I hope you contacted the GMs regarding Individual X, because those types are almost always con artists that try to swindle kids out of money or confidential information like Social Security Numbers.

lol you know what this sounds like to me? it sounds like you are warning people not to bull$hit you.

Play the game for the game , and the people that matter , this individual obviously shouldn't.

Woah... Think that set the world record for biggest grain of salt ever found.

I mean you are supposed to take everything online with a grain of salt but seriously... More plotholes than a episode of Voyager.

Experienced something similar back in SWG way way waaaaay back.
But on a male character and a female friend trying to marry her way into my house... (I was alre... ok never mind that)
It all ended in a uncomfortable downward spiral where she got her guild to boycott me and my house(which also acted as a store for armor and whatnot). I did get a chance to reenact Rapunsel standing on a balcony and looking at the people below circling the house.

But to make it short... I was married(on and off. ahem) with a friend. He was male and me was a girl but we both had male chars. :pMet over a painting of Sy Snootles in a bikini.
After she found out that it was the usual prosecution etc etc etc... With haters circling our home/store.
Aaaaanyways... She tried to get close to me to get to my riches(hubby was an armorsmith and I become filthy rich thanks to RIS).

And hell hath no fury like a woman having her hubby harassed for the wrong reasons.(aka only I'm allowed to do that)

I mean by all means that... "woman" was probably a dude doing(all offense intended) the usual scheme of trying to be sexy and scam his way across the galaxy.
I don't trust Orion females in this game after they got their bikinis...

Oh I miss my hubby. We both quit SWG after NGE but still have contact after all these years. :)
I should hit him up on msn with this lovely thread and quite possibly share a laugh.

You are playing an MMPORG with quests, farming, commodity speculation, twitch combat, crafting and group activities like guilds, guild quests, guild interaction and friendships. Some people accomplish other activities in the game ; stalkers, sexual predators, thieves, gold sellars and conartists. There is yet another subset of activities that relate to people filling personal emotional needs online; drama queens, narcissists, ego damaged kids begging for any attention at all, antisocial loners and lonely spouses.

That being said, it is obvious this persons behavior fits into the unusual small percentage of game players. That raises red flags; believe me, when something wonderful is about to happen, it doesn't creep you out and make your stomach hurt trying to figure it out.

I appreciate the comments shared and the experiences shared by others in a similar vein that have been made.

And yes, I fully agree that from all experiences I have had, one does not have red flags rise with such persistence and deep feeling unless something is wrong.

note to self; make all my toons lesbians, even the male ones.
    /dirty old man

For some reason with that story i'm picturing the comic book guy playing STO. Those are some notable inconsistencies. As for what to do next, i tend to just ignore people like that unless they contact me, at which point i try to keep them at a respectable, yet friendly, distance. In the end it's just a personality in a game, nothing too big to worry about in the grand scheme of things.

thrust is nothing one should give out trough the internet. I been playing MMOs for a good long time and this is far from the first story like this I have read about.

Some advice, ingore this person nothing is going o change this or get you answers and two when alarm bells start to ring in your head listen to them they are all to often right and rarely they are wrong so better to listen to them to be save.

I would just assume they are male players that like girls in bikinis, even if they are pixely.
    Guys like me. :p

They might even be nice people. But most likely never nice, attractive bisexual polyamorous young women.

wow, only a matter of time befor this $#1t made its way to the game i suppose. but yeh it's already been said but did you mention it to a GM? cos at best it's a dirty old man playin out a fantisy. or a very forgetful married TRIBBLE with a husband who could almost have gone to the same primary school as his daughter, but that seems a bit unlikely to me (but hay thats just me).

Hi my name is Cleve.....Im a Klingon and a Capricorn. I enjoy long walks by the beach and cuddling under the moonlight. I like canoeing and long hikes in the woods. My turn ons are guys who live in vans down by the river and know how to tie a good sheep bend out of zip ties.......

I think the question you should have asked when it got to the point of discomfort is...

"Why are we having this conversation?" and then hit iggy.

My pops used to say, believe none of what you hear, and half of what you see. I think that applies here.

Skeptics abound, I'm floored at why you continued contact with this individual as long as you did. You are obviously a intelligent individual with a genuine personality...only...curiosity killed the Caitian in this case.

And why do you at this point give such an individual (who's obviously out to lunch) such creedence by posting the encounter here?

With so many different souls under the cover of anonymity it is often difficult to second guess ones motive for doing the silly @!%*# that they do.

