may have already been mentioned, but can this be added for the future, a warp drive console along the same lines as the IMpulse drive. perhaps a standard, hyper and combat. doesn't really make sense these weren't available from the outset

Warp only takes place in Sector Space, where nothing really happens (definitely not combat). Flat speed already upgrades as a standard when you level. As such there isn't a point to different types of warp engines.
instead of warp drive, a warp core slot would be awesome, with different types offering slightly different bonuses to the 4 energy types on top of the class bonus. maybe a bonus for efficiency for 1 kind of core and a bonus for performance for another.
I don't think the game needs a new Console type for Warp. I simply think the current engines need bonuses to Warp Speed added to them - some of which we're seeing with the Borg engine and its boost to Warp 14.
The Picard Maneuver is hidden within the game files - the name is, anyway. It's just not active yet. It's probably going to be a VA 3 reward when the level cap gets raised.
Kind of curious how it would work in STO, a simultaneous speed boost towards a target with Torpedoes firing? I know how it should work, just curious about in game tho, how many attributes would affect it?
My guess is it would be a "lunge" maneuver with a temporary Defense boost to the ship (symbolizing being in 2 places at once and the attacker not knowing which one to target) ending with you firing at the end of the move.

Ah.. But the Warp Reactor also powers the ship! A Warp Reactor slot with different kinds of power bonus' (to Weapons, Shields, Engines, & Aux) would be quite a handy-dandy little item. Add in bonus' to power transfer rates, resistances to enemies power drain effects, bonus' to your own power draining abilities, and the benefits become obvious. Oh, don't get me wrong, i'm not saying every Warp Core should do all of the above, make them more like Deflectors, they each do two, with higher rarities doing three (Uncommon) or four (Rare) or even five (at Very Rare). Not to mention we can get a slew of Boff abilities across the board that deal with it:
Tacs get "Target Warp Core" for +% damage for the duration.
Engineers get "Give me all she's got" giving an across the board energy bonus over duration (less than a battery would do for each individual system).
Scientists get "Subspace Dampening Field" a minor power drain and slow effect to target over duration.
The mechanics wouldn't be groundbreaking, everybody already knows how to use the slots we have. Add the slot, put the items in the stores and in the crafting trees, and give everyone currently playing the default Warp Reactor for their level (T1 gets Standard Issue, T2, gets Mk II, T3 gets Mk IV, etc..).
Well it was a Defensive/Evasive Maneuver when Riker used it, maybe a very well rounded maneuver, if it is added I'm sure it will look good, keeping my fingers crossed lol
Edit Katic's post beat me by 1 minute lol, never the less it is a good post:o

You just stepped all over Engineering consoles, devaluing a serious bonus possessed by Cruisers.

I don't think so, when you consider Cruisers would use them as well, and the effects would stack..
Cruisers would retain their advantage, becoming even more effective at their primary role. And with the Boff abilities I imagined, that would be true of Tactical officers and Scientists too.

I'm a Tac myself and I fly science ships, isn't this kind of like targeting a subsystem which is limited to science vessels?
Tactical captains have useful abilities such as Tactical Initiative which increase their tactical officers combat ability cool-downs, which is why in hindsight I am a little more unsure of this idea's need. But i do like the other ideas.

ships power comes from the reactions in a matter/antimatter intermix chamber. in STMP phaasers were powered directly from the warp drive, and there's no reason to believe this has changed. fusion reactors alone, if still in use, can't possibly be enuff to supply enuff power to all ships systems

warp drive and core are generally the same thing. both incorporate a matter/antimatter intermix chamber

This. I have brought this up before, and think it would be simply awesome. Warp cores could come in different varieties, and even offer the ability to dump the core for various reasons, so long as you are carrying a spare. Give it a 24-hour cooldown (or something else that reinforces the fact that this shouldn't be used all the time). You could even have rare ones, like the forced quantum singularities that power Romulan vessels.
i have mentioned it several times, and i very much support warp core or warp engine assembly slots. i am all for it as long as they make sense.. i would love to see them represent visually on the interior. a quantum slipsream drive would sit in place of the normal warp core within engineering. perhaps certain other aspects of engineering also change..

I'm down with this. Make it happen I say great idea.
I like the idea of having a Warpcore Slot, in which we could equip different cores with different bonuses. Also, while we´re at it, i wouldl ike a "power grid" slot or something like that. There you could equip different types of EPS conduits...things or whatever that stuff is called, and the types are "specialized" and give bonuses to power transfer rate or system power levels.
Also....
computer cores would be cool. faster computer core = better accuracy for example.
long story short: more little customization options

Well, I figured it was implied that science ships would get the power as well, but, just like the current subsystem targeting, the shipboard version would be inferior to the upper echelons of the boff power.
Or, another interpretation would be a captain power, with replacing the lamest shipboard power ever, Abandon Ship.

Hate to break it to you, but the "Picard Maneuver" is already in game as the emote "Tug"...
Also, I believe Krenn is correct. They are synonyms for each other.
