The Amazon/C-Store BOFF comes w/ her own Borg body suit and I thought that perhaps lifer's could get access to the male and female variants of this as a lifer's bonus? Here's a pic of what my drone looks like when I gear her up on Borg parts and I think it would look awesome on lifer's too.
Unfortunatly, the 'infected skin' texture of the Borg BO is associated only with that body suit, and goes away if you choose a more 'normal' uniform option. The body suit would be a nice option for the 'Liberated Borg' as well as for 'Aliens' but the 'infected skin' option still needs to be added to the Borg BO...

I agree, but since the point of the thread was to request Body suits for lifers it doesn't matter to me if the BOFF gets infected skin or not.
No thank you, Borg Implants is quite enough.
We don't need hundreds of Borg Drones running around ESD now.
One could also argue we don't need hundreds of mirror officers running around but hey we have plenty of those don't we. I'm not one to tell people what they can and can't wear for a game they are paying for.

Hundreds of mirror officers makes more sense than hundreds of borg running around.
Hundreds of mirror officers makes more sense than hundreds of borg running around.
Isn't the mirror universe a Federation antagonist? How does it make sense to go to ESD and see Mirror officers walking around all over?
Sure one could argue that they are defected mirror universe officers but then again one can argue that the Borg you see around are liberated from the hive. It's not like it hasn't been done before, Hugh, Lore's drones & the liberated drones from Unimatrix 0 all retained their implants.
If people want to RP mirror universe officers that's their call. If people want to play liberated Borg that's their call. It's not my place to tell someone what they can and can't wear in a game they are paying for. The excuse that "it ruins my immersion" doesn't justify keeping people from an item they might want.
I hate the mirror clothes, I think it's out of place BUT I wouldn't ask that it be removed from the game or try to keep people from using it. To each their own. I recognize that there are people who enjoy that look and I wouldn't dream of keeping them from enjoying themselves just because of how I personally feel about the uniform.

one reason why i want this is because... The First Officer system would allow to transfer your Engineer borg BO into a captain OR the science Drone... and everyone knows the drone has rly much customzation so everyone would look the same... (inculeds Breen BO too) So this point is unjustified
+1 for the suggestion i rly want to have this Borg Suit.

Heh nice one, but nobody knows any of this.
All we know is that the devs are considering making it possible to turn a BoFF into a player, but we have absolutely no idea what kind of restrictions they may impose.
It would be a nice option for uniformity and all that jazz. Nonetheless the clothing and body part of the game needs some serious reworking. Things are way to confined right now and it is very frustrating. My biggest peeve is that I can't select pointed ears for my humanoid toon. Seriously - WTF? Going on a year now and still no option...
I tend to doubt these special ones will be allowed although having said that one of my breens would be very unique then, he has the head and torso of the breen but the legs of my female andorian tac officer....don't know how it glitched but lol
As a lifer I say it is not necessary. It will only become another source of angst when it goes to the c store. We do not need any more of that.
I never said it was "necessary" but it would be nice. I also wouldn't mind if eventually it ends up on the C-Store as long as lifer's get access to it first and for free. Unlike the 7/9 implants, which went on the c-store FIRST and are restricted to Feds females. IMO those implants were something that should have been offered to all lifers (male, female,Fed,Klingon) that can make a Borg captain as default costume options on the tailor before making them part of a C-store item.

For all the people who want to have a character who is one Hugh's group who has joined the Federation this seems like a good idea. There's more than enough precedent in canon for separated drones with individuality who still rock the borg look in it's totality.
Frankly I would rather see all clothing options halted and the entire clothing system changed.
I think the biggest issue with clothing in STO is that its linked directly to character customisation. That was a very poor decision to make. Clothing should be equipable items, which therefore offers up the possibilities for clothing to have stats.
While clothing has stats, you can pursuade the players to wear the Starfleet uniforms for the mission content, and the Orion slave girl outfits for hanging around in Quarks, by giving the Uniforms combat bonuses.
Uniforms therefore become types of "armour", with different uniforms effectively filling the different armour roles (i.e. light, medium, heavy) while things like Orion slave girl outfits remain social clothing.
You therefore retain the level of choice for a player to wear what s/he wants, while also prompting the player to wear more appropriate clothing in certain areas - you're therefore more likely to find uniformed players running around places like ESD, and non-uniformed players running around places like Quarks - which obviously helps immersion rather than detract away from it.
Thats how it should have been from day one, frankly.