Just play the game forward as your primary goal, and the weird ones are secondary considerations. Or just report them for being a lil too open. Honestly if someone was being that candid from the get go, I would have been rather blunt to ask "Why are we having this conversation?"

Interesting story though..........but not the strangest thing i ever heard of. It is obvious to me though that this person was fishing for something...what i have no idea.

"Why are we having this conversation?"

That's a great question. Out of the very small circle of friends, 3-4 of us who were involved in this ongoing sideshow , only I seemed to recognize it as a potential issue. I discussed it with one close friend and her reply was that, though she also felt it was odd at the start, she didn't want the girl to feel unwelcome just because she was a bit more open then most. I began to distance myself almost immediately and made my overall discomfort known, commenting something was not right. In the end I was trying to be polite until it was simply impossible to ignore anymore contradictions which seemed to exist with nearly every new sentence. Only the most obvious are listed here in this post, many more exist.

My initial first reaction and question to her, Why do you feel comfortable showing (her fleet - which she has since left) and me and my friends whom (at least in my case) you've known less then two days, your buisness? Was very much meant to be read like the question you suggest should have been asked.

As for having been fishing for something? Perhaps. I was encouraged several times to visit the site that was put up until I openly remarked I had no intention of going to it. Personally I didn't trust it was safe.
Maybe she was looking for attention, it may have worked, I have learned she is now "In game" dating possibly the most recognized name in ESD zone chat and ESD.

No it never did occur to me that going to a GM was something I should do. Though I clearly felt that "something" was wrong. I knew I was not going to risk being played by someone, or take a chance at visiting a third person webpage with the suggestion that TRIBBLE and a chance to share my personal photos were the reasons I should make the visit.

The individual is very computer savvy - and can recount video cards and computer parts as though they are reading a technical manual. It was this excellent ability to recall information, computer, Star Trek, 80's movies, tv shows, science fiction novels and general trivia etc, that further made their inability to recall the name of the magazine they were in so much more difficult to swallow (Not that it required help) and suggested a life experience level far greater then 26 years.

So given the feelings I was getting from the person I wasn't about to chance it. I didn't consider it would be a problem/danger for others that might require GM attention. And though I was encouraged to visit the site, I never felt anything more then an attempt to persuade me to do so.

I think it should be mentioned one of the claims this person very recently has made is, that they acted in the capacity of a volunteer GM, though I do not recall which game they said that was with. I think it may have been City Of Heroes.

Speaking from personal experience, being weird is not a bad thing by itself.:)

But jokes aside this is an unbelievable story.
Thanks for sharing it with us in such a considerate way.
It clearly shows there are several levels of weird...or conning people into something.
I must say that I'm asolutely clueless which this is but I'd make this thread madatory reading
for everyone around this forum in either case.
It clearly shows how careful you need to be on the 'net.

For instance I have this friend who's an Ethiopian prince with money troubles looking for a good bank.............

First off I do not chat ingame, so it would never happen to me. I have learned from the past that I keep my homosexuality at home. Nobody in the game need know that I have been married to my husband for 25 years since the age of 17, or that we have adopted a younger TRIBBLE man, or even that we were both adopted by an older TRIBBLE man, to make a 3 generation all TRIBBLE family. Or that I have done over 20 years a TRIBBLE rights activism. It is enough that I can not be private about my Tourettes, and EVERYBODY figures out instantly that I have Tourettes.

Those types of personal tidbits distract from the game and invite situations such as you experienced. Perhaps the experience never would have happend if you had not been so frank in your bio. I am a person who happens to be TRIBBLE, not a TRIBBLE who happens to be a person, and not everything I do is because I am TRIBBLE. My Trek is not TRIBBLE. When did Trek ever have a positive TRIBBLE role model? And that is OK with me, there is more to the world than my TRIBBLE.

So I am curious, how many others have had a similar in game experience?
Being the surly and ill-tempered person that I am, no.
Was I wrong to confront the person regarding inconsistencies and oddities in what I was being told?
Absolutely not. The individual, a stranger to you, was being dishonest. You have no knowledge of the motivation for this behavior, therefore you cannot dismiss the possibility of malicious intent. Prudence dictated that you either confront, ignore, or engage in counter-subterfuge.
And since this person now is part of the core of friends I have made in game and there is tension, what would you do next?
This thread was a good idea. Contacting staff with a link to this thread would be wise.

You know your friends better than I do. I would suggest contacting them privately with your experience. For the sake of your friends safety/security, find that middle ground between hysterical accusation and ambivalence.

Your account here appears lucid and not reactionary. Good luck. Be well. :)
