I have been pondering and pondering the method of madness Cryptic has in regards to DSEs and Fleet Actions and in doing so I keep going back to their old game City of Heroes and wondering why they didn't use the Auto-Exempt feature they created for Task Forces in that game here.
This could be used for DSEs.
Currently when playing a low level character you can often end up in a DSE with a bunch of Admirals running around destroying everything and not letting the lowbes have any fun. And when they leave the lowbes get stuck with respawns far too high level for them to handle.
Well, what if the highbes got Auto-Exempted to the maximum level for that DSE? They could still work on their accolades and would still have access to more skills and weapons than a lower level character, but would be toned down to the lower level in order to create an even balance.
This could be used for Fleet Actions.
Currently Fleet Actions are separated into level brackets based on rank. The problem with this is that after a certain level you end up entering Fleet Actions with absolutely no one else in them. And since Fleet Actions cannot be done solo you just end up with a mission you cannot complete unless you manually organize a group of your level to go do it.
Well, what if Fleet Actions had a maximum level and you were Auto-Exempted to that level if you were above it? Then everyone could be in the same Fleet Actions again, regardless of level and we could complete them without it being a big hassle to do so.
I really think that this old technology could be used to make this new game much more sociable as far as these areas are concerned. Don't you?
No one agrees? Everyone just wants to keep killing DSE enemies that have no chance and ignoring Fleet Actions that you can't do when you are at the appropriate level (Crystaline, DS9) to get a good group?
I agree I just don't think the Devs care about those things; in fact I remember reading somewhere where Dstahl said he wanted to scrap DSEs altogether.
I'm not sure if I'm following the concept of "Auto-Exempt". Are you saying that high-level people would be delevelled down to an appropriate level (so VAs entering Starbase 24 would be fighting as a Lieutenant? Just like the current sidekicking system (where you match the team leader's level?) That might work fine for DSEs, but for Fleet Actions, it wouldn't be fair to the lower level players. Even if you get delevelled, you're still ridiculously overpowered (many weapons, abilities, high-tier equipment, etc.) and make short work of any enemies there.

I think this was said in a previous thread, that the old episodes and fleet acion where written in a differnt code than the new episodes so there isn't a way as of yet to level match anything, but I remember that the fleet actions will be going to a auto-queue system either it be fleet or pug and I also remember them saying something about updateing the episodes that everyone loves, but like everything it takes time and I think its going to come around season 5-7maybe? Anyways hope that helps.
