Sorry for posting this here but i havn't had any luck in the technical forums
I updated my graphics drivers yesterday with the new nvidia GeForce/ION Driver Release 260
The end result was that it crashed my computer badly. Managed reintall the original factory drivers and the computer works again.
But now i need to re-update the drivers again in order to play STO.
I looked at the nvidia site under archived drivers and there is about 15 driver options i could install, but i don't know which one to try as i am scared of crashing the computer again.
Could anyone help me and advise me which one i should install.
My specs are as follows
Windows XP Service Pack 3
E6600 processor
2.40 GHz
2GB Ram
Graphic card - Nvidia 7900GS
I did the same thing, loaded driver 260.99, and it crashed my system as well. I went into the archives and ran the July2010 drivers for my 8600gt and all is fine now.
Just take previous WHQL tested driver... uninstall existing one, reboot, install downloaded (previous WHQL) driver and reboot again.
I think that this version has to work
thanks for the help guys, muchly appreciated. Just one last question. The drivers i have in at the moment are the original factory ones, with no updated on it. Do i have still have to un-install it ?
Every time you change grafic driver - 1st uninstall old one.
If you change grafic card, before shutdown uninstall driver for it.
Otherwise there is a chance of mess in your OS...