Believe it or not most people in this game like options. The option to choose your own outfit seems to be quite popular, hence all the c-store packs and requests specifically aimed towards more clothing. Need more proof? Stand by the tailor at ESD. At any given time that area can be full of people changing their outfits. I like the ability and freedom to wear what I want when I want. As it is I think the tailor is too restrictive, formal off duty outfits can't be mix matched w/ regular off duty outfits, male toons can wear any glove on any costume slot but females can't. That's just to mention a few.
I personally hated being restricted to the latest ugly armor in WoW just because it happened to have the best stats and I would hate it if my character's look in STO was determined by what stats the outfit provided. I'm thrilled that in STO stats are attached to body armor which can be hidden so that my unique costume can be displayed. I also like being able to put my uniform of choice on my BOFFs. If I had the ability to change the uniform of my entire crew I would do so in a heart beat.
Another downside of turning outfits into equipable items is that it would take up storage space. In WoW if I wanted to switch between DPS, heals or tank, I needed to have armor that worked for all three functions and that too took up storage space. My one character in SWG was a tailor, I made him that because I loved all the clothing options in the game and loved putting together my own outfits. The downside to this was space. I required 1 large house just to be able to store my personal outfits and those of my alts.
I'm also not a fan of herding players into certain outfits just to help someone's "immersion". My outfit shouldn't be restricted or limited just so that someone else can have more fun and vice versa. If I want to go and kill Borg in my underwear that should be my prerogative. If I want to play dabo while wearing my kit and armor and my weapon in full view, that's my prerogative. It may not be very RP friendly but then again not everyone in this game is an RPer. Those who aren't shouldn't be expected to conform to certain dress codes simply to indulge those who are.

Giving clothing stats to act like armour doesn't force you to wear it, it gives you a bonus for doing so. It isn't pigeonholing, it isn't reducing choice, it is rewarded players for wearing the right clothing at the right time.
You could still take on the borg in your underwear if you wanted, but if you wear the appropriate starfleet uniform you'd gain additional buffs for doing so.
Thats all I am talking about. The current armour, for example, could remain as the defensive stat clothing and retain its ability to be hidden, while uniform clothing give stats based on the uniform class.
Clearly you'd still have all of the choices currently available via the taylor, that wouldn't change, you just have a different way of equiping it.
Will that mean taking up space? Yes it will, but there's no reason why there couldn't be a specific clothing inventory for it.
As for relating things to WoW, WoW isn't the be-all end-all of MMO's. Just because WoW has armuour doesn't mean creating a proper clothing system in STO would be similar.
SWG has arguably the best clothing system of any game so far. It has the most customisation, the biggest diversity of combat and social clothing, and its more recent clothing tab addition allows you to equip hidden armour while wearing normal clothing to gain the stats of the armour.
I too like choice, and I too disslike a developer telling me what have to wear, but thats why you balance the difference between a clothing stat being a nice bonus as apposed to being a requirement.

Then why not skip the Lifer step and just put them on the c-store? That ultimately makes more sense for the community.

I don't recall saying that WoW was "the be-all end-all of MMO's". If anything I think I argued that the clothing and gear system in this game surpasses that of WoW by allowing the player to wear what ever they want when ever they want (for the most part).
The topic is Borg body suits for lifers not, rework clothing so it has stats.
This thread isn't about the discussion of whether clothing mechanics should or shouldn't be tweaked. That deserves a thread all of it's own and if you start one I'd be more than happy to debate that there, not here. This thread is to propose a new costume so please don't hijack it w/ discussions of changes to the game mechanics or any other topic irrelevant to the thread.
Then why not skip the Lifer step and just put them on the c-store? That ultimately makes more sense for the community.
Because it's a species specific item and I think that people who already have the species shouldn't be charged for something that clearly should belong to their species. If we were talking about off duty clothes for Klingons I would argue that the Klingons get first crack at it for free and that eventually it be included as a c-store bundle for the rest. The same way that I think that now that Orion's have their own unique look it wouldn't be bad if it eventually got released in the c-store for everyone else.
They also get a liberated Borg playable character, and it really just makes sense for those characters to look as much like Borg as the Borg BOs.
Exactly, all I'm asking is that the option that the liberated Borg BOFF has, be turned on for liberated Borg captains and that a male variant be added.

As far as I know, there is already a male variant: the sci Borg BO you get for completing that one STF. I haven't done it, so I wouldn't know, though...
I also agree, this would be very nice. Also, for the last time, can we get infected skin for the entire liberated borgs body instead of just the head? It looks super rediculous to have skin that doesn't match.
As far as I know, there is already a male variant: the sci Borg BO you get for completing that one STF. I haven't done it, so I wouldn't know, though...
Nah, the male Borg from the STF is the "new" Borg, the female is the old version.
As for the Borg Body suit, I would like to see it made a selectable body type for Borg bridge officers. If I have a borg body part on my borg bridge officer, I can't put it in a mirror universe or TOS uniform and keep the borg body parts.
Leave it in the uniform section for those that want the borg body with no other clothing showing, but add it please to the body/skin section so that we can show borg body parts where other characters might show skin. It would be great if this could be done for playable borg captains as well.
