I was thinking the other day that it would very cool to be able to heal character injuries in the medical bay of your own ship, so if say you get injured on an away mission all you have to do is go to your own infirmary to get healed. Same kind of thing with ship damage, go to engineering and have to solve some puzzle or something to fix that damage.
Now I know its somewhat similar to the applying regeneration tools and the component tools, but perhaps if you go to your own infirmary or engineering maybe it'll cost less tools, or instead of a major damage you could repair it with a minor damage component.
Overall I really would enjoy not having to go to star bases to either heal my character or repair my ship. And I think this would add a nice touch.

I am completely in favor for this idea.
I think the problem would be though is that with the direction that STO is taking they don't want to make a interior functionality minigame(s) that only appeal to those who play on Advanced and Elite. Personally I think it would be awesome, but I could see that as a potential problem for justifying putting them in game. I think that we will probably end up seeing them (sooner at least) if cryptic had an interesting way to put them ingame, like as a component to one of the weekly series.
That being said I would really like to have a minigame that I could initiate in my interior outside combat to fix/heal injuries incurred on missions and save those regenerators/components for when I really need them.
Having really awesome minigames from someone recently promoted to a position for STO would be ever more awesome! (seriously though staring right at ThomastheCat here )
I agree that going to the med bay for injuries would be more realistic, but then you'd get into the whole: "When is it bad enough to mess up a mission" thing. When will you need to beam up for medical repairs for you or your team?
But I can't agree with not going in for major ship repairs and enhancements. These things can't be done in space, there's not the proper tools and parts for big repair jobs. I would think more realism would be to be forced back to a dock, if say, your ship goes below 20% hull, to some people they'd like instant repairs and never stop fighting, but if your looking for realism inside your ship, then we need some outside too.;)

Hmmm, what about only curing minor space injuries then? That way you have the whole "Damn, if I quit this right now and retreat I can survive with superficial damage and repair without spacedock...but then I lose all this progress". Since beaming out, if I recall, makes you lost all the progress you made up to a checkpoint you'd have to think really hard about risking major injuries that can't be cured with a minigame or critical ones that require spacedock to heal.
