Video: Using a tier 1 ship in VA missions

As part of my on-going series of random videos about stuff in STO, I recently completed "Space Combat #3," wherein I take a TOS Constitution-class ship into the B'tran Cluster to see how well I fare against the inhabitants. To my surprise, I found that, with some work, even VA-level enemies are still beatable even in a T1 ship, though obviously it takes some more work.

Anyway, here's the proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxIiOP1uQuU

I decided to do some cinematic tweaks too so it's not just five minutes of non-interactive space fighting. Hope ya'll enjoy. :D

That reminds me of what is sorely missing from this game, something that would make it feel more like Star Trek...

Cuts to our crew members on the bridge shaking in their chairs when they are under attack.

Well, if you zoom in close enough to your ship while flying around, you can hear the rumble, but you probably won't be able to see much because your ship will be taking up most of the screen. :p

This video is pretty cool. Nice job :)

The one thing I think would make it tones better is if you could remove the UI elements during the battle. Im not really sure how demo record software works if you not using it I suggest you check it out.

Neat video. I'm probably going to try something like that (gameplay, not video) when I've got my NX-Class ship, at least until I get bored/frustrated that I don't have the capabilities of a tier 5 ship.

I still think our sound should be centred on the ship, not the camera.

If I'm going for pure cinematics, then yes, the UI elements will be gone (though I'm still at a loss at how to get rid of those "You receive X skill points" messages that pop up when something dies, even in the demo editor).

Part of why I keep them in these videos is to give a clear picture of how I achieved what I did, whether it's nuking a Borg cube in <20 seconds or beating ships at vastly higher levels than what I'm using, rather than being enigmatic and have an "I'm better than you, watch how awesome I am" approach.

Ehh, maybe. The rumble would probably get annoying after a while, though.

Thanks! Getting a more positive response to this than I was expecting, I guess I'm on the right track with these. :D
