Referring a friend

I'm sure most of you have had this situation and seen this similar post before. But I am really put off by this experience.

I decided about two months ago to take the plunge and try STO. Thought wow, I bet my partner would like this. So, sent the code to refer them and then 'so I'm told', they just clicked the link to the website of Star Trek online, not realising that they had to enter the code.

The game was then purchased off Steam and they eventually became a subscriber. I thought at the time that the code had been used, until I realised that it wasn't via my account.

I ended up contacting support to ask if there was anything they could do so we wouldnt miss out on the deal. They said no, they couldnt as the key had to be activated. Having now given them two lifetime memberships out of it, I asked if anything could be done now they had £393 or so up front, to be told no yet again. Not a major thing to ask for, but siince I had given them the business - thought why not ask anyway.

So to be honest, I feel a bit cheated. I did my part of the deal, got my partner/friend (doesnt matter) to be a member and then paid for lifetime membership's for the two accounts. My trouble is, I dont know anyone else who wants to play STO and I have already used facebook and twitter to get people to join..but to no avail.

Surely they could have done something? If not, I feel that something should be done about it so people dont lose out for no fault of their own.

I know its not much extra content, but it is the principle of the matter that ticks me off. If I can activate my lifetime membership via C store, why cant they include that content just as easy as a gesture of good will?

Sure, we dont have to worry about future subscription costs and you get a nice comm badge ingame. But I feel I have just had the mick taken out of me and for what? To obtain access to the captains table which is a bar I have never seen anyone in and that's it...as for server drop outs and bugs with my bridge characters not being able to change costumes; even when I save and try again, only to be given a general reply when I report it - your bug is being tracked blah blah - I'm still waiting for it to be fixed!!!! I also paid about £50 in C-store stuff too! Feel like I have more money than bl**dy sense!

I would have thought at least a bit more content than that! So Developers - take note - I am not a happy bunny for paying so much for something currently I am getting so little, especially when I could have just been a monthly subscriber for both accounts!

So after my great long moan, my questions are simply:
Has anyone else had the same issue?
Is anything being done to improve this?
If not, why not?
Can any developer help me in my case? Can't be too hard can it?

And why can't you do better promotions to get more people involved - taking in to account that mistakes (on who ever's part can be made) It seems you only get it once anyway ( I purchased the dreadnaught Crusier)

Also if you have a lifetime account - what is the point of the veteran rewards and why do you have to wait that time to unlock - surely thats about retaining you for subscriptions mainly? If you paid in full, why not have the lot when you upgrade?

I feel like I am having a right bash at STO but I am not.. We both love the game (wouldn't have paid otherwise!) sure it's got progress to be made. I am just not happy about the basics of it at the moment in respect of fairness. I just would like something done about it. Not for me, but for others who may have been in the same situation as well..
