I've been doing the Breen arc again on Tribble using my Vice Admiral, and something has me rather furstrated, again.

The first mission, when you face Thot whoever at the ruins on Defera, he has an ability that oneshots the whole team. It's a huge cone attack with an enormous range that does enough damage to defeat me and my whole team from full health. This is on the LOWEST difficulty.

Now, I'm all for a challenge, but this is ludicrous. I am SICK of foes that have powers and equipment that are so vastly superor to ours. That Klingon with a Batl'etlh that routinely does 300-400 damage per attack should NOT be doing that unless my equivalent Klingon PC can too. He's using the SAME weapon I am, and has (presumably) the same skill I have (since I maxed out all the melee skills), so he should not be doing more damage than me, let alone SO MUCH more.

Our foes routinely have 5 times our shields, health and damage output, with no rational reason for it. If LOGIC should prevail in any setting it's Star Trek. These are not MAGIC Klingons, they're using the same equipment as the PCs. Their equipment and abilities should be the same as ours, or at least comparable.

Seriously, this issue has destroyed my interest in many other games. I'd hate to see it do the same here. If they're going to have these superhuman stats and abilities, there has to be a logical explanation provided.

    1. On normal I never had this problem.

I don't know how to express this, when I play'd D&D (didn't even have a A in front), you had to give a villain powers to challenge you.

In James Bond Films they got to explain their plan.

In the Lord of the Rings, they got uber orcs and giant beasts.

In Star Trek there was omniscient beings.

If you think it's magic you are in the wrong game. It's considered a challenege, and really it's by far not a challenge.

My God, you should know this by now. Are you new to MMORGs? Can't be for Trek you have a join date like me, but seriously, you have these problems?

No offense, but maybe a differant game. Search these forums, guess what, when you find you are a minority and everyone is fine, it's you, not the game.

Find a friend or two, you'll get through it.

It's not a bug, in your example, been there done that. I'm sorry. Not the game but you. I'm more than happy to help and show you how to pawn this mission, PM me.

If you are a member of a Fleet, your fleet sucks.

People need to stop posting knee-jerk reactions to TRIBBLE (Last weekly mission is a prime example), and

    THIS HURTS, THIS REALLY HURTS,

    As a PVE player,

    L2P!!!

Oh, and what do you want explained? It's the same in every game. Yes it is, go ahead and try to post it's not, I'm waiting.

One shoting mobs are just an anoyng bugs nothing more.
Yes they have more shield & health... so combat take more time... but to have 10 and up times more DPS with same weapon is silly, or just bugged as I sad.

In D&D and many other games, you can make foes ludicrously more powerful and say, "It's MAGIC!" In Star Trek, it's SCIENCE Fiction not FANTASY, so there has to be logical cohesion. If a phaser does 100 damage, then that phaser should do 100 damage regardless of whether it's a PC or an NPC using it. Klingons, Romulans and other "normal" races are not Omnipotent beings. They're normal people, relative to Humans. If I was fighting Gary Mitchell (for example), I'd expect him to be massively more powerful, because a REASON was provided for it. Same thing for creatures that are defined as being stronger in some way. A Krayt Dragon SHOULD be stronger than a normal person. People are people and should all be more or less the same. Doing otherwise breaks the cohesion of the setting.

Challenge should be the result of better AI and an even chance. I found the original Rainbow Six challenging, and the enemies there had the same attributes as me and my team. You can create a challenge through means other than overmatching the player.

I'm not sure what your James Bond reference is about.

I've completed the mission, several times. The problem is in the design philosophy. The experience I related is just the evidence of the philosophy. This is NOT a knee-jerk reaction. I have posted similar comments here in the past, and over the years on many other forums for many other games.

It's a problem I think needs to be addressed.
