I agree, I think the rally point markers should be much less instrusive on the visuals. Have you seen how they work in Guild Wars? They're very streamlined and not at all in your face, but always easily accessible.
I thought this might be an appropriate time to make a suggestion for rally point markers.
Use the same sized, bobbing overhead icons that have been implemented on other NPCs in the game, just make 4 numbered arrows. The bulk of the work's done now, so 4 more signs to add a layer of polish to ground combat would surely be worth it.
Add an on/off switch for the bobbing arrow and an opacity slider (0-100%) for the ground reticle, to the Ground UI options panel.
At the very least, it'll mean consistent graphics across the board.
