I doubt you'll ask this first one but I'm kinda angered right now. So I'll put two, real question and my angered question.

    1. Do you know why the age requirement for the Design Next Enterprise was set at 21 and not 18 like normal contests?

Because it seem like a Dikutal move to me. I'm a 20 year old Computer Art student with a great design I'm working on, using Maya at school, that I badly want to submit. Both for a chance to win the contest but more importantly for a chance at lifetime membership so I don't have to wait 6 years or so that I calculated it will take me at my current income, subtracting college loan debt payments and projected gas money usage, to afford lifetime. Which with the way the game keeps getting better I know I want.

    2. Will there be anymore free weekends.

I only subscribed this month cause I badly wanted to test foundry and just because in the off chance this was set up so that the Enterprise Contest was only available to current subscribers I wanted to subscribe so I could enter. Now I found out it wont be open to people age 20 and last I checked foundry was still not up. I almost want my money back so I can put it back to my buying lifetime subscription founds, which was at $20 from several months of savings when I subscribed this month. :(

I would like to know if there will ever be a presistant pvp zone that will really bring home the war between the Klingons and Federation. I would like to be able to take space stations and planets in a massive battle between Klingons and Feds. I see this as the major missing element in Star Trek Online. I hope this will happen one day.

    Thanks,

I know this may be a while down the road but here is something I'd like to see. A mercenary race. Just a group that you can play as where your main priority is to raid and acquire. It could include a multitued of species. Throughout many of the trek shows there have been many pirate types and rouges that are broken off from the main race, like some of the Ferengi. So you could have a selection of ships that are based on Ferengi, Miridorn type (TNG Gambit) to name a few. Then you could be hired out to reek havic on the galaxy. Not really a good guy and not really a bad guy just one that is out for Latnium.

I would like to see the rebirth of the Maquis maybe in conflict with klingon or romulan border worlds while a Starfleet Officer should be able to join the Maquis as symphathisant.

Remember, Zero and Fark are from QA and are responsible for bug and build testing. They will most likley not be answering any questions in regards to development but more about the QA process.

Zero or Fark, feel free to chime in with some ideas about what the fans can ask :D

I'll let you figure out how to put this in the form of a question:

How can you be sure a new feature is bug free when you slap it on a server full of bugs? Shouldn't Tribble be what's coming as a whole unit rather than just bits and pieces? (Season 3 as released yesterday should have been a duplicate copy of what's on Tribble. You should use Redshirt for non-releasable content.)

    It should be like this:
Redshirt: closed beta; new feature test
Tribble: pre-Holodeck full feature test and bug squash
    Holodeck: final bug free release

I think if done that way, on big release days you essentially rename Tribble, Holodeck. And then you will know it works 100%.

I am still having a huge problem with bo's falling through the ground on away missions. NPC's trapped inside hills and buildings where they are able to shoot at me , but i can not shoot back.

Will romulans always have the ability to revive vaporized npc's?

Will the AI be improved to the point where NPC ships no longer fly into asteroids and become untargetable?

Will we ever see a point in time where the ships start to follow the laws of physics?

Most interesting ones ... right ... you mean the most squishy ones don't you :p

Not holding my breath over these as Cryptic are only talking to you because you play nice and ask what they want to hear.

Why was a nerfed Brel Retrofit released on the November 12 update to Holodeck, this ship was never seen on Tribble and no annoucement was or has to this day ever been made by Cryptic regarding this change?

Was the Brel Retrofit intentionally nerfed or just bugged and why has Cryptic remained completely silient on this issue despite the concerns of the KDF community?

Do you think that KDF players have a right to be angry given those who spent their ship token or cstore credits on the Holodeck Brel unknowingly accquired a completely different ship to the one that was available for testing on Tribble, this ship remained unnerfed on Tribble for weeks after the Holdeck update which nerfed it was live?.

Why are all the alien bridge officers on the exchange male only? Can we get some female alien bridge officers that aren't white quality from a vendor?

