Where are the Featured Episodes?

This is a nagging question that many have when they log into the game. Most come to this website and forum in hopes to find the answer. They should not have to do that. I know that for the Breen series, there is a screaming Deferri on ESD asking for help. Honestly, I can't help but think that deferri is lost admist a maze of other NPCS on ESD. That deferri doesn't even have a yellow icon over its head indicating that he can be talked to. If he does, then my bad... why didn't I notice it?

Currently, the only way to know how to acccess Devidian episodes is to ask pepole on the forums, in the game, or read about it in an email. Another way is through the launcher.. .which directs you to the forums to learn about them some more.....

So.... I propose that we assign 1 person that can be hailed from the ship's UI screen for information on all featured episodes. I believe the hail menu is the primary place newbies and verterans go to discover missions while in game. Granted, the Devidian series missions was orchestrated by the secret section 31.. but starfleet had to know SOMETHING was going on near starbase K-7. I don't think it is unreasonable to assign 1 person to hail for infromation about all featured episodes.

What do you think?

In Dstahl's series thread I suggested that the NPCs contact you via a pop-up hail when you're in sector space traveling between various missions. They should be getting in contact with you when there's a problem. You shouldn't be calling them, or going to them, to see if they have problems, IMO. :)

I too would like to see something a bit more obvious than a blue rectangle on the side of my screen

Well, I contact Ambassador Jiharo to see if there are any diplomatic problems all the time :) I also contact just about all the commanders from time to time to see if there is any need for me to patrol or defend sectors, etc.

Edit: Let me also add that each person I cotnact has a yellow "mission information" icon next to his/her name. I take that to mean that I am "responding" to their hail.

When you go into the Neutral Zone, in your random travels, a Pop Up shows up on the right of screen from Section 31 head.

When you enter the Diferi, (SP??), space, a Pop Up from the area Ambasador shows in the same place.

When you reply to any of those pop ups, you can get more missions.

Similar to finding a Candy Store while traveling across country.

Not what I mean. If someone wants you to do something out of the ordinary they should be contacting you. I shouldn't have to fly to Eta Eridani to discover an emergency brewing there. Drake should be contacting me through secure channels to let me know he needs my help. It's the same with the Deferi. If Starfleet needs help with something in that area then Jiro or Quinn should be letting me know. I shouldn't have to ask. I don't remember Picard calling Starfleet and asking if he could go and infiltrate a Cardassian base. :)

Instead of a huge window which pops up during our mission blocking out our ability to view whatever is going on, perhaps a message icon that indicates incomming message captain. we can choose to answer it or ignore them. a sizeable incomming message icon that says just that is better then the flashing communication badge that really doesnt tell you who is messaging you.

The dev team has left this problem go on long enough. as many have said before. we like the ships but dont neglect the game to try and sell us eye candy so you hope we will forget the problems you let the game ship with. VO we know is BS that you dont have the tech. you can do it when we level up so i dont know why you cant do it with a regular voice when it comes to hails. Star wars is doing it so the problem is you do not wish to do it. Not that you can not do it.

True, true. We should not have to fly to Eta Eridani to find out that there is toruble brewing there. A pop up might be a nice addition.. but I still think that "person", whoever it may be, should still "hailing" me through secure channels in my Hail inbox or whatever you call it for me to "respond" too. After one pop up, someone might accidentally close the pop up or forget where to go to in order to access said missions. Hah!

    .

Actually I like the "incoming hail" message as opposed to a pop myself too.

I think if my communications officer popped up on my screen saying she had a secure message from Admiral Quinn I'd figure out not to close it (it's not like I we gets tons of pop-ups while in Sector Space); but even if I did close it the message could just stay on the right side of my screen where they usually stay until I agreed to take the message and accept the mission. :)

Ok, thats one way to do it. Anything to spread the love for featured epiosdes!

Edit: Please keep the ideas/ signatures coming. The more to notice this thread, the more likely it will gain notice from Devs. I stil believe this is a serious issue and answers one of Dstahl's questions: Why are you not playing featured episodes??

I believe this suggestion is a good one, but I would suggest that the button for "Franklin Drake" for example, simply flash if a mission is available.
