I think for the first episode of the Devidian series, it would have been a lot more mysterious/scary if we didn't know why the room was flashing and what these creatures were
Possibly, but anyone who saw the TNG episodes, or played the earlier mission with the Devidians, would know who they are. The mystery would be not seeing the Devidians until the 3rd of 4th episode. That would be a very hard type of series to write, IMO.
not for that mission, but I could be wrong because I don't recall the earlier devidian mission having the room flash (though it does now since they were reworked). I have also seen the TNG episode, but the mystery for the first series would have been awesome, even when I saw that first devidian running to the bridge, I would have been like wtf was that?!?!?! Would have been awesome
Dstahl never confirmed it was the Tholians. Jeremy is the one who said it in the podcast. Dstahl simply said that he has the script for Series 3 in hand and that Tholians would be in a future episode once they worked out all the tech to make Tholians seem right in the game. He never said the Series 3 script was Tholians.
Also RE: the OP - we have discussed finding a way to tease the new series while not giving too much a way. We have to walk that fine TV line between promoting and getting players excited about what's to come without pulling a movie trailer - here's the ended in 30 seconds give-away.
Right... I think this calls for a fight to the death.... right... ... we need bottemless pit map ... walkway above it... swords... and some beagles!!!!
Don't do what some TV shows do. There was an episode of Chuck where Captain Awesome went missing and it was suggested he was attacked and might have even been killed and ended in a cliff hanger! Then during the credits or right after it showed the preview for the next episode of him being alive and just captured! RUINED!

I thought season three might be something to do with the iconians, since how they've been getting a bit more active lately.
Unless you've only just played through "The Return", they haven't actually been heard from in months. I'm sure a lot of people on the forums would agree we'd really like to see a lot more of them. Seeing as how they're being built up as a major threat to the Federation

I would just like to drive home the point and this has been discussed, the game is a GREAT opportunity to explore things that would have been impossible or too expensive to do in a show, especially during the late sixties. So by all means, xenomorphic aliens and huge ancient battles between iconic forces, like the rise of the Klingon empire, legendary battles with K'less, the rise of Surak and his teachings on Vulcan and why not V'ger and even a V'ger planet!
Bring in Daniels from the temporal cold war and explore EVERY aspect of Star Trek, INCLUDING the animated series, it's genius!

My suggestion... Spoil a character or two from the series and a location, the way a trailer would.
For this series, for example, maybe I would have revealed the barfight, the Bajoran victim begging for help, and Drake. Maybe called it the "Drosana Series" and the series before that the "Deferra Series".
Spoiling the location is helpful; it helps people know where to start.
remember the federation splinter faction won the poll so it might be them.
(i still have no idea how they won the poll but there you go, that's democracy for you)
i really want to see the iconians back as they are basically the central story. although i would still be happier if they were max level missions added along side a weekly series, as i think they continue a story that's been building up through the ranks and it would seam odd to potentially play weekly mission for that storyline before you have discovered them from the higher levels. but that's just a minor nitpick
To be perfectly honest I would love to see the next weekly not focus on war, but to instead be where we get to explore a strange new world with an odd mystery surrounding it.
Hey, just don't forget to do the 'real' big bads soon, and really establish their cred in a series soon. We need a reason to be utterly quaking in our captain's chair, like the poor smucks at 359 quaked when the Borg said it was party time.
