Yes it does....other than that ridiculous anomaly
I think the anomaly itself looks fine, but I do wish it weren't so close to Earth/ESD. It's closer than the dadgum moon, even!
I would love to see it pushed out a little, at least as far as the first of the "old" stations around ESD.
And before anyone QQ's about this suggestion, I am also a Lifer and use the Captain's Table. Speaking of which, the Ferengi vendor inside Captain's Table is about the only one who saw no love in Season 3, any chance of him getting some useful items for RA's and such?
Also while on the subject, Captain's Table in general could use a "refresh", perhaps Dabo, at least? Something to do there besides use the same consoles available in ESD.
Thanks for Season 3, VERY welcome changes, much more enjoyable now.
SOL looks good, thank you for the skybox update. I do think more needs to be done to SOL system though, specifically pertaining to Earth. Earth is the heart of the Federation, and Starfleet, but it doesn't look like it in the game. There needs to be more activity around Earth. We need to see Starfleet ships orbiting Earth, we need to see shuttles going from Earth to ESD, shoot we could even see some "streaks" in the atmosphere happening indicating that shuttles are entering Earth's atmosphere at random times. It would also be nice if there was some indication of Earth rotation. I understand ESD is in geosync orbit, BUT, the position of the Sun NEVER changes on the Earth, it looks very static. So the skybox was a good move in the right direction, but please don't stop there.

Easy solution to that would be to animate the skybox so that the sun moves around it. Would give the effect that the planet and everything around it are moving, while keeping the models static.
It would also make people from the Middle Ages very happy to know that the sun revolves around the Earth.
I was unaware they had changed space in Sol to the much requested black. Thats good to hear. Now i can't wait for the new ESD exterior. And, of course, an increase in the size of the Earth. We're so far away.:)
Honestly, I dislike the new look. Sure, it's more realistic (to everyone that had an opportunity to travel to the 25th century and observe what the view around Earth may or may not look like at that point in time.......) but I think it looks incredibly bland, dull, and lifeless (unlike the rest of the game). And that's a pity, because Earth is an area Federation players return to frequently. I thought the artists had it right the first time around; the view was much more inspiring with the colorful background.
Picard must have said "Let's see what's out there." because the cold, dark view around Earth depressed him.
Why am I reminded of that Fawlty Towers episode with the deaf lady?
"Well, may I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeasts swinging majestically... "
And we don't need time machines to know what the sky will be like in the 25th century. It's barely changed in the last 2000 years, I'm sure it will survive the next 400. We don't have any stars due to explode in our area any time soon, and the only other major change that could happen will be the collision with the Andromeda Galaxy in 2 billion years.
when can we fly to earth on the esd map and beam down to sf hq
That is actually becoming more and more important to me lately. I think its been long enough since launch to the point where there should be an Earth based ground zone of sorts.

To me too. San Fransisco and Starfleet Head quarters, it will get here eventually, there's no way around it

Thank you Cryptic! For getting rid of that big blue eyesore that was Sol "space"
Season three has done wonders for making STO actually feel like it takes place in space.
Keep up the great work!

Yeah. I am still hoping that it gets changed to a button in sector space.
So when we are near Sol, and have access to the CT, we would have the options of entering the Sol System or the Aenigma Nebula.
Or just stick it out in Sector space somewhere.
Yea, it really makes no sense to have it so close to another social area. Maybe they need to put it near the Briar Patch or something.
Or just create a special transwarp button to go there.
That would work. And just have it dump you in the Vulcan Sector when you leave.
There are no blue-purple clouds in space anymore.
See, it's the little things.
Yeah, that one bugged me too. But not quite as much as Earth...and dont forget K-7..
The stars are more realistic. The blue nebula has burned off...

To be fair DS9 is in the Denorios Belt, although it is a blue-ish purple colour.
However, big improvement for the Sol system, it is now more realistic, and not so cartoon like anymore.
Hmmmm I wonder if that was the "big surprise" they were talking about? No where was it mentioned they were going to clean up Sol....
As a sucker for detail, I still have to agree with you, even for season 3 as a whole
