Any chance you could post some images?
Sorry for slow reply, had finals and such... thread slipped my mind.
anyway since Foundry's deactivated for the moment I dug through the screenshots I had from when it was up and found one with animals:

don't think that's all of them but it's almost as many as can fit on screen at once. Not a bad start, now i just need a way to catalog them!

Wow those look really cool! Any new information regarding them? I guess the Devs haven't noticed this yet since there's been no response. Shame :(

Just because they don't post doesn't mean they don't notice. As long as the thread is kept active and people say "boy that's a really cool idea" there's a good chance it'll get some attention.

Well, I'm still all for it. It made the world of difference in the Defari missions, and it would be awesome to see the same concepts throughout all of the worlds.

Just turn them into kill quests for KDF.

While the OP could do with a few more Ascii 13's, I like the idea.

One of the better ones I've seen on this forum in a while.

I totally support the idea of the OP for wildlife in STO and the post was very well organized and written.

    oh hey, this is back.

I'll weigh in on recent developments then:
The use of animals in the latest set of Featured Episodes is definitely moving in the right direction. Roaming bands of Mastiffs outside the Romulan work camp was a great touch. It definitely added to the feeling they were going for there, and the spiders in last week's were quite a surprise at first too. Having seen the direction things were headed as far as mission structure and objective planning are concerned, I feel like the suggestions I made in the first post are more viable than ever. Imagine if, for example, the Science career option for removing the door to the Reman camp were to extract some type of acid from those spiders, or trick the Mastiffs into ramming the door down. It would be pretty unique and help to vary the career path decisions even more.

So having seen some wildlife in action now, anyone have any new opinions?

Yeah the wildlife packs were good, but again, they were there as something else to kill rather than to add to the ambiance. Personally, I think the Defari homeworld has the best atmosphere because it has lots of random people walking about, and even birds flying high up in the sky (I think) and it really makes it feel alive, rather than just having some wild dogs that you can kill.

I'm still all for the OP.

Yeah, some tamed Sehlat walking around in the Vulcan social area like in the Romulan mission two weeks ago would be great.

Seeing the giant worm today was a real "WOW" moment. I think it should prove that "nonsentient life", as the mission today put it, can be just as interesting to interact with. It was incredibly detailed and just all around amazing. I also think today's mission did a great job of showing how you can use wildlife in interesting ways throughout the mission, and the gathering medicine for Slamek part is almost exactly what I described earlier (Only with plants substituted for animals). Definitely on the right track here.