Is the fact you can't buy Feedback Pulse II from the skill vendor ever going to be fixed?

The real question is why are all of the rewarded Alien BOs male only? The only females you can get at all are from the vendor. Why aren't there any female Alien BOs awarded? This really impacts my main crew as all of the females have to be default whites.

My question is this, even though we were happy to see more Klingon content with this last patch compared to the Federation the amount of content for it's counter part is almost shameful. Can we ever hope to be brought up the same level of content as the Federation has?

    My question is for Zero:

    More voiceover, please.

    Er... Let me rephrase that.

When will zero be doing more voicework?

I remember being taken aback with her work as Rebecca Simmons in Infected and when I heard her give that last interview, I was half-convinced it was some kind of synthetic program that the folks at Cryptic were using.

I've done acting and public speaking for years. I've met and seen some pro actors in person. But Zero's voice is amazing. She could record the phone book as far as I'm concerned.

If they ever look at bringing back custom bridge officer voices that they had in Beta, I hope she records for it!

And to frame that around as a QA person, is QA ever given a set of assets (like the voicework) and asked to catalogue and propose ways of repurposing it? It's a shame for assets to go unused.

Actually, what we do is pick the questions to get asked and then make sure they are okay answering them. We have not had one question turned down yet because we do make sure they are reasonable first :) I think we should be able to get your question answered!

My question is how is it that the season updates make it through QA on Tribble then cause such problems when they hit Holodeck? Season 2 was a disaster and Season 3 was hardly perfect; but it seems those problems should have been found by QA before they hit Holodeck. Is it the lack of numbers of players on Tribble? If so, shouldn't we be making a bigger deal out of testing on Tribble?

As for the questions you choose, perhaps you should be pushing the boundaries a little bit more. Obviously you guys love STO but even Mr. "Awesome" knows it isn't perfect. If Cryptic has not refused a question yet perhaps it means you aren't pushing for information enough.

My only other complaint about the show is that if you've followed the forums there isn't much to learn. I often get a bit bored listening to you guys reading a forum dev post that I've read already. STOked has a math segment and other stuff, you guys do dev interviews and community feedback but there is room for improvement. Perhaps more than a re-read of the post followed by "Awesome". I do listen every week regardless so consider this feedback and not a flame, please.

Cryptic really, really should have used Mark to do voiceovers for Scotty in the Devidian episode. I get a kick out of every time he opens his mouth. Congrats on graduating, Mark!

Def not flaming :) thank you for the feedback and with your permission, would love to feature it on the show next week or so. .

But to answer, we talk about the dev posts because most people actually don't read the forums so we like to share it so they get to hear it too.

Did you listen to this week's show? I'm loving the new Foundry segment and can't wait to start showcasing listener missions next week.

Will we ever get the ability to determine where our BOs sit on our bridge?

Can anything be done about the absurd visuals of officers floating on top of their chairs, moving their hands through consoles, etc?

There is, despite the above, some pretty graphics and images in this game. Will we ever be able to focus our camera on other characters/objects for a better view?

By the way, I love your enthusiasm so I don't mean to belittle the word Awesome. I just think maybe more commentary about the posts so you add something for those who already keep up with the Dev Tracker like me. And you're right, you provide a service to all those who don't keep up with the forums.

I did watch the show. I didn't get as much out of the Foundry segment as I might if I'd tested the Foundry yet. I spent the time getting all my dozen alts through the Devidean episodes before the special item went away, and since you can't take your missions with you from Tribble I was less eager to start working on a mission yet. But I certainly will give it a try in the future and plan to play a lot of the Foundry missions made by you and others. I've done each of the main storylines multiple times and just did the Devidean episodes a dozen times in a row; I'm eager for something new. Being a Trek captain, seeing new things and having new adventures is what draws me; the Foundry has the potential to provide a never ending fount of new stories.

