Just bumped into one on VA in Traelus. I don't know if anyone else has encountered them, but they are extremely tough to kill. Tougher than a Jem'Hadar attack ship. I know because I had to kill two of the hideki class ships while fighting the jem'hadar heavy escort.
Anyone else think they're a bit too tough defensively?
actually i find that they are slightly tougher then a runabout... but sometimes they can be a little hard to hit.
however they still go down easy to escort/BoP fire.
in a way i wish they were tougher.
i tried doing some research on the Hedeki, and found many conflicting results.
some sights claim they are essentially a cardie runabout, including ST memery alpha strike.
other sights, including the guy that designed it for the DS9 show says they are bigger then runabouts and MUCH tougher for their size. (like a weaker defiant)
all sights seem to say they are one of the few small vessel in the alpha/beta quadrant used in fleet actions because they pakc a suprising amount of firepower.
however i always thought they were double the size compared to whatt hey are presently potrayed in the game now.
I think they were used before the Dominion War to patrol the border and intercept smugglers. I have not encountered any yet, so I will have to see if their incarnation in this game is up to par.
