200 Day Klingon Vet Reward Nerf?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
So after being told we would indeed be getting a 200 day vet reward, a mighty cool cloak that would make that wait worth it. Dstahl just announced that the cloak has been "upgraded" to shoulder pads.

The 200 day Klingon uniform reward has been updated to be a set of unique shoulder pads that in future vet reward cycles will get more details and a cloak. It is coming in Season 3. More TOS outfits are on the way, and we are looking for additional ways to get more generic uniforms to both species, but I'm asking the team to resolve the whole uniform/off-duty slots issue first.

Got me again, Cryptic. I don't know if I should laugh right now, or extend a finger.

he does say it gets better over time so
200 might be shoulder pads and 300 might be the cloak? so by the time it hits 300 should be up for most of the original players.

    just a guess.

well it looks like shoulder pads for 200 and the cloak comes in a later veteran reward. the only question is what reward. 300 days? 400 days?

Sounds like cloak will be 400 days, if it's in 'future cycles'.

true but thats out of date now considering it never was meant to have a klingon reward at all, only because we asked for it and even more out of date now he mentioned its just pads with other upgrades to them later, so i dont think that page is overly helpful for this situation.

400 days is a vanity ship and access to the captains table... I surely hope we don't get the cloak in place of a vanity ship.

They could have at least given us the generals coat er something. Call me ungrateful, but vet rewards are a way to say thank you to your customers. They didn't even consider us Klingons for vet rewards originally.

We completely let the 100 day vet reward and our version of the Admiral's Jacket slip by when we were told we were getting a cloak for our 200 day. Now we'll have these unique shoulder pads to show for it.

    Edit:

I guess these are it. Pic at the bottom.

hmmm i had not heard anything about a "cloak" but i at least expected a full blown Uniform.

    A friggen shoulder pad?

that is stuff your Costume Designer should throw in twice a week because he is bored and just had the idea to do something.

    ....*meh*

on the other hand, a cloak.... i guess that thing would use the same physx tech like the superhero cape's in champions online.... ?
those things clip horribly if there is anything to clip with in the way.
probably the reason why this is not happening

if it is truly just a shoulderpad then this "reward" will feel like "just give them SOMETHING so they finally shut up about it"... but KDF realy should get an extra cheesecake for having to wait 100+ days longer and beeing constantly ignored.

//edit: "constantly ignored" might be a little harsh... let's say, got skipped a few times and are constantly lacking behind.

Seriously? just a pair of shoulders now? i suppose i shouldnt be surprised by this as its the way Klingons always get treated..were told were going to get somthing then when its almost time to deliver they either delay it or change it to somthing lesser, we still have no LG sash/jacket, no longcoat and now the vet reward is reduced to some ugly shoulders..and yet they manage to have 6 or so complete fed outfits ready to go on the C Store soon.

Its bad enough the vet reward is 100 days or so late but they now add the further insult of giving us only half of what they said we would get with the rest being added as future vet rewards, i cant help feeling that they have the full thing ready but thought that they could avoid having to make any new Klingon rewards for 1 or 2 more cycles by splitting this one into multiple parts.

I think we were all expecting somthing nice, somthing exciting for this vet reward but now it seems were just being handed the bare minimum so they can say 'we gave you somthing', and in the end this just boils down to yet annother really disapointing decision like so many others where the Klingon faction is involved.

Yeah I feel the same way, scew quality, it's about quantity.

That's what bums me out too. I was really looking forward to the reward. Dstahl has been bragging about it here and there for months now. I'm just really frustrated because now we got this lame shoulder pad that's not even really that unique. If it was just this, i'd probably bite my tongue, but it's always something.

First of all, I expect you of all people to know better. Gal-X Brah. Stop drinking the kool-aid locutus.:p They are not making Chia shoulder pads that grow over time. Basically we just got  in the  again. One day when they feds get something cool yet again, they'll be like "Oh and here's that cape we've been saving for you".

Did you even see those shoulder pads? We had to wait a hundred days for that TRIBBLE? What did they do, wait to the last minute to throw it together? "Uh dude... we still got that klink reward to do and five more minutes on the clock. Let's knock it out."

I dunno, I used to like these guys and thought this game had potential. Now I just feel like they are never going to offer any real quality for my money. To bad I was a sucker and gave it up front.

