We're talking the next Enterprise in our STO timeline. So I guess we'll be meeting Data in a few months.

    The Enterprise-F I think.

IMHO it should be the excalibur class...

Want to see the Full Terms & Conditions for this as if the Grand Prize (or any prize for that matter) cannot be won by someone outside the US there is no real reason for me to take part.

This is so exciting! It's a chance to have your name recognized with a piece of star trek canon! :)

I can't wait for the details!

I don't get it... If I (and I probably won't, cause I never win anything) win the forth place prize and up... does that mean I'll get my $300 back for already being a lifer? lol

I really like Mark Kingsnorth's designs...

    http://markkingsnorth.blogspot.com

Insignia class (more of a science vessel than a cruiser, but still cool):

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ABYCwpxSF2I/SxL6-AwH6uI/AAAAAAAABOM/GiYC0e94xq0/s1600/Challenger4.jpg

Ascension class (too big, unless they make it a non-playable dreadnought):

    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ABYCwpxSF2I/S0SbTS4X4-I/AAAAAAAABSY/JzWRHcuXYnY/s1600-h/insignia_ascension_comparison.jpg

    Hawking class (Enterprise-J intermediary?):

Remember, this is to DESIGN the next ship, not to reference another's design.

Anyways this looks like it's goning to be relly really cool to do! I wonder what the exact rules will be and what is required?

Have the terms and conditions for this specific competition even been revealed? I can't find them anywhere.

    Heavens NO!

I hate that ship with all my being.
(Theres also no love whatsoever lost between me and the current T5 Star Cruisers)

I prefer sleek designs (like Sovereign or Intrepid or Prometheus or Dauntless) or rugged designs (Defiant, Gryphon, Maelstrom, Raptors etc), not massive lumbering ones (EG Galaxy, Star cruisers, and their ilk)

But then again, thats personal preference.
Its not to say larger designs don't have their place in the Trek universe....
I just personally would much much rather see a Sovereign-lineage Enterprise-F rather than a Galaxy lineage.

Chances are, It's not really Cryptic's doing, but restrictions that your own government has set up on this sort of thing.

Canadian government has been TRIBBLE us over pretty well for years in this regard.

from previous contest explanations it normally seems that if any contest gives a prize that has a cash value then certain laws need be adheard to in each country, sometimes these laws contridict each other and cause a legal headache.

You can win a monetary prize as long as it has no cash value. ;)

Probably not, since the Enterprise E disappeared a while back. Plus, with likeness rights, we might end up seeing only a pile of circuits :/

I think you should explain, in detail, to your country's lawmakers, why you want to participate in contests like this. Then they might enable you to do so.

When I saw it I immediately though T&C. Knowing my luck it will be like the T5 ships competition and it's USA exclusive. Not looking for arguments I'm aware of the legalities but obviously I'd give it a go if I'm eligable.

Not hard canon. Soft canon. It's the Enterprise for STO, not for a film or television show. (Technically, the Video Games are not even considered soft canon, so not really canon at all.)

Nah. It just means you'll have a second lifetime account that you don't have to pay for.

The one that disappeared was the base that the Enterprise was send to investigate! If we don’t knew nothing about the E-E its because the Path to 2409 ends there!!!

Hey, i have a friend that its a police in Grace, last time i call he, he was going to investigate some missing person, but i didn’t call he science then, hooo snap.. he mast be dead!!!!

Like i said in the other post, if Star Trek Nemesis show us something, its that kill Data was a big mistake, that i hope cryptic don’t made.

This is not BSG, this is Star Trek, if you want to see dead main characters, this is not your show, of more than 30 main characters we only loss 3 or 4, and some of them came back from death anyway.

I just hope they are able to market this in a big way, and bring in some Star Trek fans who aren't playing STO right now.

Actually, going by the Luna/Titan contest, it would appear that the likely outcome is that this will be the Enterprise design mandated by CBS licensing on future Trek works. Meaning it should impact the comics, the books (despite being another timeline) and any future "Prime Universe" material, whether or not the synch with STO. At least for any appearances of the Enterprise-F.

Meaning the only way to avoid it is to set a story an era prior to the F's launch or after its heyday.

The design will be elevated to hard canon even if it never appears in a canon work, like the Luna. This is an example of how CBS owns Trek and they've changed the rules regarding canon since Berman's day and Roddenberry's. They can declare a Christmas ornament canon if they wanted to; in this case they're acknowledging the fans for a franchise (TNG and beyond) whose live action era has ended. (But looking how they treated the Luna, if there was a miracle and you saw a TNG reunion, this would be the ship they used for that.)

In other words, We're playing 'for keeps' here potentially.

    Very very cool.

I mean, even for those who don't win.... just having participated? what a thrill!
I'm going to enjoy this immensely.

How much do you want to bet that once again Cryptic will alienate everyone of its subscribers outside of the US by bombarding each and every subscriber both current and past with adverts for this comp only to tell them that their entries are neither wanted or applicable!

Seriously when will you learn that if you cannot hold a comp that everyone can enter then you shouldn't hold it at all. I live in the U.K. there arent any restrictions that im aware of that would preclude me from entering this comp but like previous comps im barred and forced to watch from the sidelines as Cryptic's preferred customers enter this comp and the people in Crptics Marketing Department pat them selves on the back for coming up with another great way of p*ssing off half of their customers!

Tell you what, why not hold a Europe Only competion for a change, im sure there wont be any complaints from people in the US...............yeah right!
