9 starbases spread over a large map that can be captured by Feds or KDF. Intanced zone but open to all. No queue.
For every two starbases a side controls they gain access to one neutral zone mission with a possible reward of 1 emblem for completion. So if a side controls 8 starbases they have access to 4 neutral zone missions and potentially 4 emblems.
Controlling a majority of starbases at any point would allow players of that faction access to merchants that would sell unusual gear on their homeworlds.
The starbases should be far enough apart that players cannot see one while sitting at another. The zone should be full of interesting space "terrain" like an asteroid field or gaseous nebula that can hide players from scanners.
Captured starbases could be upgraded by the guilds that capture them over time.
Ah yes, I am loving it. Another twist would be building defense to maintain your control of the station once it's in your factions possession. Such as a few ships, fighter craft, turrets and sheilds.
I love the idea of capturing and holding in space stations. Vendors unique items would be a good way to get players to want to do it.
I like the idea of after you control the station so long you can upgrade it. I would also like to see a several turrets that could be controlled by players on the station to defend it from the ships.
Also since there were vendors let enemy ground forces enter the station when the shields were knocked down for ground combat.
