I received the email early this morning (Nov 17) that there is a contest to design the next Enterprise, and that we should visit the "special Design Hangar".
Problem is I have looked around on the website and forums, and cannot find a thing about it.
Making this available would be nice.
Making the Design Hangar easy to find if it does exist would be even better.
For those of you who don't get the email:
Design The Next Enterprise
Seriously. We're working with our friends at CBS and Intel to turn the design of the next canon Enterprise over to you, Star Trek's most dedicated fans. Just visit our special Design Hangar and submit your version of the universe's most iconic spaceship. We'll convert the best design into a ship in Star Trek Online, but that's not where it stops.
Here are the prizes available:
Grand Prize: Custom, STO-painted Alienware M11x laptop; STO Collector's Edition; STO Lifetime Membership; and a 3-D model of the winning design.
Second Prize: Alienware laptop (no custom paint job), STO Collector's Edition and an STO Lifetime Membership.
Third Prize: STO Collector's Edition, STO Lifetime Membership and an Intel Core i7-875k processor.
Fourth Prize: STO Collector's Edition and an STO Lifetime Membership.
Twenty-one Honorable Mentions: Standard-edition copy of STO and a Star Trek Online poster.

thats the one
So get cracking on those designs fools!!! I don't want the next Enterprise to be a failboat!!
Similar to the current ship builder, but with maybe more parts
every ship, every part, every detail ? :O
Thing is though, there is nothing on the main page that takes one to the link you posted, nor does the email sent out state anything about the December 9th date.
...just something that maybe the powers that be can check the next time before sending out this info.
ZOMG I sooo want that!! I mean im satisfied with this computer that I already have but that M11x would be sweet.
do WE get to vote or some CBS Boss figure or who?
I'm also going to assume this is only open to US residents, and everyone else is excluded....at least from the prizes.
ROFLOL!!! That was beautiful.
But I'm fairly sure Cryptic Marketing has no cooldown. Plenty o' bugs though.
Maybe having some general guide lines might not be bad, just so the ship conforms to past Starfleet design logic.
I think a TV show is unlikely.
I could maybe see an online/DVD exclusive.
Moreover, I'm thinking the word "canon" here means they plan to push the design into the books, other games, merchandise, and comics.
Most likely - same deal as the Titan
Stormshade already posted in another thread that it won't actually be "canon" as far as CBS considers such things (even the Luna and Vesta aren't canon, they only appear in licensed books and not shows)
Its just a little bit of marketing speech, sort of exaggerating that fact that it will be "acknowledged by CBS" - which differs it from all of the really excellent fan-made designs already in existence out there.
I hope the Design Hanger is more than a mix-n-match tool of existing parts. Too many talented people out there who can create good things from scratch to limit them to mix-n-match.
I hope its better than the architect!!
Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot
I think my brain is going into meltdown over this. And I hope youre right man, Ive done too many sketches over the years of my own ships to want to be limited to Does this look ok? No, insert Saucer Design 4 with Window Design 2 But still, this is too cool not to pass up. And Ill be POd so much if the idiots at the courthouse pick me for jury duty that week. The measly compensation they give you doesnt cover gas money for the week let alone make up money you loose at work to pay for bills.
