Tier 7 Ships for Admirals and Fleet Admirals a temporary fix to the economy
After reading this:
Tier 6 ships VS Upgradable ships
I realize that players want to fly their old ships.
And after reading this:
How to fix the in game Economy/ high exchange prices dstahl
I realize that players have accumulated
millions of EC with nowhere to spend the money.
So I present a solution (perhaps a temporary one, but a solution nevertheless).
With the upcoming ranks of Admiral and Fleet Admiral, we are going to see Tier 7 ships.
If those Tier 7 ships can be
skin to look like any of the previous version of that type of ship (Tactical Akira or Science Polaris, for example) then Cryptic can bring an easy solution to what players want.
Now to fix the economy, make
Tier 7 ships worth $ 246,600,000 (yes that is millions).
As the high end players spend all their millions buying those ships they will not longer have any money to pay 10,000 for a mineral sample lol.

i also disagree with buying ships for energy credits alone anyway regardless of the price.
Adding a posting fee proportional to the asking price is the only viable option available the Devs at the moment for discouraging players from flooding the exchange with item priced for millions just to see if they sell.
As a question for all and sundry: Who buys a purple Packled tactical officer for 999,999,999 ec?
The way further Tier 5 ships have been release suggests a kind of "power plateau". I suspect that we will not be seeing anything more advanced in the way of space frames. In all likelyhood space advancement for any further tiers will come in the form of equipment and the semi-announced Crew System that's supposed to be in developement.
No, excuse my language but H*** No! I played this game for months and i don't spend much money at all, all my toons have a total amount of 5 million. and as they already said in this thread, its like adding fuel to the fire. The economy in this game is broken, Dstahl even said it, and what you are proposing will definetely NOT fix the probelm as sure as god made little green apples.
And Tier 7 Ships? even the tier class is broken as well as ranks. They are not sure about a tier 6..where do you get Tier 7 from?
And what rank will you get at tier 7 after Fleet Admiral? President? All mighty one? "HIM"?!!
Not every player has that kind of EC and folks are right....talk about making a game a shear grindfest!
I repeat bad plan.
We get everything we need either as rewards or loot. Then something happened....AEGIS.
I realized i would never have enough money to buy a set so i went to Memory Alpha and started crafting.
Because we have to craft 1650 heal/shield or power charges i bought a few 250-stacks of the regular materials, and broke i was...lol. Still had to farm the rest (another 800) to max out my crafting skills.
I have a feeling that with a nice load of anomalies and a couple rares it still won't be easy to craft Aegis.
We'll see.
STO lacks the social side of other MMOs, but to be fair, Star Trek is not Star Wars, we live/work mostly in space not on the ground (Star Wars Galaxies).
Ground life usually offers more opportunities for EC. Player houses maintenance fee, Shuttle travelling fee and so on. Finishing collections of any type either by farming or paying high prizes on the bazaar (SWG).
Well, in the 25th century earth has overcome money but we are not alone. There are races that still like money (Ferengis). Maybe they could offer some cool stuff for energy credits. Not the same looking stuff, not more powerful, just different. A Ferengi Marauder (Stats shared with a Cruiser of Cryptics choice) for 10.000.000 credits (money sink, lol) or gold pressed latinum. Would be cool to see a few guys in a Ferengi ship (hey look i am a millionair and probably a credit buyer, lol).
We should be able to exchange gold pressed latinum into EC so Dabo gambling could become more interesting. Flying a true "Exotic" ship not just a holographic version is something i would actually work on.
There is no return policy on items bought from the C-store, I know I asked lol
But why would you demand a return? Didnt you enjoy your T5 ship? I bought the NX T1 and have truly enjoyed it. But once I am Lt. C., I am not going to asked for my money back now that I need a T2 ship to stay competitive
T1 Lieutenant. (3 BOs.)
T2 Lt. C. (4 BOs.)
T3 Commander (4 BOs.)
T4 Captain (4 BOs.)
T5 Rear Admiral / Lower / Upper Half (5 BOs.)
T6 Vice Admiral (5 BOs)
T7 Admiral / Fleet Admiral. (5 BOs, But Maybe Possibly 6 BOs.?)
Something like that but aside from the T name, the point is that it is the ship you can get at Admiral / Fleet Admiral level.
Ok it is just an idea...
The value of the EC sink has to be determent by the Cryptic team.
But the math formula would dictate that T7 ships, if worth EC, would cost a little less than double the Rear Admiral ships or +/- 490,000 and maybe 1000 emblems.
That is nothing special and I am sure every Admiral has that and more.
But will this fix the two points stated?
I think it does
A.- Players who want to fly exotic ships can skin their T7 ship any way they like (within the Tactical / Cruiser / Science category).
B.- It takes money out of the economy and bring prices down. (If no one buys that 1000 EC item for a million are you going to sell it to the store for $ 500 EC or try to sell it for $ 550 in the exchange???)
But why will players stop buying items for a million???
Because they are all saving for the T7 Ship worth a Billion LMAO .
But sure, I myself do NOT want to grind forever to get an endgame ship
So maybe just make it worth 10 million. Or whatever the average EC amount held by admirals who have play for 300 days is. Or whatever seems fair... but high enough to make point B work.
Anyways in my head it makes sense But perhaps someone can intelligently break the idea apart and indicate a better solution
