Guramba tweaks I would love to see

So I played with this ship last night... and OMG

If you haven't played it yet, then you REALLY SHOULD. Spec for beams, and disruptors, and raptors... you can still use cannons, just be sure to put points in beams to maximize your Javelin. Treat the attack as if it were scatter volley with DHCs... narrow firing arc, but DEVISTATING.

So as I said, I was playing with this ship last night, and I have to say that I LOVED it. If I might make a few humble suggestions that I would love to see.

1. Seige Mode Transformation animation: I do like the concept of a transformation... but honestly it's TOO much for me. The ship spins and twirls... it seems odd and out of place that a GIANT STARSHIP would suddenly do an acrobatic somersault. Might I suggest instead that the arms of the ship just swing forward slowly with a pronounced mechanical squeal and movement sounds. Something like a mechanized 'humm' and a slight metallic 'squeal' as the arms swing forward, then a heavy 'boom' as they lock into place. Seems more in tune with the theme of a giant starship in Startrek, rather than a 'squiddie' in the Matrix.

2. Javelin Type Change: So another thing that I noticed was the AMAZING way the Javelin operates and I LOVE the damage and sheer power of it. There really isn't anything I would change other than it's type. It's a Disruptor, and frankly I dont' much care for disruptors. I only ever use them till I can get plasma or antiproton or Tetryon... Disruptors just don't suit me. So I was thinking, inserting a 'console slot' on the Guramba similar to the pets slot on the Carrier. You can equip a console that just simply changes the Javelin beam type. Plasma, Phaser, Polaron... whatever the player may want. They would come only in a basic variety, and the ONLY advantage is visual, and the damage type/proc the Javelin would employ.

If it's always a Disruptor, it will be EASY for enemies to bulk up on their Disruptor resistance, thus making it far less useful.

That's it really, I think that this would make the Guramba a far more pleasing ship for us hard working Raptor captains! It's it plausable?

Good points, and I agree. Also, it's a Nausicaan ship, so changing the weapon type to plasma is even backed up by canon. ;)

Shouldn't this post actually be in the Tribble Forum thread that has already been set up for this topic?

No pics, I still haven't mastered the 'screen cap' yet. To many options and honestly if I am in the middle of fighting tons of borg, AND trying to screen cap a specific moment (Firing off the Javelin) then I have an awful lot of trouble with that. LOL

LOL, Yeah well... I was angry when I drew it, so that makes sense.

Thanks Valias, I can always count on you to make pleasant comments having to do with the topic at hand.

Ummm...wow, if you actually liked the Javelin, perhaps we need to train up one of your BOF's in BO3, since it does the same thing with much less cooldown.

No, it really isn't, it is a really horrible flying coffin.

Annnnnd... we just totally found the malcontent, and it wasn't even HARD! WOO! :D

Well, yes... actually the damage is similar to BO2, except it rails through multiple enemies in a cone. So yeah, there is that. Are you sure you speced for it? Did you actually test it out... cuz it sounds like you were flying an entirely different ship than I was. I didn't even have a Tac captain, but a Sci, and I had no trouble keeping my little trooper alive against waves of borg. So umm... you really should respec and try again.

Oh, and btw... You should play it for more than 10 minutes to really get the FULL experience. I mean, before you jump on the forums and randomly slander something. Just my opinion. :D
