New Space Dock?

After speaking about this in another thread, somebody had said that the only ESD make-over was the new background. But I remember a Dev chiming in and specifically mentioning or at least hinting that ESD itself was getting a make-over. Well, I found the load screen pic and took a screen shot of it. So....

HERE IT IS If this is the new plan for ESD, then I must say, Devs...I wholeheartedly approve!

    Thats Mars.

And that means that base is part of Utopia Planitia.

    But who knows?

yeah uh...thats Mars...not Earth. And based on what Cryptic has hinted at...we will see this:

or something rather close, I wouldnt expect it to be as empty looking in the area.

You know the base on the left side is kinda close to it.

    The mushroom top anyways. Maybe.

The location of the pic IMO was irrelevant. I knew that was not Earth in the backdrop. I'm just saying I have not seen that mushroom shape or the one beside it in game anywhere. So I am guessing that this is just a preview of what is to come.

As was pointed out before: That is mars. The already existing Utopia Planitia fleet yards at Mars, that is in the klingon mission line, not what is coming.

Agreed: The bases in that pic are not bad, but that dosen't automatically mean that it illustrates the changes coming, untill anything other has been stated by Cryptic, I would not get my hopes up.

Starbase 24 is one of these type docks.

I also agree and understand what you meant by the pic, so people always have to point out the flaws in anything anyone posts. I mean anyone could tell the planet in the back ground is not a Class M planet.
I do agree that this would look awesome if this is the shape of things to come for ESD, and who knows once they put in the ability to explore the SOL system we could see that screen shot come to life at Mars(which is what I tend to believe, dev's love putting in hidden stuff)

I have ran that mission twice with two different Klingon Characters. I honestly do not recall seeing either one of those Starbases. I'll run it again sometime tonight before going to bed just to make sure but if it is there, then I am shocked I took no notice. That is an amazing starbase that would be worthy as ESD. Just to be clear, I am referring to the Starbase on the left side of the page...

It's not that I pointed out a flaw.

Once ESD gets its new looks it should be unique.
Not one found both at Earth and Mars orbit.

But whichever design it will get it will probably look out of place because of the scaling of ship vs stations is a tad bit off generally. It does so already.
But it seriously need the rather iconic mushroom top.

Agreed. The mushroom top is a must, whatever design they end up using.

I have just ran the mission where you go to Mars on the Klingon side and those Star Bases....are not there. The Star Bases in those pics are not yet in game. So it is safe to say, that they can be used for the new ESD. Besides, there were more than one Starbase that looked like the Mushroom Starbase. There were a few actually. So it is safe to say that it can be used for the Mars *and* the Earth Spacedocks.
