Whilst looking through some of the enteries on the gallery i noticed several are complete fraucds copied form fan art published years ago and in 2 cases ships from StarTrek Legacy
my main case in point are enteries
587, the enterprize G as seen allover you tube for over a year
554, erm.. thats the B
662, thats the second version of the G (you tube search enterprize g)
698, here dubbed the eximus class, thats available with google too
now i could be wrong or they could have been submitted by the ppl who desighned them origionialy for the Legacy mods or other fan sites, but if this is not the case i really hope that Cryptic are doing there best to scren out the copycats, as some of the completly origional submissions are amazing
I sincerely hope, and fully believe, that Cryptic is doing their homework on this. There are in fact several designs by some very talented artists that I thought should be entered in this contest, but I'd never dream of sumbitting them as my own work. I've even gone so far as to contact some of these artists and directed them to the contest site.
At the end of the day, I'm sure that Cryptic will sort out the legits from the posers. My only concern would be that it may cost some other legitimate entries a spot in the top 25 before it gets handled.
Yes, there is a ton of copyrights infringments in the contest by overzelous fans or by people who enjoy spamming the contest with entries.
So far the obvious ones like the Fan-Excalibur and the Century are noticable fake entries, but other less-published designs need for our vigil in making threads like this, so Cryptic can eliminate those entries.
Some of them might not be fake since it is within the realm of possibility that the actual designer of the ship wants it in the game. Although, it might be hard to prove in some cases.
its not hard to prove its yours, if its yours you have all the sketches/original design itteration files ect. if its someone trying to plagerize material they just steal the end product and claim it as original, always show your work!

Unless it's the original creator submitting the design, it's a violation of the contest rules.
If a creator is ineligible and uses a proxy to enter the design in the contest and wins, they are committing fraud. In which CBS can take you to Federal court and if found guilty, it could mean at least $10,000 in fines and even the possibility of a few years in Federal Prison.
So better to submit your own works than someone elses.

Most notable fakes? You didn't see the screen capture of the Enterprise J complete with the StarTrek.com splash on the bottom corner? lol That fake is so notable it nearly qualifies for a Darwin award.

Like I said, there are fakes of people posting popular designs like the Century and fan-Excalibur, and there are those who are just spamming the entry process with junk in a meager attempt at humor.

yes some are pretty awfull, but the ones that are good are really good, atleast 3 ide kill to fly around in
He can't enter because he's Canadian. And even if he could enter, him having the design out already would violate the contest rules.