I was shocked to find out that we were getting a cloak for our 200-day reward, but the idea kinda grew on me. I thought we'd get this badass flowing thing that would make us look incredibly important at a Klingon function, but all we end up getting is a pair of FRACKING SHOULDERPADS?!

This is typical Cryptic for you. They get your hopes up only to squash them in the end. :(

I don't care if it "grows" with us, we waited for so long for something cool and get shafted once again.

I never was happy to hear it was a cloak, and definitely not shoulder pads even if they look cool. I was hoping they would add these:

Hopefully if the vet reward is a cloak/shoulders, it means we'll get this as a general's uniform, like the Fed's admiral jacket. Or it might mean we aren't getting anything but the cloak/shoulders anytime soon.

Trust me mate, I know better then most, and I did look at the pics. Did you notice the straps on the shoulders, I believe that will later link up to a cape in the back, which looking at it that way looks alot better. Did we get shafted, yes and no. I was hoping myself for the General coat. But overall, I think its an improvement from it.

Well, the thing is I and others fought for that reward which led down a dark path lets say that much. But due to that they came back and made something and implemented something for us klingons. I remember stahl mentioning there wasnt even a plan for a 200 vet reward. But they did change that. We also have to realise that we all cant get everything we wish for but at leased its something, right?

You know me, I dont drink none of the koolaid around these parts but I mean Iam happy we are getting something then nothing. And I will make a stand for the klingon side and try to get us more things that I think we diserve, and hope my fellow brothers and sister of the empire will stand by me and I will stand by them with anything reguarding klingon.

And this isnt the complete suit we see in the pic, my understanding that it will continue to grow.. yeah the chea pet deal hahah. But lets wait and see what the final result is of the outfit before we knock it. Iam hoping we can get a LTG rank reward and possibly a 100 day reward also.

The character art team was asked to make some cool rewards for Klingons and they proposed this "it gets better over time" approach and I endorsed it because it sounds cool they way they have it planned out. The character art guys are committed to making this cool and since this is their idea, I think its cool too.

My gut says no matter what we made, some players wouldn't like it. Its not like I asked them to make the crappiest think they could think of... I asked them to come up with something neat that works for ALL KDF species - and so far they haven't let me down.

so far I think all the 'rewards' for both sides suck. When are we going to get something actually nice like Special Edition captains quarters with all your trophies in it, or a T5 Constitution class or something thats actually shows Cryptic appreciates their veterans.

considering it will be 400 or 500 days till we get kdf 200 day vet stuff, you cant really worry about not having the cloak right when you can finally use it, unless you arent an original release account i guess.

Uh.. it doesn't sound cool. It's like here is a seed, now go plant it and wait another hundred days and see what it grows into. I can do that in my back yard. I was really looking forward to the cloak that you've been going on and on about. Only to be disappointed that we get some chia pads.

And to be honest stahl, they look crumby. They really wouldn't look good with any of the other species costumes besides Klingon. They're not even really a diverse costume piece.

This also brings up the question, what will we not be getting in the future for the 200 costume piece to finish growing? No Klingon vanity ship? 500 day gravity boots? Should have just stuck with what you said you were going to do instead of saying you were going to do it and not delivering.... again.

I think the increasingly complex uniforms are cool, as well.

At least in theory...I reserve final judgement for when I actually see them, but it's a neat idea. :D

Any chance Federation can get the same treatment, especially with our vet rewards combadge going up on the C-Store?

I LIKE the "it gets better over time philosophy".

My suggestion, Fed-side, is fairly simple:

Parallels/Future Imperfect combadges with ascending ranks for each tier of vet rewards.

So, Fed-side, it would be an Ensign FI Combadge at 100 days, Lt. at 200 days, etc. And then at 500 days, we'd get the Picard uniform from Barash's illusion.

My only real concern is this - I'm now a 300 day vet. How long do I have to wait for the reward to get even better?

Normally I am pretty cool with things and just glad to get something, but I gotta say, the shoulder pads (while quite nice looking) do not seem like an idea reward. I really don't see a Gorn wearing something like that. Orion, maybe, Maybe even a nausican. I guess I was hoping for better.

I think part of the problem is that the KDF has more racial diversity and less uniform enforcement than the Feds. Each race of the KDF has different style requirements and trying to make something that works for all the races is almost impossible.

Oh well, it is just a costume piece, I might not have worn it anyhow.

(Now, if we can get more Gorn customization...)

    Thanks,
    Duncan
