Cargo Bays and the Captain's Trunk

This is my idea for increasing storage potential and saving space for loot in your main inventory.

Cargo Bays

Cargo Bays would vary in number from ship to ship, dependent on the size and rank of the ship. Each Cargo Bay would have 15 slots in which to store items. Cargo Bays would allow storage of only Anomalies, Commodities and Consumables like Food, Drink, Hyposprays, etc. (plus Tribbles). Lastly, Cargo Bays are only accessible while you are on board your ship.

Number of Cargo Bays per Ship:

Light Cruiser/Frigate/Bird of Prey (Scout) - 1

Escort / Scout (QulDun BoP) / Raptor (Somraw Raptor) - 1
Cruiser / Battle Cruiser (K'Tanco) - 3
Science Vessel - 2

Heavy Escort / Heavy Scout (Norgh) / Heavy Escort (Qorgh Raptor) - 2
Heavy Cruiser / Heavy Battle Cruiser(K'Tinga BoP) - 4
Research Vessel - 3

Tactical Escort / Long Range Scout (Kl'Tang) / Tactical Escort (Pach Raptor) - 3
Exploration Cruiser / Tactical Battle Cruiser (Vor'cha) - 5
Long Range Vessel - 4

Advanced Escort / Advanced Scout (Hegh'Ta BoP) / Advanced Escort (Birok Raptor) - 4
Assault Cruiser / Assault Battle Cruiser (Negh'Var) - 6
Recon Vessel - 5

Fleet Escort - 4
Star Cruiser - 6
Deep Space Vessel - 5

Dreadnought Cruiser - 7

Carrier - 8

Retrofits would have the number of slots for the ship type and rank they originate at (ie. the Nebula Retrofit would have 3 Cargo Bays, since it originates at the Commander rank and is a Research Vessel).

Captain's Trunk

The Captain's Trunk would hold collectibles and memorabilia that the captain has gathered over his career. Gamewise, the Captain's Trunk would store only non-combat devices (Fireworks) and pets (Sehlat Cub, Shuttle, but NOT Tribbles) and would allow use of them just as if they were in your inventory, but without taking up valuable inventory space. The Captain's Trunk would have 10 slots in which to store such items.

With so much stuff to collect and store and craft we simply need more storage space and we need it soon. It seems that STO could add something for this while at the same time remaining very Trek.

What do you think?

I like this idea, but I don't think the Captain's Chest should have an item limit if it is somewhere to store momentos of your travels, etc. Not too sure how they would get that to work though. I would need space for a few weapons, a torch, a fire extinguisher, and a couple of other things like the devidian/breen series' rewards.

Edit: I also think being able to store tribbles in your science lab on your ship would be cool
