacts. The weekly episodes are reason enough if you ask me.

There is a space skill given to Federation Envoys that allow you to be ''immune'' to being targeted by Deep Space Encounters. So if you really don't want to do them either have someone apply that skill on you, or become an Envoy and apply it to yourself (i think you can do this. Am not 100% sure). Or simply hit exit when you get dragged into one ^^. To gain the diplomatic ranks simply do the diplomacy missions the Japanese guy gives (hes called Jiro) or do any non-combat missions: they give diplomatic xp too.

You should definitely come back and give it a try. Especially after this latest season, Season 3. If you like making maps and missions you can use that tool to do so, and if you're a Klingon then you'll be happy to know they got crafting (which has been revamped again) and special, repeatable missions in the PI canis sector. Lots and lots of other things have been added and changed. check out the engineering reports to see all the details.

Its called Diplomatic Immunity and it can only be given to other players, not to yourself.

However if anyone wants to avoid them the can simply fly all the way up and over them.

That's nice and all but it doesn't answer the question. (I have the same question.)

Are the Enemy Signal Contacts fixed so that they are level appropriate when encountered (rather than their previous (current?) behavior where they spawn at max level)? Yes / No

Unfortunately, I can't say for 100 % certainity, but I remember that there was an update note a few weeks or months back that adressed some of this. THought he think that I can distinctively remember now is the problem of Terran Empire enemy ships appearing instead the Hirogen encounters in one of the Romulan sector blocks. (From the outside, it were still Hirogen ,but once you entered the instance, you were fighting Terran Empire ships way beyond your levle.)

I'm at VA1, I've been completing the various DSE accolades. I've done all of them in Romulan space, completed 2 in Cardassian space and am halfway through the last one there.

Not once have I ever seen a spawn that was higher than the appropriate level. And that's doing 3 rounds per encounter and 70 encounters for each of the 5 sectors. I'm positive someone is going to chime in and say that just yesterday they were insta-killed by +40 enemies in a DSE, but my experience in doing over 1000 encounters has been they are level appropriate in the sectors I've been in.

I could be wrong, but I think they scale to the level of the player that spawns the map. I have only once (since I started playing again) found myself hopelessly outclassed in a DSE; and there was an Admiral rank player in there already. Changing instances put me back in my own weight class, so I'm pretty sure it was just because of the T5 that beat me to it.

As a VA you cannot find DSE stronger than you because the DSE usually adjusts the level based on the person who firsts enters it. If you are the first one who enters it then the DSEs will be around your level. This is what the OP is complaining about. If you go into a DSE and they are level appropriate for you, then he enters they'll be too strong for him.

This is the "bug" that they are talking about.

There has always been a fix: switch instance. If you're in one that was spawned by a higher level (and thus the ships in it are of a much higher level than yours) then simply switch instance.

But cryptic has already said they are going to revamp them in the near future. So they will be changed eventually.

No. They're not fixed. If a VA1 pops into a zone and starts killing stuff, it'll spawn VA1-level mobs.
