I think this type of particle should be added to the Rare Particle Traces we currently have and be sort of a Substitute for ones when crafting.

Omega Directive ;P

No. The Omega Particle is teh UBER 1337 particle of the Trek Universe. Maybe for a one-time mission, but not as part of crafting.

Doesn't make sense. We'd have to destroy it on detection.

i just played a foundry mission with the omega particle. :)

but no it should not be added. this is the nuclear bomb of star trek. it should not be used as an item any one can get or for making a phaser rifle out of it.

Already used that in my own mission, and gonna use it again on the Klingon half of the same mission :p (when I get round to making it)

I'd love to see Cryptic do an omega particle mission, but as a simple crafting mat? heck no.

It would be a neat idea, but because of the nature of it...it'd be quite impossible.

    I kinda like this idea.

I hope that eventually they will get into that storyline in the vice admiral mission arcs. Iconicns either playing with the omega particle or using ships powered by the omega particle would be pretty cool. :)

Its a good idea for a foundry mission, thats why I used it lol, plus I was making a story on the fly and came to the point where I needed something to fit the rest of the mission and remembered a cool glowy thingy from Voyager and Starfleets inablity to stop touching things they knew they shouldn't do.

Thank you for checking out my mission. When it is recreated on holo, there will be some tweaks based on feedback received (which is much appreciated). I have some ideas about continuing this story arc for another mission or two... as has been mentioned in this thread, the Omega Particle and Directive are interesting canon subjects to be mined.

And yes, I agree... the Omega Particle should not be reduced to a crafting mat. The last time the Borg played around with one, 600,000 drones died.

Yeah the fact that in recorded ST, noone has successfully harnessed and contained an Omega Particle, let alone enough to be REALLY dangerous. The only race I can say off hand that might have a chance would be the Q, with maybe the Iconians behind them. I don't even know though if they have the prowess to control the power of the Omega particle.

Wait - wasn't an Omega Particle responsible for the destruction of a scientific colony in Voyager?

Wasn't 7 of 9 one of the few to see?

Didn't they kill it with fire?
