Gorn Customisation?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Is there any word when the new Gorn customisation is going to be release?

Will there be lady Gorn?

Would we be able to tell them apart from the males? Since.. they're reptiles and all? :3

Maybe they'll get pretty frills and spines and stuff. ^.^

Last I heard it would be in one of the earliest updates after the release of Season Three. But then that was said when Season Three first debuted on Tribble. Haven't heard a peep since.

I suppose they'll hit tribble first... I wonder if they'll actually open and close their mouths, now. (NPCs talking, Bite attack animation)

I have to say i was eagerly awaiting this with season 3 but what with the silence i'm somewhat disappointed. Because of it's separate release, i fear it will be on the C-Store. I hope it is'nt released on there, considering the inherently weak Gorn customisation options available from launch.

Nope, male and female Gorn are indistinguishable so having two genders for them is a moot point. However in character customization there shouldn't just be a "male" option. It should be something more appropriately double-gendered.

I could of swore I read somewhere that Female Gorn are much larger then male Gorn....That would definitely be a distinguishable quality.

Probably the female Gorn will have the same design flaw as the TRandoshan female on Star Wars... TRIBBLE!

They are reptiles... reptiles don't need TRIBBLE... get this right DEV's... since SWG Dev's never did!

At some point during their childhood, Gorn choose their gender and then grow the necessary "plumbing", that's why the two genders look so similar.

That's one of the reasons I'd hate to see cryptic explore things like female Nausicaans and Gorn. I have no idea what light canon or Star Trek literature has shed on Gorn genders (if any). However, if Gorn females were to ever be explored - provided they haven't already - I'd hate to see them follow the same pattern of having TRIBBLE and hourglass figures as other races do. As you said, Star Wars applies that same trend to clearly non-mammalian races like Trandoshans and Ithorians, and it just looks stupid.

For female Gorn, I agree. The differences that I would see as likely (size etc.) can already be achieved by the existing character customization sliders.

Nausicaan females, on the other hand? Ah, why not. As long as they don't end up looking ridiculously "beautified" compared to the males (example: female Trolls in WoW). Considering the look of male Nausicaans, I can easily imagine something like the female Predators. :D

Luckily not. I've never seen an Ithorian with TRIBBLE (example female), and that for Trandoshans it was at one time possible in SWG was just a torso slider bug during beta which was fixed before release. Wookiees don't have TRIBBLE either. Which is perfectly fine.

The sliders still can't make a Gorn that is significantly taller than a human, like the first Gorn seen in "The Arena".

And no matter how muscular/bulky you make the arms and legs, they still seem woefully spindly in comparison to the torso and the TOS Gorn. I'm hoping that's addressed in the customisation...

The release date of which I still want to know! :p

    Now that you mention it!

I was totally disappointed I was unable to replicated the NPC Gorn stature for Valias' First Mate. :(

Yah! Nausicaans, too! Neither Nausicaan or Gorn customisation allows us to make player characters the size of the NPCs!

You're making your humans a lot taller than 6'3" or so if that's the case. (And long legs plus an overall height of 6'3" is actually taller than 6'3"; the overall height slider doesn't account for individual settings.)

Generally, if you're taller than the NPCs you encounter as a human, you're pretty freakishly tall. For some reason, a lot of people tend to max these settings out and a lot of STO humans would be taller than NBA stars.

I don't have any human toons. However, the Gorn seem to be limited to Human proportions, and that is to what I was referring.

My Gorn is no where near as tall as the Gorn NPCs on Qo'nos. My Nausicann is no where near as tall as some of the Nausicaan NPCs, and also seems to be restricted to human proportions. (Most of the Nausicaans in ST are much taller than the humans, like many of the Nausicaan NPCs.) This isn't even mentioning that the STO Nausicaans look like very poor imitations of the canon Nausicaans. (Pics: -1- -2- -3- -4- -5- -6- -7- -8-)

Humans max out at 6'4" before slider adjustments, Gorn max out at 6'6". Without accounting for added torso or leg length.

However, the Gorn default is 6'4" whereas the human default is 6'1". In general, for me, I'd almost never scale humans UP from the default unless I was going for an unusually tall character like Riker.

If you scale up torso, feet, legs and height, you wind up with 7'4" human. Do the same for Gorn and you wind up with 7'6" or so. The issue is less that Gorn are too short and more that humans are too tall.

They gave the Saurian females TRIBBLE, so they will probably give 'em to the Gorn as well... I have an Saurian BO and I've made her bosom as small as possible, gave her a black shapless top, and you can still clearly see them. I don't mean to get too vulgar, but I wish if I moved the slider to zero that we could actually get a (near, at least) flat chest, if only so we could effectively "erase" the trait on lizard and/or non-mammal aliens.

    Disappointing.

For my Klingon's Gorn BO, the issue is that I was trying to replicate the "muscular giant" look of the NPCs - that is, thick arms, relatively short torso, relatively short legs, then scale up. Unfortunately, this doesn't work - your Gorn will end up smaller than Humans or Klingons. You have to increase torso and leg settings to balance this, which in turn causes the Gorn to loose his "bulky" look and turns him into a green beanstalk again. :/

Exactly right. Scaling up your gorn's torso, arms and legs makes them look gangly and very un-gorn-like. Something that looks as if it will be addressed with the upcoming customisation upgrade.

I just hope they allow the height slider to give them the height of the NPC Gorn.

I've actually deleted my Gorn character until the customisation comes out. Now I just have to look at my too-short Gorn BOs. :p

I totally agree that we need many options. I really wanted my Gorn to look much larger. He is suppose to be a brawler, perhaps more like the Roqua Gorn NPC. However he looks so small.

The other big problem for me is that he has to wear his "Klingon Slave Collar". There is no option to remove the collar on the Gorns. I think it is a Klingon plot to keep the Gorn down.

I also wish we had options to dress more like the original Gorn in Areana.

Any chance we could get an ability to throw rocks like the above NPC? I would also love an option to equip a sharp stone dagger or something for melee combat. And a shorter cooldown on my Bite. I only get one trait to choose, and my Bite takes forever to recharge.

    Thanks,

its nice that there are more gorn options coming but when are they actually going to give us the ability to make gorn that look the gorn from TV?

TOS Gorn or Enterprise Gorn are acceptable me.

Why are the gorn so small and so short, look how much bigger than gorn on Cestus IIi was than Kirk or the mirror gorn mirror archer fights?

why are the gorn so short and skinny? My buddy plays a gorn, we were playing together last night and he was smaller than my orion.

The gorn look like a human with a rubber mask on.

The gorn and the naussicaan have long been a huge disappointment to me.

Well, from the work-in-progress picture of the new Gorn customization it does look as if the collars will be optional once it goes live.

And I agree. Hence my hopes for this being used as an inspiration for female Nausicaans. :P

It's simply "another kind of sexy". Raw, brutal, a bit creepy, yet at the same time strangely exotic. Alien, so to say.
Way better than the usual "common beauty" female designs, at least.

In regards to their height, build, collar and costume, I've been assuming that it will be addressed with the update.

I HOPE it will be addressed.
