Let's brainstorm consumables

Normally, I hate consumables, because I like to have something I can rely on every time. But for an MMO, they seem to make a lot of sense, since it encourages repetition and provides a constant goal.

The new Alhena mission where you can get the hydrogen fuel made me think we need more of them. It is important to keep them in a happy region of useful but not overpowered (and thus quickly a must).

So, after I present a few of my ideas, I hope you can bring in your own ideas. Maybe something useful sticks. :)

Craftable Consumables

Aegis Deflector Field Modulator
In one of the first federation encounters with the Borg (shortly before the tragedy of Wolf 359), Federation Engineers and Scientists aboard the USS Enterprise developed a way to modulate the deflector array for a powerful high frequency emission in hope of overcoming a Borg shield. Their plan failed, as the Borg had adapted to the tech. But the technology itself was still workable. The Aegis Deflector Field Modulator can replicate the effect in a more reliable way. It is still experimental and the device burns out after a few uses.
Single Target damage effect with repel. Comparable to Beam Overload in damage (using a single beam bank, replacing shield power with weapon power) and Tractor Beam Repulsors. The damage and repel are distributed over 5 seconds. Effective Rank I from levels 1-20, rank II from 21-40, and rank 3 from 41 and up. Applies a -50 penalty to your own shield power and disables your shields for 5 seconds (while the effect lasts.)
Cooldown: 5 minutes. System Cooldown Deflector Field.
Charges: 3 per Device.

Disruptor Weapon Pod
This pod can provide additional firepower to any KDF vessel, containing a special disruptor designed to drain shield power from the enemy target, to allow boarding parties to beam aboard hostile ships or stations during battle.
It provides the effects of a Beam Overload with a small shield energy drain. (Level 1-20: Rank I -20 power; Level 21-40: Rank II, -30 power; Level 41+: Rank III, -40 power.)
Cooldown: 5 minutes. System Cooldown: Beams
Charges: 3 per Device.
Optional: If equipped, this could add weapon pods like occasionally seen on the Neg'Var models in TNG and DS9.

Fleet Action Gear
This gear could serve as a item reward for completing fleet actions. This can serve as a motivation to repeat flee actions, granting thematically appropriate rewards.

Romulan and Reman Fleet Actions
Salvaged Cloaking Device
This salvaged cloaking device can cloak any ship for a short amount of time. The device burns out after repeated use.
Like Cloak, but only for 30 seconds and with a Stealth Rating similar to that of MES II.
Cooldown: 5 minutes. System Cooldown: None
Charges: 3 per Device.

Psychic Stabilizer
This hypospray contains nano probes that heighten the users mental clarity and augments mental powers.
Provides the character with hold and stun resistance, grants +20 % accuracy and 50 % resistance to psychic damage
Cooldown: 3 minutes.
Charges: 5 per device

Undine Fleet Action
Biomechanical Fluids
This package of biomechanical fluids contains organisms that can repair a ships hull.
Similar to Hazard Emitters.I (Rank I at Level 1-20; Rank II at Level 21-40; Rank III at Level 41+).
Cooldown: 5 minutes.
Charges: 3 per device. System Cooldown: None

Bioplasmic Armor
This capsule contains a small dose of bioplasmic organism that can form an armor shell around you.
Grants damage resistance.
Cooldown: 5 minutes.
Charges: 3 per device.

Crystalline Action
Crystalline Shards
You release a field of crystalline shards behind you. Enemy ships entering the field of shards take hull damage.
Like Eject Warp Plasma. (Rank I at Level 1-20; Rank II at level 21-40; Rank III at Level 40+)
Cooldown: 5 minutes. System Cooldown: None
Charges: 3 per device.

Crystal Splinter
You use small splinters of a crystalline shard as a melee weapon. The shards will eventually break.
You gain a bonus to melee damage for 30 seconds.
Cooldown: 5 minutes.
Charges: 3 per device.

It would take them a year to program all this stuff , 2 years to work out the bugs , and then an additional year to nerf them because the pvp people scream about them. In the end you will have a hold full of useless nerfed consumables to go along with your proton rifle, which i think they should allow you to make into a trophy, the weapon held in the hands of a crying pvp player.

So you are saying it's time for them to start already?

Yes PVP is the Ruination of this game...I don't want to help any Klingons die with honor.

    Wow. "The Ruination"?
I played the PvE content, & it was fun. I was the best Fed Cruiser Captain the galaxy had ever seen .Then I tried PvP, & got annihilated. Repeatedly. So, then I wanted to play that good, & started PvPing almost exclusively. It's like new content every Battle.Different opponents, with different ships, different skill levels, & different ideas about how to win, in every game.
So, I now think the PvE is lame. So I don't do it. You don't have to PvP. so don't
Sorry if I'm ranting, for some reason i got irritated reading your post. Nothing personnel.

    Hi
So you are saying it's time for them to start already?
    Yes, I think he was.

    fixed it for you.
These are the only ones I ever see whining about nerfs. Usually something that is not broken or unbalanced but if used effectively by an experienced player, can seem OP to them.
Please don't lump us all together as its insulting to sum.
Please give it time to quiet down some. The pvp community is more than willing to help those struggling players new to pvp along and squash all the preconcieved fears associated with pvp.

I am not sure why we have to discuss all this PvP vs PvE superiority/inferiority/ruiningmygame nonsense everytime. Can we not just talk about ideas for consumables here and leave the other discussion someplace and sometime else? (Maybe when we're burning in hell?)

    Thanks.
