The ingame version seems overpoweringly thick and bright...
On the official model, the stripes are subtle and are about the last thing you notice when you look at the ship, but nice to notice the extra detail when you do see it. But this in contrary you'd be hard-pressed to notice anything but the stripes first, and always glaring over other player set hull color options and design overlay.

Could they possibly be thinned down and their brightness dulled a bit..?

This ship is very important to me, but the way these stripe markings are right now is really upsetting me.. I know it's just a game and most probably don't care.. but it's important to me..

Yes, for anyone without them currently, these Intrepid decals with red stripes and golden chevron will apparently come about upon the next change and save at ship customization, and there is no option to reverse it. I understand they are a part of the original design and were missing before, but they should properly compliment the ship, not glaringly contrast as they do now.

I don't feel it's right to allow so much customization of colors and design on one hand and then have a forced color decal of that magnitude on the other, completely undermining and overwhelming all the color and design done. (See: http://i.imgur.com/aG83D.jpg) If not toned down, I believe they should at least be only put in with the vanilla design ("none") or a separate variant of its own, satisfying both those who would want them and those who would prefer to customize the decal designs on the ship, as they have been all along.

Boundless customization of character and ship details is one of the most important parts of this game for me, and this is quite a step backwards on that.

Are there markings on the sides of the engineering hull?

They keep forgetting to add those to the Sovereign, Luna and Intrepid...there are supposed to be decals on the sides. Also, its possible the red of the decals looks so overpowering because of the dark skin and purple you used on the ship, thus making it look odd. Try using the type 1 textures and making the ship fully white and you will see the decals no longer stand out as much. Its not much of a fix, because you probably dont want your ship to look like that but the decals were added with the original ship colors in mind.

It's just as thick and overly bright even on 1, 2 and 3 hull.

The arrow stripe has been added to the sides of the hull, aswell.. same overly thick and overly bright stripe..

The decals on the side have been added as well.

Re: Type 1, full white with no colors: that's what I was addressing in the previous post. The customization of the ships -- two or three variant classes of any given ship and mix/match of their parts, four hull material types, entire color palettes, lists of mixable hull designs, and even four different window types from which to choose -- is very much encouraged and embraced, and this single new change invalidates all of it, forcing one to use the original design with no customization just to get past not looking odd. Unfortunately, not much of a fix indeed.

I very much support the addition of such details that were missing from the ship before, but there should at least be an option taking into consideration these things, which is what I hope for by bringing it to attention with these posts.

Well, now I can see. They do appear to be too thick and a little too bright no matter what. The yellow seems okay but its the red that throws me off a bit.

The original Defiant design also has identical decals. (Pic)

Along with the golden chevron added just recently, they have been present on the default ship as a much more reasonable red. (Pic)
Unlike the new ones on the Intrepid and any other ship, however, the Defiant's are actually fully color customizable, as you can see here. (Pic)

I hope the same can be done for the others.

Would a dev be willing to at least offer to look into it or outright deny there can be a change made to the brightness and thickness of the stripes..?
Just any acknowledgment is what I wish for, I guess...

i agree i would love to see all the ships' shield grid lines (thats what they are referred to in most references), along with hull plating lines to be more accurate, perhaps as time goes on, and the game is improved upon.
