I know this is a little late, but the observation lounge that we see in first contact missions (and a few other areas) is absolutely GORGEOUS! Whoever designed this, you really are talented! Kudos, I love it!
One problem: I can't access it while walking around my ship's interior?
This would be a great place to hold fleet meetings, or just to hang out on my ship.
*Can it be added as another instance, accessible through a turbolift? Or some other (hopefully easy) way?
I'd love to see some fun functions added to it as well. How about an interact-comp that let's me summon my SENIOR STAFF to the observation lounge? I can select an option that has them all be seated for a briefing, or another that has them come in and stand and talk like during the first contact missions. Seems like a great option for expanding roleplay.
Would also be nice, if this were made a room on our interiors, to have all the chairs ones with the fabulous new "SIT" option, so that we and our friends can all sit around the table and chat.
I do like your suggestions since its pretty much in line for what Cryptic plans to do with interiors eventually. When that will be is anyone's guess so we shall see.

I agree and am eagerly awaiting it being added for UGC as well.
This idea has been mentioned multiple times before and i'm still all for it. Though i don't know why Cryptic didn't make the lounge accessible in your ships interior in the first place.
Agreed. I would love the lounge added to the Bridge layout. In the terms of role play, how about when you invite someone to your bridge, they beam in on the transporter pad and not the bridge? That would be more realistic but, another topic in another thread.
I suspect that part of the reason they didn't add it originally was that not all the bridges have the same number of doors. Some of the bridges only have two doors. If your ready room and the turbolift are a must, where will the Conference room go? Another point is that both the bridges and the conference room have odd angled doors. Even if you fit them together, you would have the conference room facing off at weird and somewhat random angles to the bridge. Lastly, at the time interiors were launched, the dev time was in a mad rush to get it done, given that the interiors had to be hooked up to each and every bridge by hand. That means that any change to the interiors needs to be done a few dozen times.
I think interiors is part of the reason Dan shifted the focus to "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right" approach. I think the dev team will get to interiors, but they're not going to touch it till they can do it properly.
If I recall correctly, it is really a pain to add to existing bridges because there are so many of them.
I have no objection to sticking the observation lounge on its own deck. I just think it is the most gorgeous room and would like to hang out in it.
Also, I'd love for whoever designed it to be put to work designing more interiors! I really think the observation lounge is one of the best looking rooms in game.

Not even sure if they know why either. I remember it being a big point of confusion when S2 first arrived on Tribble.
It really would be a nice addition to the layouts, but unfortunately it doesn't look like they'll be touching interiors for Season 3...

Yeah, id like to see the lounge made available in the interiors. Id kind of like a visual revamp of the Fed interiors...they could have done a much better job with detailing. From LCARs consoles to making things caled properly. I want more control of how my interior looks.
I'm pretty sure the lounge isn't accessible from your bridge, where you'd expect it to be, as some of the smaller bridges (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, the Defiant ones - not that I believe it should be on the Defiant, but not every ship using a Defiant bridge will be a Defiant class or one of its variants, so you kind of need the option) only have two entrances, one used by the readyroom and the other by the turbolift. So it'll likely be added to another deck that's yet to be implemented, or become a deck all of its own.
I think they're holding off on interior improvements because the plan is for us to make them from scratch to our preferences with the Foundry late in 2011.
This also presents an issue with attaching the Lounge because it likely needs to remain non-customizable for the sake of the PvE missions that lready use it.
That said, I can't see why it can't be a separate instance that we can access from the bridge or turbolift, at least.

Yeah, that might be a year away. Please stick it in as an instance real quick, I have meetings to hold!
Also, the idea of summoning the senior staff would be really cool.
Hmmm. Couldn't they add it as a Turbolift option (or an option near one of the unused doors on any bridge that has unused doors) and just spawn a new instance Observation Lounge #8347 or whatever whenever it loads? That way, they wouldn't have to mess with the bridge layouts.

A turbolift option would probably be the most feasable. If they wanted to make it a room off of the bridge, they'd pretty much have to redo part of the lounge because of the windows. They slope down and in, which suggests to me that the lounge is somewhere on the ventral side of any given ship.
And give our ships toilets for crying out loud! I am getting sick and tired of having to pull over at every other planet because some crewman needs to beam down for a potty break.

Just tell them to use the kitchen in the crew lounge, that's what the pot is there for.
The first being that it's inaccessible except in first contact-style mission.
The second being the way the windows are angled, which only support the lounge being on the ventral side of the ship rather than the dorsal one.
If one day they make variants, I'd greatly value having a officer lounge that have thier windows inclines more like those on the Galaxy-class/Sovereign-class.

That's funny, because I think the window angles is what makes the lounge look so great.
It also is one of the few rooms where I don't feel I am in some giant football stadium-sized room; the proportions 'feel' better than most designs (probably because of the slanted windows.

surely with the assest already in their it would be a pretty small patch to tag it to one of the dead end doors on the bridge layouts
Yes PLEASE!
We need more and more interior ship and deck !
Observation lounge is a first step

And another five to make the chair in our ready room one we can sit in just like the captain's.

+10

Either way: /signed, +1, yes please etc. etc.
actually i wondered myself too why this room isn't available in the ship interior yet.
so, i love the idea and would really like to be able to visit this room. the idea with the BO's also sounds great.
This and OP are full of win!
they totally stole the sovreign's ready room and engineering but left out everything else >_>
Yes. It is also where the way cool First Contact missions (which should be expanded, because they rock, but that's another thread) take place.