    How difficult would it be to;
Maintain a Character Ship's presence in Sector Space while the Character Persona is active in the Ship's Interior/Bridge?
    • While traveling?
    • With a view of live Sector Space through the Bridge Viewscreen and windows?
    • With Sector Space being displayed on the Mini-Map?
    • With the Sector Map being displayed on the Bridge Viewscreen?
I'm assuming that some of the should not be too, difficult and some of it would be practically impossible to accomplish within the current game code. So... what's what?

Is there any chance of going back and fixing spelling errors in the missions?

In several missions I've noticed the word asteroid is misspelled. In one of the patrols in the Alpha Centauri sector every single Asteroid you interacted with was spelled "Astriod" (can't remember the mission off the top of my head). And one of the Asteroids you interact with in the Hfihar system has a similar error.

In several missions, including the feature episodes. The word "loathe" used in place of the word "loath". That is a common mistake, but it's still wrong.

In the third part of researcher rescue, when you check the clearly female scientist on the ground, you get a dialogue that reads "He's dead."

While these are minor things, they do make the mission dialogues seem a bit tacky to those of us who notice, and it would seem to be the responsibility of QA to catch these things. these things.

If we're talking typos, the last time I ran the Q mission, the length of time from the Battle of Wolf 359 was off, implying it happened around 30 years ago instead of around 40.

Also, the starbase Harry Kim commands has a sign for "Club K-7"; other signs have been fixed since then but this has been an issue since beta.

    1. Will we ever see the K'Vort Bird-of-Prey? The design and class has been around as long as the B'Rel. It is essentially the big brother of the B'Rel Raider and is considered a Cruiser-class vessel with a Crew of 300+.

    Quote from Wiki:
First introduced in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, the Bird of Prey has featured in five of the films and frequently appears in The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. Industrial Light & Magic designed and built the Bird of Prey for Star Trek III, assisted by the film's director, Leonard Nimoy. ... Although several variants are seen throughout the franchise, design notes state that the Bird of Prey has two main classes: the B'rel-class and the K'Vort-class. Both classes used the same studio model, differing in sizes in proportion to other starships depending on variant. The B'rel-class is a scout vessel, used for espionage, skirmishes and raids, while the K'Vort-class is a light cruiser. Both classes are armed with disruptor cannons mounted on the tips of the wings and a forward torpedo launcher. Likewise, both classes are equipped with cloaking devices and are capable of impulse and warp speeds. With a crew of only 12 and a length of 160 meters, the B'rel-class is far smaller than the K'Vort-class, which measures 320 meters and possesses a crew of 300+. The interior of the Bird of Prey is similar to that of Douglas Trumbull's submarine-like designs for the K't'inga-class; some Birds of Prey are even shown with periscopes to allow the captain to personally target weapons. Despite relatively light armaments, Birds of Prey are shown to be effective craft; both the USS Enterprise and USS Enterprise-D are destroyed in part due to the activity of a Bird of Prey.

The Boeing Bird of Prey stealth UAV was named for the Klingon ships.

    2. Will we see an iPhone, iPad, or Android-type application for STO? WoW, Age of Conan, and Aion have already introduced their tools to the satisfaction of their subscribers.

    3. On the KDF side the Tricorder and System Scanners do not work correctly. I assume this was not an issue since the KDF did not farm resources for crafting. Now that the Klingons have craftiing, will the Tricorder and Scanners get some love? On the Foundry tool, I could not get the Scanners to find the Automatic Mission points that were supposed to be generated in my mission in my tests before I published my mission. This has always worked on the FED side in ground-based and space missions, but the Klingon scanner for Mission destinations has always been trial-and-error, using basic search-and-rescue patterns by sweeping a zone until we find all the goals. This allows to Feds to progress through missions a lot faster than their KDF counterparts. I always laughed it off as the FED scanner technology was more advanced than that of the Klingons, but it would be nice if this issue was finally put-to-bed...
